Georgia Elite: A Look at Some of the Day 1 Freshman Standouts

He captured MVP honors last Spring at our middle school Showcase and had a successful season this Fall at the varsity level. Williams explodes off the line quick and has good agility and quickness for a guy his size. Uses his hands well to keep OL at bay. Great student of the game as well as in the classroom where he sports a honors 4.0. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Outlook:</strong> Williams has garnered accolades and awards throughout his early career. The freshman WR/DB is listed at 5'8 135 but looks and plays a lot bigger in pads. A natural athlete with great hands and awareness. He was part of a 5A State Championship this season at Milton. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Outlook:</strong> Edwards played well this season on the Milton 9th grade team with several TDs and Ints. He has a bright future in the States top program. Spence has a great pocket presence, especially for a freshman, and plays with confidence. Spence got to start a couple of games this season throwing for 578 yards on 61 attempts with 7 TDs to just 3 INTs. He has good footwork in the pocket and is a threat to run, gaining 50 yards on 6 carries.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Outlook: Spence has the polished look of a coaches son. He posses good size and mechanics at this age and will be competing for the starting job this Spring at East Paulding. The Charles brothers are new names for me and I pride myself on covering the NW Ga Area close. Not many clips available but from what I did see Charles is a natural athlete and competitor. Wrestled at 190 at 165 body weight and can get the rim on the hardwood at 5'8. A weight room warrior with a good RB physique and showed some tough North/South running on his Varsity clip. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700"><strong>Outlook</strong>: The potential is there if he caught the eye of the Elite Classic staff in a deep field of players. Developing in a great program under Coach Gates at Cass. A multisport athlete as well, participating in wrestling and basketball in the off season. I'm looking forward to seeing this guy play Saturday as there is not much film to see yet. The few clips I did see, his speed jumps out and his toughness in his ability to run between the tackles. Good frame with long arms. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Outlook:</strong> An athlete that can contribute at any of the skill positions.
