It's state championship week! Today, we are looking at which freshmen on state championship rosters you will soon know. Some are already proving it at the varsity level, while others are getting it done at the lower levels. I think these guys will be on more coaches' radars very soon. Keep an eye on them over the next three years.

DB: Brock Lacy, 6" 185, North Crowley

Lacy has natural body control and has no issues coming to balance making tough tackles in space. He can close ground in a hurry, he's comfortable filling within the box, and does a good job using his quickness to defeat blocks at the point of attack. He plays linebacker right now, but I think he projects as a safety at the next level.

ATH: Kade Smith, 5'10" 170, North Crowley

Kade has soft hands out of the backfield and has the speed to get to the outside and be off to the races. He shows great patience behind the line of scrimmage, has the vision to spot a soft edge, and can make third-level defenders miss 1 on 1. He's got excellent contact balance and can muscle through arm tackle attempts.

RB: Elexon Jones, 5'11" 180, Malakoff

A creative runner with nifty footwork, and the ability to run with both finesse and power. He's slippery through contact, has violent change of direction, and has a strong upper body to throw tacklers off of him. He never gives up on a run and is one tough back.

TE: Christon Ivy, 6'5" 215, South Oak Cliff

This kid is a future power four tight end. He's got ridiculous hands and has proven he can make circus-like grabs with his frame outstretched. He moves extremely well for a big man, he can split out wide & provide match-up issues against corners, and is a silky smooth route runner. He shows strong hands through contested catches and impressive leaping ability.

WR: Kandon Harris, 5'8" 165, Carthage

Harris has the speed to run right by corners, he's smooth transitioning out of his cuts, and can consistently win his 1 on 1 matchups on the outside. He's got instant acceleration once he gets his hands on the football, he can track the football on deep shot plays and isn't afraid to lower his shoulder to cap-off runs.

ATH: [player_tooltip player_id='1513841' first='JD' last='Edwards'], 5'8" 140, Carthage

Edwards has easy body control and can adjust midflight to underthrown passes. He's tough to bring down in space, he's a natural hands catcher, and can flip the field as a punt returner. He's quite versatile and can generate explosive plays at both running back and wide receiver.
