The state of Texas is littered with young up-and-coming talent; whether it's the big fellas up front or the slender skill players in the back end. Today, we're looking at which 2028 skill players are making an impact on both sides of the football. These guys have already seen varsity action and are names to monitor over the next three seasons.

WR: [player_tooltip player_id='1811399' first='CJ' last='Whaley'], 6'4" 185, Atlanta

Whaley has great size for the position, he's physical after the catch and has easy body control. He's slippery through contact, uses his frame to shield himself away from defenders, and goes up, high points the football & plucks it out of the air. He can adjust his body mid-flight for back shoulder throws and shows excellent concentration through contested catches.

RB: Joseph Banks, 5'10" N/A, Crowley

A slasher with vision, burst and the speed to get to the edge. He's an upright runner who can power through arm tackle attempts, he's got the balance to stay on his feet through physical tackle attempts and consistently caps off runs falling forward. He hasn't had a ton of production at the varsity level just yet, but I think that will jump next fall.

ATH: Donovan Sanders, 5'8" 160, Yates

Donovan is a homerun threat any time he touches the football. He's got explosive change of direction, plays fearless, and has a full head of steam coming downhill when he gets to top gear. He's a sure tackler on defense coming down from the third level and will use the sideline as a weapon when forced to tackle in space.

WR: Kaison Bivins, 6" 160, Odessa Compass Academy

Bivins has the quickness and footwork to separate against press coverage and he knows how to find the soft spots in zone coverage and throttle down in them. He's highly effective in the screen game and can spot small creases, he's got solid build-up speed with the ball in his hands and can easily track throws of twenty yards plus.

WR: Amere Damphie, 5'8" 145, C.E. King

Amere is quite elusive in space and shows the creativity to add extra yards with little help. He has the speed to run right by level-two defenders trying to jam him, he plays bigger than his listed height & can hold his own on 1 on 1 balls.

DB: Major Armstrong, 5'9" 145, Jasper

Major has a smooth pedal that he easily transitions out of, he has the downfield speed to stick with quicker targets, and is extremely competitive. He sees through three step then speeds up his pedal, he's an effective kick returner and his breaks never leave the framework of his body.
