Biggest upset by seeds: No. 19 John Curtis over No. 3 Acadiana, 28-27.

Other upsets: No. 10 C.E. Byrd over No. 7 St. Paul's, 37-15.

Closest game: No. 19 John Curtis over No. 3 Acadiana, 28-27; and No. 8 St. Thomas More over No. 9 St. Augustine, 28-27.

Biggest margin: No. 1 Edna Karr over No. 17 Huntington, 56-6.

Biggest surprise: No. 19 John Curtis upsetting title hopeful Acadiana was surprising in some sense, although the Patriots have also reached at least the quarterfinals every year since 1993.

Top performers: 2025 C.E. Byrd QB Harrison Ayres, 2025 St. Thomas More DB [player_tooltip player_id='914125' first='Gavin' last='Duplechin'], 2025 Edna Karr WR [player_tooltip player_id='426960' first='TaRon' last='Francis'], 2026 Edna Karr QB [player_tooltip player_id='920629' first='John' last='Johnson'], 2025 John Curtis QB/ATH Reggie Johnson, 2025 Alexandria RB [player_tooltip player_id='914208' first='J.T.' last='Lindsey'], 2025 C.E. Byrd DB James Logan, 2026 Teurlings Catholic QB [player_tooltip player_id='1602070' first='Alex' last='Munoz'], 2025 Catholic (BR) RB [player_tooltip player_id='912267' first='Rylan' last='Parker'], 2025 Archbishop Rummel RB [player_tooltip player_id='291163' first='Norman' last='Taylor'].

Other notes: As mentioned above, John Curtis continued its consistency of making the quarterfinals even on the heels of its worst regular-season record since 1969. Several other mainstays continued their own long streaks as well. Curtis has made the quarters every year since 1993, Edna Karr since 2009, Catholic (Baton Rouge) since 2012, St. Thomas More since 2013. Teurlings Catholic makes its third straight quarterfinals and its fifth in the past six years. Alexandria makes back-to-back quarterfinal appearances and three in the past five years. Archbishop Rummel makes back-to-back appearances and 12 of the past 14. And C.E. Byrd is back for its fourth in the past five years after missing in 2023.

Intriguing second-round matchup: No. 4 Catholic (Baton Rouge) vs. No. 5 Archbishop Rummel will mark the sixth postseason of the past seven in which the teams have met, including last season's semifinals.

Most intriguing possible quarterfinal matchup: No. 1 Edna Karr vs. No. 4 Catholic (Baton Rouge), would put two of the state's top few teams against one another and rekindle the Cougars' and Bears' own recent postseason history.
