Game Recap

This game started with a common theme. The La Crosse Logan Rangers flying around and crushing on the defensive end. The first fireworks, and points, came from the Logan defense when LB Jackson Bosch came flying in to make a tackle in the endzone for a safety. After a slightly slow start the Logan offense started adding onto the defensive points. Dominant senior QB/LB/Do-it-all athlete [player_tooltip player_id='262117' first='Bradley' last='Check'] kept it himself on a run through the right side of the line. He made one man miss with a hurdle and was off to the races for the 9-0 lead. [player_tooltip player_id='262117' first='Bradley' last='Check'] kept pouring it on in the second quarter. This time he had to do some hard-nosed running to just get the nose of the ball across the goal line for the 16-0 lead. Things were looking like they were getting out of hand quickly, but senior RB [player_tooltip player_id='384576' first='Cameron' last='Cornett'] of Onalaska was able to stop the bleeding when he set up the offense on the goal line with a 46 yard run. Th senior finished the drive with the 1 yard score around right tackle. Logan didn't miss a beat after giving up the points. They quickly drove down the field and this time [player_tooltip player_id='262117' first='Bradley' last='Check'] was able to score through the air by finding impressive senior TE Jacob Hackbarth in the endzone. That is where we went into the halftime break. With the Rangers on top 22-6 and in full control of this game. However, if Onalaska was able to come out and impose their own will in the second half there was a path to get back into this game.

Both teams spent almost the entire 3rd quarter trading punches and neither defense gave up any ground. That was until the :54 second mark of the quarter when [player_tooltip player_id='262117' first='Bradley' last='Check'] continued his elite performance with a 2 yard rushing TD. A TD set up by a long Maxim Roberts carry. Logan and [player_tooltip player_id='262117' first='Bradley' last='Check'] didn't let off the gas once they got things rolling again. Check led the offense down the field again, and once again got it done through the air. This time finding Hudson Davis on a rollout to put the Rangers up 35-6. As you can probably guess at this point, QB [player_tooltip player_id='262117' first='Bradley' last='Check'] was able to get it done once again on the following drive. This time he kept it himself and raced 46 yards through the defense to put us in a running clock situation, up 42-6. The running clock quickly killed the rest of the 4th quarter, giving us the 42-6 final. The Rangers of La Crosse Logan put on a dominant performance on both sides of the ball. Even more impressive was we saw several athletes playing both ways for the Rangers. The effort, dominance, and passion never wavered though. Good luck to Logan as they will take on Medford in a Level 3 battle, and congrats to Onalaska on a successful season!

The top performer of the night was by far the senior QB/LB [player_tooltip player_id='262117' first='Bradley' last='Check']. It was so impressive watching him dominate on offense on the ground and through the air, then fly around on defense, and also play special teams. The 5'10" 210 lbs senior didn't leave the field and didn't stop making impact plays. His conditioning is elite and his motor from play to play never dipped. The kid went all out on every play. I don't know where he keeps the fuel to keep going like he does. Along with that mental toughness is a high football IQ. Bradley was so quick to process at QB or at LB, making good choices or quickly diagnosing and attacking the ball.

Looking at his physical traits, I was very impressed with the power packed into the 5'10" 210 lbs frame. He delivers big hits on defense as he runs through opponents. His contact balance and leg drive generated a lot of yards after contact and led to a few TDs. The senior also has good vision while running with the ball to find the best way to attack the defense. It was a fantastic showing from one of the top producers in the state. Bradley will definitely be a Prep Redzone WI Player of the Year candidate. Give the uncommitted senior a look.

Collin is an under the radar senior OL that is well worth taking the time to dive into. He has a solid frame that a college lifting program could develop into something impressive over the coming years. On the field I was impressed with his power and mobility within the trenches. Collin has a solid burst out of his stance, can pull, and is able to reach the second level. I really like the mentality too. The entire team seemed to have it last night. The senior looked to overpower and control his man every snap. He was creating a positive push every time I focused on him throughout the game. His effort and the effort of the rest of the OL had a massive impact on the Logan offensive dominance.

Jacob is an impressive mismatch who demonstrated that he could line up all over the offense. We saw him out wide, traditional TE alignment in a three point, and in tight out of a two point. Jacob has a massive frame at 6'5" with so much room to add on to that 205 lbs. I was really impressed watching the big athlete run routes. He is as smooth runner in the open field, which allowed him to open up separation downfield. The big fella didn't hesitate to make an impact in the heavily used run game either. It didn't matter where he was lined up, the senior was going to be blocking until the whistle. I like his potential as a development project who has his best football ahead of him.

Thomas Check is so impressive for a freshman. The balance, body control, and overall athleticism from his speed to his short area quickness and burst look like that of a senior who has put in years of offseason work. Thomas was able to get behind the defense to create some big sparks in the passing game. His ability to find the ball, adjust to it, and make the catch with excellent hand eye coordination is ahead of his years as well. I'm very excited for what is to come for the freshman playmaker. Definitely keep an eye on this kid.

Maxim is an excellent running mate with Bradley in the Logan backfield. Roberts is a physical runner with contact balance to punish and wear down a defense. We saw that effect take place as the game went on. Maxim's best runs were all in the second half. It seemed like the junior RB was getting stronger as the game went on. He ran behind his pads and kept those legs churning until the whistle. Keep an eye on his this season, and look for him to have a big year in 2025 as well.

Cameron did what he could in this game. The game script took out the run game pretty quick for Onalaska, but Cameron was still able to impress through the night. He is a well rounded RB who can tote the rock between the tackles or off the edge. He has the power behind his pads to punish tacklers and keep square over his feet while taking hits. We saw he could flip to a second gear when attacking the edges and getting up the sideline as well. Don't sleep on one of the top uncommitted RBs in the state among the Class of 2025.

I liked what I saw while watching the junior OL from Onalaska. He has a frame for the position, one that can add on size comfortably and not effect his athleticism. On the field I liked the athleticism in the trenches. Multiple times I was able to catch him winning the leverage and positioning battle to cut off his man from the running lane. He also flashed some quick hands. The junior also was able to make multiple bull rush stuffs against his DL. This is a name to keep an eye on over this next year.
