Freshman All-State in 2024

With the 2024 regular season complete for the freshmen of the Class of 2028, we take a look at their performance on film to identify who made an impact. Some of these players competed at the junior high level and will be moving up, while others have played at the varsity level throughout the season. Here are ten freshmen to watch as they progress in their high school careers. These prospects have been named Freshman All-State by Prep Redzone Arkansas.    [player_tooltip player_id='1323417' first='Elijah' last='Moody'] has truly made a remarkable impact as a freshman, showcasing his talent and skill at the varsity level throughout the season. As the regular season wraps up, his stats are impressive: with a completion rate of 74%, he has thrown for 1,429 yards, racking up 17 touchdown passes against only 2 interceptions. On the ground, his ability to find space and break tackles is evident in his impressive total of 1,148 rushing yards on 70 attempts. Additionally, he has found the end zone 14 times while carrying the ball. All told, Moody has accounted for an incredible 31 total touchdowns this season, which is a testament to his versatility and playmaking ability. His performance not only highlights his capabilities but also sets a strong foundation for what could be an outstanding high school career.   Moody displays good pocket mobility and footwork, allowing him to extend plays while maintaining accuracy on the run. His ability to throw to all levels of the field is evident through his ball placement, anticipation, and touch, reflecting his solid arm talent and mechanics. Moreover, his decision-making skills stand out; he commands the offense with poise and quickly selects the right reads. He excels in the read option and designed runs, demonstrating his athleticism by tucking the ball and running when necessary. He plays both running back and defensive back, making significant contributions on both sides of the ball. To date, he has carried the ball 53 times, accumulating 345 yards with an impressive average of 6.5 yards per carry and 7 touchdowns. In the receiving game, he has made 6 catches for 49 yards. On defense, he has shown a strong work ethic and motor, recording 47 tackles (19 solo), 2 interceptions, and 1 tackle for loss.   At running back, he demonstrates solid post-snap vision, effectively locating running lanes with patience and attacking holes with good burst. Once he has committed, he becomes elusive in space, able to evade defenders due to his fluidity and lateral agility. As a defensive back, Eldridge showcases a sideline-to-sideline motor and takes good angles. He has solid read-and-react skills, allowing him to arrive at the catch point to either make a play on the football or deliver a tackle in space. He is expected to be a highly-rated player when he reaches high school. Although he only played five games this season due to injury, he still managed to accumulate impressive stats. Brown recorded 1,179 yards and 14 touchdowns. His capabilities at the next level have no limits, making him a force to be reckoned with.   He demonstrates good speed, burst, and athleticism out of the backfield. He possesses good post-snap vision, allowing him to quickly read first-level defenders and identify running lanes with a powerful burst through tackles. His vision enables him to find cut-back lanes, showcasing his lateral agility and ability to change direction, which helps him evade defenders in open space. With his good contact balance, leg drive, and lateral dexterity, he can absorb contact, break tackles, and gain extra yards. In the receiving game, he displays strong hands and fluid route-running skills. He's anticipated to be one of the best prospects emerging from this highly regarded group. As a well-balanced and versatile wide receiver, he showcased exceptional skills this season with 54 receptions for 1,174 yards and an impressive 18 touchdowns. His ability to dominate at every level of the field has made him nearly unguardable.   Hancock displays a quick release due to good acceleration and effective footwork off the line of scrimmage, which helps him cover ground swiftly. He's capable of defeating press-man coverage by attacking the defender's shoulder with his agility, UOH, and burst. His fluid movement and impressive start/stop ability keep man-coverage defenders on their toes. Hancock represents a vertical threat, showcasing both speed and good footwork. With good hand-eye coordination, strong hands, and body control, he can adjust mid-route or make contested catches. His ability to create separation consistently, whether from deep routes or sharp breaks, is attributed to his good change of direction, balance, and explosive burst. Through nine games, with one remaining in the regular season, he has completed 72 of 110 passes (65%), accumulating 1,504 yards and throwing 17 touchdowns. He has also carried the ball 54 times for 337 yards and scored 5 touchdowns. As you can see, this class is heavily offensive due to its versatility and dominance, and he is a significant part of it.   Ellison is a strong-arm quarterback capable of fitting the ball into tight windows with good ball placement and impressive velocity. His strong arm allows him to effectively reach all levels of the field. He consistently demonstrates good ball placement and anticipates his receivers, helping them gain yards after the catch (YAC). Additionally, he exhibits solid pocket mobility and awareness, enabling him to evade pressure and run when necessary.
