CLASS OF 2028: Look Into The Future

While it will be some time before we rank and evaluate the entire state – to be fair to everyone – we will continue to spotlight some of the top prospects to keep an eye on.   While the 2025 (seniors), 2026 (juniors) and 2027 (sophomores) are still putting themselves on the radar, this current freshman (2028) class is certainly turning some heads.   Today, we take a look into the future with some of those players who are finishing their first season at the varsity level.     Joey Cassidy   QB/WR/S   6-0, 175,   Tampa Carrollwood Day.   WHAT TO LIKE: While splitting his first season between junior varsity and the varsity level, here is a prospect who showed that he is developing an arm - while learning all about reading defenses. Not only can he throw and get the ball out quick, but he also can run if needed. On the defensive side of the ball, at his safety position, he is a ball hawk who is also ready to get physical if needed. He has loose hips and is versatile. On the offensive side of the ball, he uses his knowledge and instincts to make catches while using his speed. In the classroom, he is also leaving a mark with a 3.43 GPA. WHAT TO LIKE: While some prospects hit the varsity level in high school with so much to learn, there are others – like this gifted young man – who has shown that no matter where you put him, he steps up. As a runner or pass catcher he continues to learn how to hit holes and get through them. Being smaller makes no difference because he is tough, athletic and will continue to grow and mature. WHAT TO LIKE: It doesn't take long to see why coaches and fellow players have been bowled over by this young man. He is not only a cover corner who will get in your face and shadow you, but he certainly isn't afraid to stick his nose in there to make plays. This off-season will shine the spotlight on him as more colleges have the chance to watch his maturity. Has been responsible for the success of this program this season as they head to the 1A Region Semifinals. For colleges who are watching and taking notes early, keep in mind that he also makes a difference in the classroom – with a 3.9 GPA. There are prospects that all you must do is watch them play for a few minutes and already know that they are certainly gifted and ahead of their years on the field. This is one of those prospects. He gets off the ball quickly, coming speed and strength, which most freshmen simply do not have at this stage of their process. Whether he lines up on the outside or moves into the middle, you better find out where he is!
