The field is becoming smaller as we roll into the second round. And that means the challenges will become greater for the teams left standing, beginning this week. There are games in the Class 1A Upper State second round that will grab your attention.

Surprises? You'll have to wait to find out on Friday night.

NO. 2 BLACKVILLE HILDA (9-2) AT NO. 1 ABBEVILLE (9-1)

Blackville-Hilda won in all three phases last week against McCormick in a 45-6 rout in the first round. Samari Williams scored three touchdowns on the ground, while he threw another one. The Fighting Hawks got involved on special teams as Brandon Priester scored on a kickoff return and Jaden Berry picked off two passes.

The Panthers made a quick dispatch of CA Johnson in the first round with a 48-0 win. Jamearion Williams had an interception in the late stages of the contest. Jhalouis Hadden and [player_tooltip player_id='1249802' first='Damarcus' last='Leach'] had some big runs, including a 6-yard touchdown run for Hadden. AJ Speech recovered a fumble on defense while Thomas Ferguson had a tackle for a loss.

X-FACTOR: [player_tooltip player_id='1700046' first='Darius' last='Riley'] had two touchdowns for the Panthers. If he can find some open space, it may be a house call. He can line up in the backfield or at wide receiver. He has good vision to wait for his blocks to develop and then he explodes in the hole.

NO. 3 LEE CENTRAL (7-4) AT NO. 2 LAMAR (8-3)

[player_tooltip player_id='1165108' first='Zori' last='Pierce'] threw for 124 yards and three touchdowns as the Silver Foxes routed Whitmire, 62-0 in the first round last week. [player_tooltip player_id='1462573' first='Alvion' last='Ward'] led the Silver Foxes run game with 2 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown. Julian Morris had a 55-yard run in the win as well. [player_tooltip player_id='1253894' first='Zoom' last='Jackson'] had a monster game receiving with four catches for 151 yards and four scores.

The duo of Jaquarius Davis and Shadrach Williams will try to limit Lamar's possessions on Friday. Keep an eye on Rico Hickmon at running back as well.

X-FACTOR: Nygel Eaddy has a good combination of speed and burst when he gets out into the open field. He is not afraid of contact and is patient enough to wait on his blockers and find the hole quickly. He ran for 20 yards and a touchdown in last week's first round win.

NO. 2 DIXIE (8-2) AT NO. 1 HUNTER-KINARD TYLER (9-1)

Naishawn Thomas caught a 20-yard pass on a screen, and that was indicative of the offensive showcase put on by HKT against McBee in their 54-21 first round win. The defense got in on the action with a pick six.

Dixie got scores from multiple contributors in their 42-0 shutout of Williston-Elko in the first round. Leland Sanders scored from 23 yards out while [player_tooltip player_id='1467823' first='Jayden' last='Martin'] and Dallas Dotson got in on the scoring action.

X-FACTOR: Brandon Nance is tough to tackle from his running back spot. He will not go down after the first contact and shows really good strength and agility to be able to break tackles and get into the endzone, like he did three times last week.

NO. 4 RIDGE SPRING-MONETTA (6-5) AT NO. 1 LEWISVILLE (10-1)

[player_tooltip player_id='1604020' first='Jaiden' last='Holloway'] exploded for five touchdowns in a 45-28 shootout win for RSM over Ware Shoals in the first round. Keep an eye on quarterback Bam Robinson and running Braylon Smith to also lead things offensively.

Lewisville made a quick dispatch of Calhoun Falls last week in a 66-0 shutout win in the first round. Remember the duo [player_tooltip player_id='1249747' first='Zach' last='Rogers'] (pictured above) and JaCorreun Howze. If those two get going, the Lions will continue to be a tough out for anyone. The two connected on a 35-yard score within the first 60 seconds of last week's contest. [player_tooltip player_id='1165159' first='Jordan' last='Strong'] had two scores, one of 25 and of 13 yards.

X-FACTOR: [player_tooltip player_id='1639690' first='Eden' last='Gaston'] had two pick sixes in the win last week, and is a guy that no one talks about outside of the Lions' stars. He is aggressive from his linebacker position and can come up and react to plays quickly.
