Big time players show up in big games and that's what Curtis did last week in the Eagles road region win over Columbia Academy. The future Georgia Bulldog had his best game of the season where he was near unstoppable, producing over 400 yards of total offense and five touchdowns on the night. The Columbia Academy defense had no answers for Curtis. He was able to throw at will without much pressure but also ran the ball hard where he steamrolled over several opponents. This is the kind of performance his Eagles team will need as we inch closer to postseason play.

Even though his Bears team took a loss in Week Eight, Bolden had himself a breakout performance that could land him on the college radar. His opponents last week could not guard Bolden as he went on to score four touchdowns through the air while scoring another in the return game. All year long, Bolden has been a consistent performer and a big play threat for his Bears offense. The way he has played this season will certainly get him on the map to be recruited but how he continues to develop will determine which level he will make it to.

The Admirals are coming off their best team performance of the 2024 season as they took down a talented Oak Ridge team with Thompson being a major reason behind the victory. This senior defender was disruptive throughout the night, playing in the Cats backfield where Thompson produced three sacks on the evening while also taking ball carriers down for five tackles for loss. It was the kind of defensive performance the Admirals needed in this game. Thompson is a senior that is looking to get on the college radar and games like will certainly help the cause.

O-line of the Week

Jefferson Co. Patriots

- Last week's victory over West Ridge was a much needed win for the Patriots as they look to lock down a spot in the upcoming playoffs next month. Jefferson Co. produced 49 points versus the Wolves and a big part of that was the play from their offensive line. The big men in the trenches held up well against the pass, where they kept their quarterback clean but did outstanding work in the run game, paving the road for a 200 plus yard game from [player_tooltip player_id='848834' first='Skylar' last='Thomas']. The Pats O-line has steadily improved throughout the season, led up front by Tennessee commit [player_tooltip player_id='504236' first='Nic' last='Moore'] and two-way junior [player_tooltip player_id='1258053' first='Christian' last='Wilson']. If strong play in the trenches continues, Jefferson Co. could be a tough out come playoff time.

Team of the Week

Bearden Bulldogs

- Sporting a talented roster with several future college guys, Bearden needed to get back on the winning track of things and they did that in a big way last week during their 38-19 win over region foe Cleveland. It was a huge game for the Bulldogs as it was not only a win over an inner-region team but a victory that could provide confidence for a team many may not want to face come postseason play. The run game and the play in trenches were on point last week for Bearden and two areas that must remain strong moving forward. Defeating Cleveland was a good look for the Dawgs as the Blue Raiders are talented and it was a win that might land them in 2nd place within their region.

Positional Players of the Week

QB POTW: ‘26 [player_tooltip player_id='1102999' first='Rhett' last='Slagle'] - Elizabethton

- Playing a near flawless game, Slagle took it to Northview Academy last week in his Cyclones 49-20 win over the Cougars. The junior signal caller was precise throughout the night while proving to be a threat in the air and on the ground as Slagle produced over 300 yards of offense and 6 touchdowns on the night.

RB POTW: ‘26 [player_tooltip player_id='1422921' first='Juan' last='Mejia'] - Johnson Co.

- Mejia has been a regular within our “POTW' honors throughout the season as he is putting forth a Mr. Football caliber junior year. Last Friday was another stellar performance from this East TN ball carrier where Mejia found the end zone five times for over 200 yards on the way towards a 56-7 victory over Chuckey-Doak.

Stats: 16 carr. for 205 yds & 5 TD's (2 rec. for 27 yds)

WR POTW: Dakoda Haun - Jefferson Co.

- The Patriots added a big region win last week over West Ridge where this senior wideout had his best game of the season. Haun produced in a big way for his offense where he hauled in seven receptions for almost 200 yards and three touchdowns on the night.

Stats: 7 rec. for 199 yds & 3 TD's

ATH POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='1080185' first='Noah' last='Spencer'] - USJ

- Spencer yet again earns top honors after another big performance in his team's 49-35 win over ECS last week. The Bruins senior two-way talent has been one of the top playmakers in the state this season where he has produced at multiple positions. Last week proved to be one of the best where he made plays at running back, receiver and produced an interception on defense.

Stats: 18 carr. for 224 yds & 4 TD's; 7 rec. for 95 yds (4 tcks, 1 TFL & 1 Int on Def.)

- - -

DL POTW: Javonte Parker - McMinn Co.

- As a whole, the Cherokees defensive line had a strong game last Friday but Parker was the lead dog where he played in the oppositions backfield for most of the night. This East TN senior did good work against the pass (2 sacks) but his job versus the run was probably most important during the Cherokees shut out win over Howard.

Stats: 7 tcks, 3 TFL & 2 sacks

LB POTW: ‘26 [player_tooltip player_id='1286224' first='Jaylen' last='Jackson'] - West Creek

- The Coyotes picked up a big region win last week over Northeast with Jackson being a force on the West Creek defense. He has put forth a strong junior campaign up to this point that should land him on the college radar as a middle linebacker with upside for the next level.

Stats: 8 tcks, 1 TFL, 1 sack & 1 Int

DB POTW: ‘26 [player_tooltip player_id='853131' first='Spencer' last='Makuch'] - Walker Valley

- Makuch played a big role in the Mustangs huge regional win last Friday over East Hamilton. Walker Valley needed strong defensive play in this contest and they received it from Makuch. He made several key tackles on the night, including one forced fumble as well as produced a clutch interception.
