Several candidates were considered for this week's top honor but we had to roll with Gabriel-Georges as he produced in a big way within a huge region victory over rival McCallie. The Red Raiders purely dominated the Blue Tornado last Friday with Gabriel-Georges being a major cause in their efforts as he ran for over 230 yards and three touchdowns on the night. This guy's speed and explosive running style proved to be a big problem for the McCallie defense as they simply did not have an answer for him. Over the last few weeks, Gabriel-Georges has been one of the hottest recruits in the state and I expect his stock to only go higher, especially with continued performances like he had in Week Seven.

The Hurricanes needed some new names to step forward this year and become go-to guys and Haywood has certainly answered the call. This junior two-way prospect had his best game of the season last Friday in his team's commanding region win over Ooltewah where he rushed for 333 yards and five scores on the evening. The Canes made it a point to run the ball last week with Haywood being their focal point and he delivered. This #TN2026 prospect is an interesting talent as Haywood could develop at multiple positions for the college game but the more he runs like this, the more he leans toward being on the offensive side of the ball.

The Bison needed a big performance from their defense in last week's region win over White House and they got it, led by Crisp, who put forth his best game of the season yet. From start to finish, Crisp played in the Blue Devils backfield all night long as he harassed their quarterback while doing good work versus the run. The Bison senior edge rusher has been coming on of late, showing the burst off the edge that put him on the college radar back in the spring. If Crisp can continue this play, the Bison might become a tough opponent to face come playoff season.

O-line of the Week

Maryville Rebels

- The Rebels front five have been stellar all season long but they were a big catalyst last week in their region win over Bearden. Whether it was opening holes for [player_tooltip player_id='361227' first='Price' last='Davis'] or pass blocking for [player_tooltip player_id='1167467' first='Will' last='Jones'], the Rebels O-lineman did their job and did it exceptionally. They mauled the Bulldogs defensive front all night, knocking them off the ball and wearing them down. The physicality by [player_tooltip player_id='466287' first='Alex' last='Boyd'], [player_tooltip player_id='284141' first='Brody' last='Smith'], [player_tooltip player_id='1182668' first='Henry' last='Chambers'] and Nash Stinnett set the tone early in this matchup and continued throughout, leading the Rebels to a 7-0 record and one step closer to winning their region title.

Team of the Week

Baylor Red Raiders

- The Red Raiders had competition for this honor but they earned it after not only defeating their rival but dominating McCallie, 44-12. It was an overall impressive performance from Baylor, who established themselves as “the” best team within their classification and the entire state of Tennessee with this win and they did it by commanding the line of scrimmage while receiving an outstanding game from [player_tooltip player_id='1210671' first='David' last='Gabriel-Georges']. The defense was stellar too. This 2024 Baylor team is loaded with talent that I don't know if anybody will be able to knock them off the rest of the way. McCallie might have been that one team to do it but after last Friday, that notion is certainly out the window.

QB POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='1526934' first='Kyler' last='Creasy'] - Oakland

- This is the best game performance from Creasy yet where he did not throw one incompletion while tossing it for 250 plus yards and three scores in the Patriots 42-7 win over Siegel. Most weeks, Creasy does his damage running the ball but in Week Seven, the Pats senior quarterback displayed excellent work in the passing game.

Stats: 13-13 passing for 259 yds & 3 TD's

RB POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='344645' first='Harrison' last='Edwards'] - Lebanon

- The Blue Devils evened their region record in last week's blowout over Wilson Central where this senior ball carrier had his best game of the season. Edwards used his speed and athletic skill set to run all over the Wildcats defense as he went on to produce five TD's on the night (Four on the ground, 1 through the air.)

Stats: 17 carr. for 232 yds & 4 TD's (1 rec, 36 yds & 1 TD)

WR POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='1111030' first='Jeremiah' last='Williams'] - Gallatin

- The Green Wave came up short in their game vs. Cookeville but Williams did everything he could to keep his team in the mix. This senior two-way prospect showed up big time as his quarterback's go-to target where he hauled in 12 receptions while taking three of those into the end zone.

Stats: 12 rec. for 147 yds & 3 TD's

- - -

ATH POTW: Malaki Cary - Houston Co.

- All year long, Cary has been producing at a high level for his Fighting Irish team with last Friday being one of his best performances yet. He was instrumental last week where he produced three touchdowns on offense in two different ways while continuing to lock things down in the secondary with five tackles and one interception.

Stats: 7 carr. for 103 yds & 2 TD's; 3 rec. for 88 yds & 1 TD (5 tcks & 1 Int on Def.)

- - -

DL POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='902961' first='Jayden' last='Cannon'] - BGA ‘27

- This sophomore defender had his breakout game last Friday where he played with a consistent, high motor that allowed him to produce two defensive TD's on the night. Cannon took two turnovers to the house, picking off one and recovering a fumble for his second. His intent and motor allowed him to make these plays and it may be the showing that pushes his game to another level.

Stats: 6 tcks, 1 TFL, 1 FR, 1 Int & 2 Def. TD's

- - -

LB POTW: Aaron Estes - Munford

- Over the last month, Estes has been coming on as the Cougars top defensive player with last week being another indication of that. This West Tennessee edge defender was in the opponent's backfield most of the night where he produced three sacks on the evening while also doing good work versus the run.

Stats: 8 tcks, 3 TFL & 3 sacks

- - -

DB POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='1648058' first='Khadon' last='Piphus'] - Halls ‘26

- Halls is an undefeated squad at the moment with both sides of the ball bringing a balanced attack to the field and Piphus is a major player in that cause. Last week was yet another strong performance from this Tigers junior that has been a ball hawk all year long in their secondary while providing good action in run support.
