Week 7 rolled in on the heels of some blustery fall weather last Friday and with it came the expected standout quarterback play. And, although the weather was fall-like and enjoyable, mother nature made it challenging at times for varsity gunslingers, with swirling winds gusting up over 30+ mph at some locations.

But if anyone thought it was going to slow down the great performances, think again. That's one thing about Kansas quarterbacks, they learn how to play in any weather condition, but in particular they learn to handle the wind.

In some games the Kansas winds are so bad it essentially leaves QB's only two quarters to really air it out with the wind at their back. Even then, the gusting, swirling blasts can be tricky to deal with. QB's playing in domes or in the warm-weather states have no idea what a hassle the wind can be.

But, once again, I digress. The wind was definitely a factor, but the guys below were either able to manage it, or for some of the dual-threat aces, they just shifted gears and dominated through the run game.

In this report we will take a look at some of the top quarterback play from week 7, so without further adieu, let's dive into some of the incredible performances from this past Friday.

400-Club

[player_tooltip player_id='780500' first='Carter' last='Hajek'], 6'0, 215, QB, Nemaha, '26 - A rare 400-club showing was put together by the reigning player of the year as he repeatedly gashed the defense on his way to an incredible 409 yards rushing on 21 carries and scored six TD's this past Friday in a 40-16 win over Royal Valley. No, that is not a typo...400+ yards rushing in one game. He also dominated in the other phases of the game, piling up 11+ tackles and a forced fumble on defense. For the season he has ran and passed for just under 1,800 yards and has accumulated 26 touchdowns along the way. The scary thing is he is just getting warmed up...

Manny Meyers, 5'11, 185, QB, Mulvane, '25 - not to be out done, the versatile dual-threat quarterback blazed his way to 320 yards on 28 carries and scored a pair of TD's on the ground in a 44-28 win over Coffeyville. He also completed seven of 12 passes for 143 yards, and two more TD's to give him four total touchdowns and a jaw-dropping 463 yards in total yardage for the game. Have a game young man!

Winner-Winner, Chicken Dinner:

[player_tooltip player_id='1370888' first='Marco' last='Rodriguez'], 6'5, 195, QB, Bishop Miege, '25, enduring six-straight losses during an early brutal schedule littered with landmines along the way, the rangy gunslinger finally got his team on the winning side of the ledger with a 34-32 win over Blue Valley North last Friday. It was an average day throwing for him, as he went 15 of 26 for 247 yards and three TD's, but it was enough to get the first win. On the season he has thrown for just under 1,800 yards on 145 of 292 passes and 13 TD's.

Big-Time Players:

[player_tooltip player_id='1112372' first='Henry' last='Hecox'], 6'4, 200, QB, Moundridge, '25 - came up huge, leading his team over #2-ranked Sedgwick 41-40 in OT last Friday. On the night he set a school record for most passing yards, going 21 of 34 for 364 yards and five touchdowns. He also added 10+ tackles on defense. For the year he is up to just under 1,000 total yards and has 21 touchdowns leading his team to an unbeaten record

[player_tooltip player_id='442659' first='Blake' last='Ellis'], 5'10, 170, QB, Humboldt - has led his team to a sparkling 7-0 record as a dangerous dual-threat QB who makes things happen. This past week he didn't play long but still had 120 yards rushing, 131 yards passing and five scores in a 66-0 rout of WFHS. On the year he has just under 1,800 total yards and an eye-popping 32 TD's.

[player_tooltip player_id='442342' first='Max' last='Huston'], 6'1, 185, QB, Seaman, '25 - after a somewhat slow start following a record-breaking junior season, he has been smoking hot of late and last Friday led Seaman to a 28-14 win over Basehor-Linwood, racking up just under 350 total yards and four TD's. On the season he has completed 96 of 151 for 1,651 and 18 TD passes. On the ground he has carried 70 times for 443 yards and seven TD's to give him 2,000+ total yards and 25 TD's after seven games. This kid is the real deal.

[player_tooltip player_id='1113374' first='Kasen' last='Parsons'], 6'0, 185, QB, Osage City, '26 - the versatile ace led his team to a big win over Silver Lake, 35-21, piling up 300+ yards and five TD's on the night. On the season he has ran and passed for 1,600+ yards and 24 touchdowns and is establishing himself as one of the top dual-threat QB's in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='1228459' first='Casen' last='Carroll'], 6'2, 180, QB, Colby, '25 - has battled through a tough stretch as they have lost the past three weeks but he has been playing at a lights-out level all year. This past week he had 250+ total yards and three touchdowns as they came up just short to Lakin.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664431' first='Savion' last='Stone'], 6'2, 210, QB, KC Washington, '26 - the junior dual-threat gunslinger has taken his game to the next level this year, piling up just under 1,600 yards in total offense, passing for 953 yards and running for 550+ more and added 16 total TD's. This past week he led his team to a 20-6 victory over Kansas City Schlagle and on the year are 6-1. Get your popcorn out for this guy, he's getting ready to put on a show.

Young Guns:

[player_tooltip player_id='1579585' first='Jerick' last='Humphreys'], 6'0, 175, QB, Hesston '27 - the sophomore stud came through again this past week, leading his team to a 28-0 win over Riley County. On the night he was an efficient 15 of 21 for 137 yards and two touchdowns. On the year he has stepped up big, leading his team to an unbeaten 7-0 mark and has completed 68 of 107 passes for 1,184 yards and 12 TD's for an impressive 119 quarterback rating.

[player_tooltip player_id='1542931' first='Trenton' last='Schartz'], 6'2, 195, QB, Ellis '28 - the freshman dual-threat gunslinger had a another first-rate game last week leading his team on a 66-20 rout of Ness City with just under 300 total yards and piled up five TD's. On the year he leads all freshman with 1,022 yards passing, 548 yards rushing and has accumulated 23 touchdowns.

In conclusion, these guys are too good not to go see live. Most will be playing on Saturday's soon, so get out and see them while you can. And, as always, let me know if you run across any studs flying under the radar - give me a shout via DM on X.
