Top performers - Prior Lake vs. Farmington

Everything ramps up once the playoffs start. Some of the performances ramped up during Prior Lake's <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/10/offensive-line-powers-the-lakers-into-the-second-round/">42-14 victory</a> in Farmington Friday night.    Eiter did a bit of everything for the Lakers. He showed hands and speed, catching a wheel route early for a 56-yard touchdown. Then, with two straight runs up the middle, he picked up a first down. In a play that they seemed to run fifteen times, Eiter made a jump cut at the line of scrimmage for five yards and a first down. He made a night of this type of run behind the middle of his offensive line - Cody Field, [player_tooltip player_id='1248643' first='Liev' last='Jacquemart'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1248659' first='Zach' last='Kuehn']. Eiter's vision, with the ability to bump runs over one or two gaps to find room, ate up the Tigers' defense. He used his hands again when he caught a pass in the flat. He made a couple of moves in the open field. The senior should have been tackled for no gain but picked up six yards. He made another nice cut on a sweep for a first down. His quick feet and vision allowed him to bounce a run to the outside for eight yards. After a short touchdown run, he capped off his night with a run right up the middle for a 60-yard touchdown run.     Although they lost the game, I came away most impressed with Ask. He is an excellent all-around player and the best player on the field that night. He has an accurate arm and is an athlete, running the ball on scrambles and designed runs. Early, he hit a crossing route for a first down. Then, he used his legs on a designed quarterback draw to pick up nine yards. During his best run, Ask showed his speed around the edge. He broke multiple tackles and kept his balance down the sidelines for a big gain. After a one-yard touchdown run, Ask improvised on a 15-yard scramble for a first down. Then, he completed a pass into the middle of the field. He hit a receiver in stride on a crossing route. He had a SportsCenter top play nominee when two guys had him lined up for a sack. Ask spun out of the sure sack and lobbed a pass down the sidelines for a 44-yard touchdown. On a more conventional pass play, he hit another completion down the sidelines for thirty yards.     On the goal line, Nadeau made a tackle on the edge, keeping Farmington out of the end zone. He added a quarterback sack late in the game. I think that was the only official sack he recorded, but Nadeau was around the quarterback all night. His time stalking the quarterback concluded with a tackle on a quarterback draw.     Wyandt ran a nice crossing route for a first down. He made a guy miss in the open field to get to the sticks. He made a catch-and-run on a screen, making a couple of quick moves to pick up a first down on a second and twenty. The Northern State commit showed up later with a good catch-and-run on a crossing route.     Mbinda lined up on the edge but was a threat to run inside and out. He got in behind [player_tooltip player_id='1248659' first='Zach' last='Kuehn'] and [player_tooltip player_id='592222' first='Ethan' last='Beckman'] for six yards. He came across the formation and cut up off left guard for a thirty-six-yard touchdown run. The junior showed good patience with a run in the middle, picking his way for seven yards. Later, Mbinda got to the corner and made a couple of Tigers miss for a ten-yard gain. He caught a short touchdown catch, making a man miss at the three-yard line.     Rezny made a tough catch on a short route between two defenders while getting hit. On a deeper ball, his catch and run down the sidelines resulted in a 44-yard touchdown.     Early, Miller defended a sweep well by getting penetration. He tripped up the runner, allowing his teammates to make a tackle. He was Johnny on the spot when he jumped on a fumbled snap. Later, he got to the quarterback in the second half for a sack.     Sather made a tackle at the line of scrimmage for a short gain. Later, he combined with defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1173647' first='Mikhi' last='Chant'] on a tackle on a third and short.     Koenig came flying in to fill a hole and put a big hit on the runner on a third and short – keeping the runner short of the sticks. Later, he ran down the quarterback for a sack. Then, he corralled the quarterback as he tried to get loose on the outside for a short gain.      Speratos got off a block and made a tackle for no gain. Later in the game, he came off the edge to make a tackle on a third and short, preventing a first down.     Greenwood did a nice job in his limited opportunities. He hit a touch pass on a wheel route right in stride, leading to a 56-yard touchdown pass. The senior moved well in the pocket – throwing a roll-out touch pass for a first down near the goal line. He put another quick throw over the middle right on the receiver for a short touchdown pass. Late, he racked up his third touchdown pass with another short touchdown pass.     Wilcek is a big target for the Tigers. He had two impactful catches down the sidelines for two touchdowns, 44 yards, and 25 yards.     On a third and long, Gunderson used his height, allowing him to make a catch in traffic for a 20-yard gain and a first down. He was slightly overthrown a couple of times earlier in the game but showed he was a deep threat. He finally got into the end zone when he caught a short touchdown pass on a crossing route.     Loehlein broke immediately on a quick throw into the flat and made a big hit and tackle. Later, he was step for step with the receiver on a deep ball. He broke on another short ball and made an immediate tackle. He showed his speed down the middle for a kickoff return inside the ten-yard line.     Lyons held the point at the line of scrimmage, allowing Sean Nadeua to make a tackle for a short gain. Then, Lyons stuffed a quarterback draw. His quarterback sack basically stopped a late first-half scoring drive.
