Currenty, the Shore, D North Division has two of those teams; however after week 5, expect there to only be one. Expect a fierce defensive battles as New Egypt heads to Shore

New Egypt rolls into Shore having one of their best seasons in recent memories, with their defense allowing no more than 7 points in any game this year, for a total 25 points against. Having already covered the Warriors' offensive weapons in a previous preview, there are a trio of underclassmen on that they feature who are causing disruptive plays early in their careers. The eldest of the trio, junior [player_tooltip player_id='1514615' first='Sawyer' last='Hughes'], s where we will start. With 22 tackles for the season thus far, Hughes has also recovered a fumble, made 3 tackles for loss, and leads the team with 3 sacks. Having allowed just 7 points in their first 4 games - including, three shutouts in a row - the Blue Devils' look to continue torturing opponents this week. Unfortunately there is very limited data available on Shore, but we do know that [player_tooltip player_id='1041991' first='Brendan' last='O'Brien'] is a ball player for them. O'Brien has scored 5 times this season and has recoreded a tackle for loss. [player_tooltip player_id='1054649' first='Tommy' last='Schroeder'] is appears to be the team leader in tackles, while junior John Mazzacco has scored on a scoop & score.

Southern (4-1) at Brick Memorial (4-1), 6pm

The defensive theme continues as Southern Regional heads to Brick Memorial. Prior to last week's 26-21 loss to Central Regional, the rams had only allowed 8 points across their first three games, including 3 shutouts. Having already covered Southern, a new batch of prospects to be cognizant of begins with senior [player_tooltip player_id='1514618' first='Evan' last='Wyrsch']. Currently second on the team in tackles with 26, Wyrsch hustles and pursues the ball extremely well, as evidenced by his team-high 15 assisted tackles. His senior [player_tooltip player_id='1514619' first='Lucas' last='Favorito'] appears to be a fan-favorite too, sitting amongst the team leaders with 21 tackles, and is the team leader with 4 tackles for loss. Favorito and Wyrsch add to a strong front that already features [player_tooltip player_id='1476840' first='Ty' last='Eck'Art'], [player_tooltip player_id='1476842' first='Levi' last='Foote'], and [player_tooltip player_id='787199' first='Justin' last='Silva'].

No slouch themselves, Brick Memorial boasts plenty of talent too, that has led them to a 4-1 record so far. Offensively [player_tooltip player_id='1514620' first='Jason' last='Lajara'], a junior, seems to be the straw that stirs their drink. The quarterback has gone 30-54 on the season for 703 yards with 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, while also calling his number 50 times on the ground for 367 yards and 6 scores. His favorite target is is fellow 2026 graduate [player_tooltip player_id='1514622' first='Nyzier' last='Matthews']. Matthews has caught 12 balls for 325 yards and 3 scores. A contributor on defense, Matthews has been credited with 13 tackles for the season and has picked off 1 pass. Defensively, senior [player_tooltip player_id='1514624' first='AJ' last='Erhmantraut'] is all over the field. The senior has made 37 tackles (22 solo) with 1 tackle for loss, 1 fumble recovery and 3 sacks. Believe it or not, Erhmantraut might serve in a support role to junior [player_tooltip player_id='1453896' first='Trey' last='Tallmadge'], the team leader with 39 tackles - 29 of which have been solo stops. His 5 tackles for loss currently head the team, while he has also forced a fumble and intercepted a pass.

Jackson Memorial (2-3) at Middletown South (2-3), 7pm

Jackson Memorial roars into the south side of Middletown, as the Jaguars take on the Eagles. Despite the matchup of mascots profiling as a battle ground vs. air, both teams boast strong running games. The Jaguars are led by junior [player_tooltip player_id='212391' first='Jonah' last='Glenn']. Roughly midway through the season Glenn has slashed 58/540/3 on the ground, while also having recovered a fumble on defense. Two juniors give Glenn all the scout team looks he can handle in [player_tooltip player_id='1514626' first='Jio' last='Kabiri'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1021169' first='Jacob' last='Zapata']. The two 2026 graduates seem to jostle for the team lead in tackles with Kabiri currently leading Zapata 40 to 35. Both have a tackle for loss, but Zapata has notched two more solo tackles, edging Kabiri 23 to 21. Kabiri has blocked a kick where Zapata has recovered a fumble for a touchdown.

Having already covered Middletown South, we dig deeper to find some unsung heroes that could potentially impact the game. We first start with senior two-way lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1093205' first='Giuseppe' last='Massagli']. Massagli has made 16 stops on defense, recorded 3 tackles for loss, recorded a sack and even intercepted a pass. Even though the Eagles focus on running the ball, through five games a favorite target as emerged: [player_tooltip player_id='1514627' first='Logan' last='Burbank']. A junior, Burbank has slashed 11/149/1 through the air, leading the team in each category.

Freehold Township (4-1) at Marlboro (2-3), 2pm

Off to a very strong start, Freehold Township is an anomaly of sorts in the high school game, as they are led by their passing attack. With their passing attack outpacing the ground game by nearly 4:1 in terms of yardage, [player_tooltip player_id='1513519' first='Nick' last='Cardone'], a senior, is leading the way. Cardone has gone 95-158 for 1286 yards with 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions, while also adding 155 yards on the ground on 52 attempts. His favorite target is fellow 2025 graduate, senior [player_tooltip player_id='1514631' first='Noah' last='Cancela']. Cancela has hauled in 37 receptions for 393 yards with 6 scores. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1514633' first='Jake' last='Schultzel'] is appears to be the big play threat as he has made 19 grabs for 367 yards and 4 scores for a 19.3 average per reception.

Looking to impede the offense's progress is a a defensive trio from Marlboro. [player_tooltip player_id='1085723' first='Luke' last='Houston'], now a senior, had an outstanding season last fall and is up to the same again this fall. With his one pick, Houston has made 23 stops, 17 of which have been solo. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1514634' first='AJ' last='Muhlbach'] is having a disruptive year on defense. In addition to his 16 tackles, he has forced and recovered a fumble, made 5 tackles for loss, and sacked the quarterback twice. Finally, junior [player_tooltip player_id='1514636' first='Jennaro' last='Percodani'] mas matched Muhlbach stat-for-stat in terms of disruptive plays; however, he is the team's leader in tackles with 34.
