So, without further adieu, let's kick the tires on this game and check in on some of the studs carrying their respective teams:

#8 Oxford Wildcats - (6-1)

The one-loss Wildcats started the season with a 46-0 whitewashing of Sedan, before running into a buzzsaw in week two against #3-ranked West Elk, when they rallied in the second half to draw within a score only to end up losing 52-38.

Sitting at 1-1 going into the third week, they got back on track with a 66-6 thumping of Central, and then scored 80+ points in two of the next three weeks as the offense started hitting on all cylinders.

Last week they dismantled Udall 54-0 to position them for a shot at the District crown tonight against South Central.

For the Wildcats, Cordell Jordan, 6'0 175, ATH, '25, has been on a mission all season doing whatever it takes for his team to win. He has rushed for 816 yards on 73 attempts for an 11.2 average and 13 TD's, while catching 12 passes for 222 yards and three additional TD's, for a total of 17. On defense he has 42 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, five interceptions and is averaging 38-yards per punt.

QB Johnathan Schroeder, 6'0, 170, '25, has stepped up as well, completing 30 of 51 passes for 600 yards and 12 TD's to only one interception. He has also rushed for 463 yards and piled up 22 touchdowns running and passing. When the Wildcats go to a wideout for the long ball it is usually senior Hunter Plummer, 6'2, 180, ATH, '25, who has hauled in seven passes for 150 yards and a sparkling 21+ yards per catch.

The Wildcats also have a number of underclassmen stepping up to help the team get a shot at the title. Keep an eye on sophomore defensive end [player_tooltip player_id='1248293' first='Dahzael' last='Castillo'], 5'10, 225, DE, '27, who has accumulated 19 tackles and is one of the team leaders with four sacks to date.

#4 South Central Timberwolves (7-0)

The undefeated Timberwolves kicked off the year with a 54-8 rout of Meade and followed up with a 50-0 win over Ashland. In week three they hosted Laverne, OK, who would give them their biggest challenge of the year, as South Central held them off 60-46. It would be the only loss suffered by Laverne all year.

From there the Timberwolves really amped things up, hitting the apex in weeks five and six when they won 80-0 over Independent and the next week zapped Udall 88-0. In their last four games they have out-scored their opponents 290-14.

Leading the way for South Central is multi-positional playmaker [player_tooltip player_id='1215327' first='JT' last='Prusa'], 5'10, 175, ATH '25, who has rushed for 744 yards on 60 carries for a sizzling 12.4 yards per carry and 18 touchdowns. On the receiving end he has hauled in eight passes for 187 yards and four more TD's to give him 22 on the season so far. He has also thrown a pair of touchdown passes and on the other side of the ball has contributed 18 tackles and two TFL.

Also stepping up big on the defensive side of the ball has been Jase Rutherford, 6'0, 180, DL '25, who spends the majority of his time in the opposing team's backfield this year and currently leads the team with 44 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.

In conclusion, these guys are ballers and fun to watch, so if you happen to be in Cowley County tonight swing by and catch a great match-up between a couple of ranked teams. Additionally, if you know of any player or team that is flying under the proverbial radar, reach out to me via DM on X.
