Snyder (4-3) vs. Immaculata (5-1) 28-27

The matchup between Snyder and Immaculata was the epitome of high school football. A game that came down to the final seconds, Snyder came from behind to take down undefeated Immaculata. Snyder's exceptional comeback hinged on the success and talents of Rutgers commit [player_tooltip player_id='344218' first='DJ' last='McClary'], who not only ran the ball in for two touchdowns but threw the crucial 66 yard touchdown to set his team up to go for two and upset Immaculata. This game truly had everything you could hope for in a midseason, playoff realigning game. Without that late touchdown pass from [player_tooltip player_id='344218' first='DJ' last='McClary'], you could have thought Immaculata was going to cruise to another victory. Their running attack was near impossible for Snyder to slow down, as their two lead ball carriers, [player_tooltip player_id='1021138' first='Cole' last='Hayden'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1301940' first='Daysir' last='Spille'], torched Snyder's defense for a combined 273 yards on the ground and 2 touchdowns each. Defensively they even impressed in the stats, as [player_tooltip player_id='1021139' first='Luke' last='Laub'] racked up 12 tackles and a sack, and teammate Jordan Harrison also brought the pressure and recorded a sack as well. Both teams are in a great position to make a run in the playoffs, so I would not be the least bit surprised if we came back to them a few more times this season.

Delaware Valley (5-1) vs. Johnson (5-1) 42-34

Under the Friday night lights Delaware Valley was able to topple undefeated Johnson in an exciting fashion. In a game that had a little bit of everything, this high scoring affair had Delaware Valley leading in the game for nearly all four quarters as Johnson ran out of time after making their third quarter surge. Delaware Valley's offense was truly firing on all cylinders, but really shined when spreading the ball around to all of their receiving targets. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1538269' first='Kelton' last='Ibach'] pushed the peddle to the metal and never looked back, as he picked Johnson's secondary apart for 286 yards through the air. Even more impressive, Kelton found the end zone 4 times, finding his receivers for a 4 yard, 26 yard, 43 yard, and 51 yard touchdown. On the receiving end of the majority of Kelton's throws were [player_tooltip player_id='1040419' first='Eric' last='Klemmer'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1538272' first='Ben' last='Cobb']. Both excelled on the field this past Friday, catching a combined 11 receptions for 152 yards and 3 touchdowns. Both also played a huge role in Delaware Valley's defensive success as well, as Eric picked off a pass from Johnson's QB and [player_tooltip player_id='1538272' first='Ben' last='Cobb'] racked up 19 total tackles.

Johnson is still very much a top team within their division and remains a team with a target on their back. Johnson's run offense is scary to contend with once they get going. In Friday's matchup Johnson's lead ball carriers did everything they could to get the ground game going, and that alone almost brought them back from the deficit they were in. [player_tooltip player_id='1021040' first='Robert' last='Gallagher'] led the unit with 101 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns off of 13 carries, while senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1547346' first='Ryan' last='George'] complimented Robert with 15 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown. While Johnson's defense had a tough time slowing Del Val's offense down, there were still glimmers of hope as senior D-lineman Daniel Metroka was able to get into the pocket and record one sack on the night.

Rahway (5-2) vs. Watchung Hills (5-2) 14-10

A battle within the Liberty Silver division, this is one of those games that has huge playoff implications. As the season nears it's ending, a matchup between two strong programs begins the process of setting the stage for playoff placement. The game between Rahway and Watchung Hills did not disappoint as the two battled it out in the trenches in this low scoring event. Improving to 5-2 on the season, Rahway kept Watchung Hills at bay as they held Watchung Hills to a single touchdown and a field goal. Once again, star [player_tooltip player_id='1002386' first='Andrew' last='Avent'] led the effort on both sides of the ball but really helped in shutting down Watchung Hills from having any offensive success. Andrew flew around from the linebacker position as he always does, making play after play and accumulating 9 tackles and a sack. Helping to quench Watchung Hills' pass and run game was senior defensive lineman Imir Bearfield. Imir was also able to find his way to Watchung Hills' quarterback and finished the day with 4 tackles as well. Offensively, [player_tooltip player_id='1002386' first='Andrew' last='Avent'] led the charge on that front as well as he took 16 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown. However, Rahway was also able to find a little bit of success through the air as well, and a lot of that had to do with wide receiver Synceir Touissant's playmaking abilities. Synceir was able to take a 30 yard reception to the house and finished the day with 3 catches for 60 yards and a touchdown.

For Watchung Hills, not all is lost after Saturday's defeat. With a 5-2 record, they are still very much in the conversation as a playoff contender. Much of that has to do with quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1206812' first='Mason' last='Kelly']. Mason may not have found the end zone through the air this past weekend, but he ran one in and threw the ball for 170 yards. On the receiving end of Mason's passes was star receiver [player_tooltip player_id='723582' first='Brayden' last='Kelly']. Brayden eclipsed the 100 yard mark as he caught 5 passes for 102 yards. This tandem alone gives me hope that Watchung Hills will bounce back from this loss and get back to their winning ways next weekend against 3-4 Elizabeth.
