Playing defensive back is maybe the hardest job in all of football, and yet these five make it look easy. From true ball hawks, to freak athletes, I would avoid trying to throw on these 8th grade (2029) So. Cal DBs.

To start off the list let's look at [player_tooltip player_id='1515867' first='Kiingbaraka' last='Kizzee']. Kizzee is a corner who shows impressive ball skills, and his 6'2 frame lets him play press man coverage very effectively. While Kizzee is a very good corner, I think his incredible tackling ability, fantastic make-up speed, and ball hawking abilities will have him profile better as a safety at the next level. It's rare to see a middle school corner weigh 170 pounds, and Kizzee uses his superior frame to rack up tackles for loss. Kizzee will be good at whatever position he plays, and opposing QBs better know where he is, lest they pay the price.

Next up on the list is another name you're going to want to pay attention to, as [player_tooltip player_id='1515868' first='Nathan' last='Chandler'] has the looks of a future star. Chandler is both a corner and wide receiver in middle school, and just like Travis Hunter, he is incredible at both. Having wide receiver skills means two big things for a corner. One, they are going to be able to catch a lot of INTs, and more importantly they have an innate understanding of the receiver route tree. Chandler showcases all of the above, constantly locking down his matchup and finding ways to generate turnovers when the QB does dare to throw his way. Chander is also more than willing to come up and make a big hit, a rare sight from a corner.

Third on the list is San Diego Bolt's [player_tooltip player_id='1515873' first='Devin' last='Davis']. Davis is another DB/WR hybrid and his athleticism flashes off the screen. Having good speed as a receiver is a nice bonus, but as a corner it's a necessity. Davis certainly has speed, especially showcasing incredible make-up speed, so even if you burn him off the line (good luck doing that) blink and he is going to be right back on your tail. Davis also has jump out the gym hops, so floating a pass over his head is all but impossible.

The fourth player on the list is [player_tooltip player_id='1515885' first='Andrew' last='Gamboa']. First off standing at 5'9 130 pounds, it is likely Gamboa becomes a prototypical slot corner in High School. Being a slot corner means you likely have to match up against the fastest receiver, but Gamboa's incredible speed makes sure that won't be an issue. Like the other four on this list Gamboa is a pure blooded athlete, taking reps at wide receiver as well as defensive back. Like previously mentioned, having receiver skills as a DB gives you a great competitive edge, and that is all that Gamboa needs to lock up whoever is lined up opposite of him.

Last but not least is Buckeyes DB Isaiah Danns. Zay, as he goes by, is another DB/WR hybrid who demonstrates great athleticism. More importantly than that however is the technical ability he showcases as a corner. Fluid hips and great anticipation lead to Danns being a PBU machine, constantly going up and swatting passes out of the sky like bugs. Danns showcases in a few clips his great ability to read a receiver's eyes, in one instance having his back completely turned away from the throw but still throwing his arm back and breaking up the pass right as it arrives. Overall Danns is a sound and technical corner, a true coaches dream

Playing defensive back is maybe the hardest job in all of football, and yet these five make it look easy. From true ball hawks, to freak athletes, I would avoid trying to throw on these 8th grade (2029) So. Cal DBs.
