Every Friday on Prep Redzone Oklahoma, we'll be putting the spotlight on the very best of the best. This is our PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of The Year Watch List. Each week, we'll add three more names to the watch list and following the season, we'll name ten finalists and then announce the winner of the 2024 Prep Redzone Oklahoma Player Of The Year award. This is our fifth season at Prep Redzone Oklahoma and we're looking forward to another outstanding year of high school football. Be sure to check back in every Friday to see who has been added to this year's PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of The Year Watch List! And below this week's nominees, you can also go back and look at who else has been put on the watchlist, as well as previous winners of the award. Here are the next three names!

[player_tooltip player_id='353419' first='Caden' last='Davis'] - Senior Linebacker - Carl Albert

Carl Albert senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='353419' first='Caden' last='Davis'] has been one of the best defensive players in Oklahoma for three seasons now. So it's only fitting that he's included on the watchlist as one of the best players in the state. Davis first got onto the scene during his sophomore season. He became an 1st Team All State selection while playing on the defensive line and becoming one of the state's leaders in sacks. As a junior in 2023, Davis moved back to a more fitting position at linebacker and was once again selected as an All State 1st Team pick. This season, Davis is the unquestioned leader of a Carl Albert defense that has shut out six of their first seven opponents and has only given up seven points on the season. The Carl Albert senior once again leads the team in tackles and tackles for loss. He's also second on the team in sacks and is part of a front seven that is absolutely terrorizing opposing offenses. Throw in the fact that Davis can chip in on the offensive side of the ball as a short yardage specialist at running back and you have one of the best players in the state today. Carl Albert has a great case for being the best team in the state and Davis has them in a spot to go after a third straight title.

[player_tooltip player_id='211555' first='Cash' last='Williams'] - Senior Quarterback - Choctaw

For the second straight season, Choctaw senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='211555' first='Cash' last='Williams'] has been one of the more consistent presences in Class 6A-2 football. Last week, Williams helped lead Choctaw to a 35-28 victory at home against Stillwater in a game that will more than likely decide the district championship. The Yellowjackets have a legitimate shot to capture that elusive state championship and it's because of players like Williams. The senior and Tennessee baseball commit has been as steady as they come, leading a Choctaw offense that has been absolutely rolling over the last month. They ran into a stretch in non-district play where they played defending state champs in back to back weeks. Since then, the Yellowjackets have been perfect. Williams has thrown 18 touchdowns with only two interceptions and he's also a threat on the ground. But what makes Williams and the rest of this Choctaw offense so dangerous is he's not having to do it all like we saw from him last year. This season, Williams has had help and you could make an argument for a couple different Yellowjackets that deserve to be on this breakdown. Choctaw has been knocking at the door in 6A-2 and this year, they might kick it in.

[player_tooltip player_id='572028' first='Kleat' last='Martens'] - Senior Quarterback - Hooker

Hooker senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='572028' first='Kleat' last='Martens'] had to make this breakdown this week after helping lead his team to a 38-7 win over Fairview last week. They ended Fairview's 36-game winning streak, became the new top team in Class A-2 and won the rematch of last year's state championship game. For Martens, it was a night of redemption after last year's title game. In that game, he reaggravated an injury and could only sit and watch as his team had to settle for silver. In the week seven rematch, Martens would run for three touchdowns and throw another one as the Bulldogs became the new team to beat in Class A-2. This season has seen Martens become the most efficient he's ever been when it comes to passing. He's thrown 19 touchdowns with only one interception and has a higher completion percentage than either of the last two seasons. And as we saw last week, Martens is still a significant threat to run the ball. Even though Hooker has one of the better sophomore running backs in the state, don't overlook this senior quarterback when he decides to tuck the ball and take off. And while Martens is the latest member of the Watchlist, this should really be looked at as a team award because they have plenty of names to know.
