The Hayden Wildcats knocked off the Holton Wildcats 31-7 in a Class 3A district contest.

Here is a look at four Hayden athletes who helped the Wildcats improve to 5-1 on the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='716114' first='Jett' last='Wahlmeier'], QB, 5'10”, 185, Hayden, ‘25

Wahlmeier is a talented quarterback who can throw a deep ball. Hayden had way more success throwing the ball than Holton did. Wahlmeier is currently ranked No. 314 overall in the Kansas Class of 2025. He throws well on the run and can hurt teams with his legs. He entered the game having thrown for 684 and eight touchdowns. He threw two early touchdowns including one that went for 33 yards.

Hunter Diederich, OL, 5'10”, 277, Hayden, ‘25

An unranked offensive lineman I was impressed with was Hayden's Diederich. He is the starting center for the Wildcats and I would recommend him to any NAIA or JUCO coach in Kansas in need of a center. He has the quickness to move to guard, but I would leave him at center. He has strong legs, a low center of gravity, and is hard to move. He was really solid in pass protection against Holton.

[player_tooltip player_id='1228516' first='Broderick' last='Desch'], RB/DL, 5'8”, 188, Hayden, ‘25

Desch is currenlty ranked No. 203 overall by Prep Redzone. He is a physical football player with multiple college offers. He carries the ball like someone wants to steal it from him. He is lode to bring down and is a solid lead-blocker as a fullback. He has college offers from Bethany and Kansas Wesleyan. He is scheduled to take a visit to an MIAA school before the season is over.

[player_tooltip player_id='1113404' first='Kade' last='Mitchell'], RB, 5'9”, 170, Hayden, ‘26

Mitchell is currently ranked No. 109 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. Mitchell is an elusive runner with good hands. He is an option to catch the ball out of the backfield and could be used as a slot receiver in a different offensive scheme. His speed also is a factor when he plays defense. He could be used on the defensive line or as a linebacker.
