Brody Kaestner has done a solid job playing under center for Alburnett this season, contributing greatly to the team's 4-2 start. Kaestner had his best game of the season in week 6 against Columbus Catholic, finishing 11 of 15 for 232 yards, 3 touchdowns, and a pick. Kaestner has had his fair share of up-and-down moments this season, but he looked poised on Friday night, and was able to piece apart the secondary very well. Alburnett has surpassed their win total from last season, and Kaestner could very well be on his way to leading Alburnett to a potentially deep playoff run.

[player_tooltip player_id='1614184' first='Judd' last='Jirovsky'] makes his return to the list as he continues to play incredibly well to start this season. In a huge matchup on the road against South Hardin, Jirovsky led Grundy Center to a shutout victory, finishing the night 12 of 17 for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns passing while adding 48 rushing yards on 12 carries and 2 touchdowns. Playing a prime matchup on the road, Jirovsky handled the pressure extremely well, making smart reads and great progressions on his throws while also churning solid yardage on the ground. Jirovsky now has 14 touchdowns to 0 picks to start this season and Grundy Center has now won 35 straight games since 2022. Jirovsky has done well in leading the primary powerhouse of Class 1A.

While Pella Christian struggled to keep up with Sigourney Keota's offense on Friday night, Brecken Ritzert was airing the ball out and enjoyed one of his best performances of the season. Ritzert finished the night 17 of 38 for 279 yards and 3 touchdowns while adding 5 carries for 21 yards. Ritzert had several hit-or-miss moments, but when he hit, he was hitting on huge plays that helped keep his team in the game up until the 4th quarter, but Ritzert has shown promise as an explosive passer with dynamic scrambling ability. If Ritzert can improve his accuracy, he could develop into being a dangerous passer.

[player_tooltip player_id='609822' first='Drew' last='Keith'] has led Wilton to a 6-0 start, and he played with comfortable ease in the pocket on Friday night as Wilton shut out Cascade. Wilton finished the night 19 of 24 for 222 yards, 3 touchdowns, and one pick, while adding 58 rushing yards on just 4 carries. Keith threw a lot of beautiful floaters, showing a great level of touch and accuracy on his deep throws as well as hitting perfect passes to his WRs in man-coverage to their back shoulder. Keith continues to justify his status as one of the top QBs in the state right now and the team should continue to thrive with Keith leading the way.

Sam Julin has had a solid senior campaign so far, and taking on Eagle Grove on the road in week 6, Julin had a very effective game leading the way for the Raiders. Julin finished 12 of 19 for 171 yards, 3 touchdowns, and a pick, and he also added 47 rushing yards on 7 carries. Julin did a good job in finding quick completions over the middle and managing the offense, but it was the last drive of the first half that really stood out to me, in which he threw a 15 yard touchdown to his RB with 1 second left on 4th down, completing what was a well-orchestrated one-minute drill. These kinds of performances will pay off well as the season goes on for Julin.

Pleasantville cruised to a 4-2 start with a shutout win over Colfax-Mingo on Friday night, and [player_tooltip player_id='1197483' first='Braylon' last='Bingham'] didn't have to do too much, but he delivered well on the lighter workload he received during the night. Bingham finished 9 of 16 for 148 yards and 3 touchdowns while adding a rushing touchdown. Bingham made some great throws over the middle, showing good timing in his reads and throwing at the exact point of where the receiver will make his cut on the route, and his touchdown run also further displays his underrated mobility. Bingham has 19 total touchdowns and the offense for Pleasantville will rally around his continued development in the pocket.

While Ogden wasn't able to spoil the homecoming for South Hamilton, CeJay Jones did a great job keeping up in what was a shootout game. Jones finished the night 24 of 39 for 342 yards and 3 touchdowns passing in what was by far his best performance of the season. He was slinging the ball effortlessly during the night, nailing several beautiful deep passes, and he gave South Hamilton all they could handle despite the loss. If Jones continues to play like this, Ogden should be excited for what could come with CeJay under center.

Treynor escaped with a 24-23 road win over Underwood, and [player_tooltip player_id='533047' first='Ben' last='Casey'] delivered a strong game to help Treynor improve to 5-1. Casey finished the night 14 of 22 for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns. Casey had some great throws over the middle and while his scrambling ability was limited by the defense during the game, he still showed excellent mobility in getting out of the pocket and keeping his eyes down-the-field to find an open receiver. With two games left in the high school football season, Casey will look to help Treynor push deep into the postseason and finish his time with Treynor with a potential state championship.
