Having previously served as acting head coach in the 2007 Shrine Bowl, Kingstree's Reggie Kennedy had a blueprint upon which to model this year's team.

For the 2024 South Carolina Sandlappers, Kennedy and the coaching staff put together an offense with flexible playmakers at the skilled positions and physical linemen who can make the gameplan run smoothly.

Here's a breakdown of the 2024 South Carolina Shrine Bowl Offense:

Quarterbacks - [player_tooltip player_id='272713' first='AJ' last='Brand'] Irmo, [player_tooltip player_id='272698' first='Will' last='Wilson'] Richland Northeast and [player_tooltip player_id='346189' first='Cutter' last='Woods'] Westside

The trio orchestrate the Palmetto State's most potent offenses. Whether as dual threat or precision passers, all three display a unique form of leadership. A starter the past three seasons and last year's Class 4A Offensive Player of the Year, the Virginia Tech commit Brand produces a high number of yards (1,433 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, one interception; 615 rushing yards, nine touchdowns) with a very low number of turnovers. A North Carolina State commit, the 6-foot-1, 225-pound Wilson is as dangerous a runner as passer as seen by his over 3,000 career rushing yards in four seasons. His ability to improvise coupled with a strong arm keeps opponents on their heels. Woods, a University of South Carolina commit and Class 4A All-State selection last year, is the more pocket passer out of the three Sandlappers. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound senior has quick instincts and a knack for putting his wide receivers in possession to make a play for the football.

Running backs - [player_tooltip player_id='605525' first='Marquise' last='Henderson'] Belton-Honea Path [player_tooltip player_id='1012718' first='TyDarion' last='Grier'] Fairfield Central and [player_tooltip player_id='1012627' first='Landon' last='Stone'] Clover

The number one senior prospect in the Prep Red Zone South Carolina Class of 2025, the Clemson commit is a threat to score whether getting the handoff or catching a screen pass. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Henderson is also strong for his size and has over 5,000 total yards for his career. Once seen as primarily a wide receiver, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Grier can go from North to South to East and West with blazing speed. His receiving skills makes it difficult for opponents to put a spy on him. An upright runner with 4.62 speed, the 6-foot, 190-pound Stone is difficult to catch once he finds an opening. He's also utilized at wide receiver and has a 99-inch vertical leap.

Wide receivers - [player_tooltip player_id='272708' first='Chamarryus' last='Bomar'] Westside, [player_tooltip player_id='1013040' first='Connor' last='Brown'] North Augusta, [player_tooltip player_id='1012834' first='Malik' last='Clark'] Rock Hill, [player_tooltip player_id='464881' first='Jayden' last='Sellers'] South Florence, [player_tooltip player_id='1012616' first='Mikkel' last='Skinner'] Riverside and [player_tooltip player_id='1254122' first='Jamarcus' last='Smith'] Gaffney

A transfer from J.F. Byrnes and Appalachian State commit, Bomar has quickly become a favorite target of [player_tooltip player_id='346189' first='Cutter' last='Woods']. Possessing solid hands, quick field vision and deceptive upper body strength, Bomar can turn short catches into long touchdown runs. Despite missing most of this season with a broken collarbone, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Brown has shown his impressive route running and a knack for making difficult catches while facing heavy coverage. A University of South Carolina commit, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Clark has performed well at camps with his 4.39 speed which makes him a deep threat. The younger brother of University of South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers, the 5-foot-11, 165-pound younger Sellers is a difficult one-on-one matchup. His speed and leaping ability allows him to get separation from defenders. At 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Skinner is a tall target for his quarterbacks both as a wide receiver and tight end. A two-sport athlete, Skinner brings his track speed to the field where he's an elusive runner with the football. A James Island commit who reclassified over the summer, Smith is determined to score any time he catches the football. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound senior goes into high speed as he looks towards the endzone and possesses secure hands with only one fumble in two years.

Tight Ends - [player_tooltip player_id='809747' first='Brady' last='Ambrose'] Catawba Ridge and [player_tooltip player_id='1249764' first='Jordan' last='Collins'] South Pointe

A two-sport athlete, the 6-foot-4, 224-pound Ambrose is a region champion shotput thrower who's also a power forward in basketball. He sometimes lines up as an extra wide receiver or serve as an effective run blocker. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Collins possesses strong upper body strength as he's willing to take on bigger offensive lineman to provide a path for his running back. He bench presses 305 pounds and provides a secure receiving option for his quarterback.

Offensive Linemen - [player_tooltip player_id='1254123' first='Jake' last='Duncan'] Crescent, [player_tooltip player_id='1054250' first='Victor' last='Goree'] South Pointe, [player_tooltip player_id='1253897' first='Christian' last='Huynh'] Carolina Forest, [player_tooltip player_id='1157815' first='Kevin' last='Peay'] Lancaster, [player_tooltip player_id='346198' first='Bryce' last='Rainwater'] Hillcrest, Shed Sarratt Gaffney, [player_tooltip player_id='1359112' first='Hunter' last='Taylor'] Greenville, [player_tooltip player_id='762756' first='Kendall' last='Walton'] Lamar, and [player_tooltip player_id='1360295' first='Aiden' last='Wiles'] North Central

At 6-foot-3 and 290 pounds, Duncan is active in all three phases of football. Whether it's a persistent defensive tackle, a dependable blocker on offense or even lining up at punter, he can be relied upon to provide a positive. The 6-foot-2, 275-pound Goree quickly attracted the Shrine Bowl coaching staff's eyes during the summer tryouts held at Airport High School. His reach and power allows him to overwhelm defenders and protect his quarterback. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Huynh (pronounced WIN) also had a high showing at the tryout. Once the ball is snapped, it's full steam ahead as Huynh overpowers anyone in his path. A Georgia Tech commit and Class 4A All-State selection last year, the 6-foot-3, 286-pound Peay fits the athletic and versatile gameplan being implemented by the Sandlappers. Fast, overpowering, and agile, Peay pounces over defenders who find themselves in a physical mismatch. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Rainwater has nimble feet which shows in his pass protection and is always pushing the pile forward at guard. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Sarrett is effective at tackle or guard. A basketball player, he uses his brute strength to drive block and gain the upper hand coming off the line of scrimmage. At 6-foot-6 and 295 pounds, Taylor is the tallest lineman on the Sandlappers. His willingness to throw his body around at tackle or guard and willingness to take on any defender in his path makes him a valuable asset. At 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, Walton is an intimidating presence on the Class A level where he made All-State last season. He often towers over the opposing linemen he faces in the region and his mobility enables the Silver Foxes' running offense. Called “the best player on the field” by Knights' h head coach Daniel Sisk, the 6-foot-2, 270-pound Wiles (pictured) plays offensive guard and defensive tackle at a high level. His stamina enables him to pressure the quarterback on one play and quickly return to bulldoze over a defender. This past weekend against Chesterfield saw Wiles score on a 1-yard run.
