5A Oregon Mid-Season All State 1st & 2nd Team "O"

Here we will break down Oregon's top players midway through the season. Per usual if you play for one of the better teams in the state, you are much more likely to be selected as an all-state athlete. This is not a recruiting-based list.   Please note there will be extended 1st & 2nd team selections in lieu of 3rd team or honorable mention picks.          Positionally the QB's at the 5A level were definitely one of the most impressive groups. Three-year starter [player_tooltip player_id='511861' first='Sawyer' last='Teeney'] would likely be the leading candidate for POY honors as of right now, with Oregon St baseball commit [player_tooltip player_id='511864' first='Mark' last='Wiepert'] leading the state statistically and averaging 314 yards per game with 28 TDs/5 INTs.   Three year all conference starter [player_tooltip player_id='406763' first='Noah' last='Blair'] has had another good year, with [player_tooltip player_id='285871' first='Kaden' last='Martirano'] sitting on the D1 bubble after making the transfer from West Salem to West Albany. Last but not least, standout freshman [player_tooltip player_id='904208' first='Zeke' last='Thomas'] who will be one of the best in the state for years to come, throwing 20 TDs/3 INTs for Crescent Valley.   RB [player_tooltip player_id='1011382' first='Angel' last='Valenzuela'] has his team back in the title hunt after a phenomenal sophomore season, with [player_tooltip player_id='754595' first='Ceville' last='Pasi'] of Churchill putting up some of the best numbers in the state and helping the Lancers to a 6-1 record.    Two other backs who have been off the charts good include [player_tooltip player_id='1232743' first='Daniel' last='Heninger'] of Glencoe and [player_tooltip player_id='1103441' first='Maveryck' last='Akers'] of Willamette. Heninger has had numerous 200+ yard games with Akers averaging 7 yards per carry with 14 TDs on the year. Both are underclassmen.    [player_tooltip player_id='1216443' first='Cruz' last='Veliz'] of Woodburn has been one of the top 5A players in Oregon even with the team struggling. His ability run the ball at QB shows off his overall athleticism, averaging close to 100 yards per game with 14 rushing TDs thus far.    [player_tooltip player_id='759688' first='Lukas' last='Babbitt'] is one of the top two-way threats in the state and a big reason Churchill is ranked #4 at the 5A level. [player_tooltip player_id='412221' first='Tyler' last='Hart-McNally'] will be a three year all conference kid and is as versatile as they come.    A lot of credit to Wake Forest with their commitment from [player_tooltip player_id='754594' first='Jack' last='Foley']. He has the potential of being one of top receivers ever to come out of Oregon. BYU commit [player_tooltip player_id='406754' first='Jackson' last='Doman'] is very similar in that he could have an incredible collegiate career.    [player_tooltip player_id='285874' first='Nick' last='Crowley'] has one of the fastest rising stocks in the state, averaging 120 yards receiving per game with 13 TDs on the year. [player_tooltip player_id='285872' first='Truman' last='Brasfield'] made the transfer from Corvallis to Crescent Valley and is currently leading the state in multiple statistical categories, including yards per game and receiving touchdowns.    Silverton is ranked #1 coming off a big win over Wilsonville. WR [player_tooltip player_id='1474336' first='Hudson' last='Waples'] has been one of Oregon's breakout players of the year, with TE [player_tooltip player_id='1216435' first='Brody' last='Kuenzi'] dominating.    Washington St commit [player_tooltip player_id='407173' first='Austin' last='Simmons'] has backed up the hype and then some, putting together a ridiculous year. His 11 catches for 225 yards and 3 TDs against Lebanon highlight his arsenal of talents. 6-5 Junior TE [player_tooltip player_id='1403779' first='Charlie' last='Dexter'] has been influential for Churchill who could make a playoff run.    Up front both [player_tooltip player_id='1538647' first='Brash' last='Henderson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1326761' first='Eli' last='Willis'] of #1 Silverton will be in the conversation for offensive lineman of the year honors.
