West Springfield vs South County Players to Watch

<p>A fun one going down tonight in Lorton, Virginia with two of the best teams in Class 6 facing off in a slugfest. Here are a few players to watch below:</p>   <p><strong>West Springfield:</strong></p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Top ranked quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1297629' first='Brian' last='Walrath'] has had two weeks to manifest what Hayfield did to him and the Spartans. It does not get much easier in his next game against a South County defense that is tough as nails. I am curious to see how he bounces back and gets the Spartans back on track offensively. My prediction is that he does and the hype train for Walrath continues.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Division 1 uncommitted prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1362837' first='Aaron' last='Turney'] is seeing his recruiting pick up some steam, with a visit tomorrow at UNH. A good showing tonight should turn a few of these visits he is attending into offers. The safety had three interceptions as a junior and will look to come down with his first tonight. Turney and the Spartans defense should bounce back from last week too, but we wont know for sure until later tonight. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/aaronturney9/status/1833307020406988966 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">The Patriot District player of the year in 2023 [player_tooltip player_id='1362821' first='Mark-Anthony' last='Whyte'] is a tough matchup for any defense. He too has been eager to get back on track as Hayfield was able to corral him back in Week 0. I would not be surprised if Coach Parker looks for different ways to get him involved with the passing game tonight to get the Stallions on their toes. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/ihaveakluenow/status/1727900486387237268 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Big time offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1297738' first='Ayaan' last='Mirza'] is elite and will be counted on to make room for Whyte up front. Mirza has all the traits to play major college football, facing a defensive lineman littered with FBS level prospects will be quite the task. Him going against [player_tooltip player_id='1228846' first='Hunter' last='Malecki'], [player_tooltip player_id='1232280' first='Trent' last='Brooks'] or Matthews will be mandatory viewing. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/Ayaan_Mirza57/status/1804566168939663539 </div></figure>    <p><strong>South County:</strong></p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Matthews is off to fast start as he enters his final season for the Stallions, the linebacker may lead the District in tackles in 2024. Two weeks ago he was all over the field in their victory over Robinson, he will need to be on point going against the firepower the Spartans have on offense. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/mani_ontop23/status/1830978388200464618 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700"></p>    <p>Stud linemen [player_tooltip player_id='1230259' first='Jordan' last='Muhanyi'] is playing well and was flat out dominant two weeks ago in their win. The Stallions offense is not off to a great start and they could use this game to rely on Muhanyi and company to get the run game going. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/JordanMuhanyi/status/1830957687275954466 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Speaking of the running game [player_tooltip player_id='1233188' first='Seif' last='Koroma'] has been impressive in spite of the lackluster start offensively for the Stallions. Facing a powerhouse in Quince Orchard last weekend, Koroma did find the endzone and he had over 100 total yards. He makes plays and is weapon in the backfield and at receiver, which will be interesting to see where he lines up tonight. Koroma needs to be a priority for the South County offense, he is dangerous with the football in his hands.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/SeifKoroma/status/1833133648503050625 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Tell you what [player_tooltip player_id='1297724' first='Trevion' last='Campbell'] sure as heck battled his tail off against Quince Orchard, obtaining 9 receptions in a spirited effort. Campbell was facing one of the toughest defensive backs in the east coast for much of the evening and he won a lot of the matchups. While his team's outing was disappointing nobody should be frowning at this dude, he competed until the final whistle. Love his route running ability I would expect a deep shot or two called his way early in this one.</p>
