Enjoy!

Every Monday this season, we kick off the week by looking at the ten best games across the state of Oklahoma. And because we can't follow our own rules, we have even more than ten games to look out for this week! Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma every day this week and throughout the season for the best coverage of Oklahoma high school football. Later this week, we'll also take a look at the Washington Warriors as they prepare for a showdown with Sulphur. We'll put a more in-depth spotlight on arguably the two best games this week as Jenks will host Owasso and Lincoln Christian goes to Heritage Hall. And we'll finish off the week by taking a look at the players to watch this week as well as our second installment of the Prep Redzone Oklahoma Player Of The Year Watchlist!

BISHOP McGUINNESS AT BISHOP KELLEY

The annual rivalry game with Bishop Kelley and Bishop McGuinness will take place a week earlier than normal but it's "stick week" nonetheless. In our opinion, this is one of the more underrated rivalry games in Oklahoma and it doesn't get enough attention statewide, let alone in Class 5A. These two rivals met twice last season with Bishop Kelley winning the regular season meeting while the Irish would eliminate Bishop Kelley in the 5A quarterfinals. Bishop McGuinness opened their season last week with a loss at home to Deer Creek so they'll be looking to bounce back. For Bishop Kelley, they certainly haven't forgotten about last year's playoff exit and are excited to open the season at home Friday night.

DAVIS AT PAULS VALLEY

Pauls Valley took care of business in their rivalry game with Lindsay on Friday night and now they turn their attention to one of the top teams in Class 2A-2 this season. Traditional powerhouse Davis will come to town and if you're planning on going to this game, we suggest you get there on time because with the way both of these teams run the ball, if you're late, it might already be halftime. The Panthers have one of the best running backs in the state and he got off to a great start on Friday night. Davis will counter with their option offense where they look to ground and pound their opponents. We'll be able to learn a lot about both teams by the time this game comes to an end on Friday night.

DEER CREEK AT EDMOND MEMORIAL

If you like quarterback play, this is the week one match-up for you because there simply won't be another game in Oklahoma that has better QB play than this one. Edmond Memorial and their star quarterback will host Deer Creek and their star quarterback. Both signal callers are headed to the next level to play power four D1 football. And both teams were absolutely dominant on the road in their season openers against top five teams from Class 5A. Deer Creek put up 50+ points against Bishop McGuinness while Edmond Memorial would shut out Del City. The quarterback play will be strong but this is just a great match-up in general, featuring two teams in Class 6A-1 that expect to be playoff teams.

FAIRVIEW AT KINGSTON

Defending Class A state champion Fairview won their 31st consecutive game last week when they beat Alva on the road. They put that winning streak on the line once again when they face a very experienced Kingston squad. Fairview has the best player in this match-up with their star quarterback but Kingston probably has the edge in experience and the Redskins are also coming off a 10-win season a year ago. Fairview has won the last two state championships in Class A and they are the favorites to win it again. Kingston is a top five team in Class 2A-1 so the Redskins will certainly be a challenge to Fairview. This week one slate is absolutely loaded with games featuring top five teams and games full of storylines.

JONES AT KIEFER

Kiefer will host Jones in a very intriguing Class 2A-1 match-up. Both teams are ranked in the top ten and both teams come into this season with sour tastes in their mouths after disappointing endings to their 2023 seasons. Both lost in the semifinal round and they did so in heartbreaking ways. Kiefer fell on the final play of the game while Jones let a big lead over eventual champion Washington slip away. Now, they square off against one another in this week one match-up. It will be the first game for the Trojans as they look to reload from last year's run to the semifinals. On the other side, you have a Jones team that is 1-0 after a dominant win over Luther and the Longhorns look like a strong contender once again.

LINCOLN CHRISTIAN AT HERITAGE HALL

This is the first of two games on Friday night that feature the top two teams and this battle takes place in Class 3A. Defending champion and top-ranked Lincoln Christian will hit the road to Oklahoma City to face #2 Heritage Hall. This is a rematch of last year's Class 3A state championship game and a renewal of what has been a very fun rivalry over the last five years. However, we've only seen these two meet in the playoffs so it'll be good to see them square off in the regular season. The Chargers will be opening their 2024 football season at home and they face a Lincoln Christian defense that is incredibly strong. The Bulldogs are 1-0 after going on the road and shutting out Victory Christian in week zero.

OWASSO AT JENKS

In the other match-up featuring top-ranked teams, we'll see 6A-1's top-ranked Jenks hosting #2 Owasso. The Trojans took over the top spot after Bixby fell on Friday night and these are two teams that are absolutely red hot right now. The Trojans looked as close to perfect as you can look in a season opener when they beat Edmond Santa Fe. Offensively and defensively, the Trojans were brilliant in week zero. And as for Owasso, the shockwaves of their week zero win over Bixby are still being felt across the state. And while many are calling it an upset, it certainly didn't feel that way on the field. Owasso was the better football team and now, they turn their attention to a new top-ranked team on Friday night.

REJOICE CHRISTIAN AT CASCIA HALL

Rejoice Christian goes on the road to face Cascia Hall on Friday night in yet another match-up featuring top five teams. Rejoice Christian absolutely rolled in their season opener as they welcomed back their star quarterback and had a few other players emerging with potential. On the other side of this match-up, you have a Cascia Hall squad that brings a high-powered passing attack but they certainly got a scare in week zero. They had to rally from 12 points down in the fourth quarter to beat rival Holland Hall in their annual "Hall Brawl" game. Now, we see another excellent quarterback match-up as Rejoice has a terrific athlete who lines up at quarterback while Cascia Hall has one of the best passing signal callers in the 2026 class.

SULPHUR AT WASHINGTON

Washington is in a similar position to Fairview this week where they have a brutal week one game that will put their 31-game winning streak in jeopardy. Sulphur comes to town on Friday night and the Bulldogs have a very experienced and talented squad that is looking to contend for a state championship in Class 3A this season. Washington has been simply flawless during their 31-game winning streak and they have rarely been challenged. They will be on Friday night but if they pass with flying colors and score another big win, the question definitely needs to be asked on whether this team can be beat this year or if they're destined to get that third straight state title. Sulphur looks to end that streak.

UNION AT STILLWATER

Stillwater opens their 2024 season at home Friday night against a 6A-1 powerhouse in Union. The Redhawks already have one game under their belt after going over to northwest Arkansas and beating Bentonville in overtime. Union had to rally in the final minutes of regulation to force the extra period but they survived and come into this week at 1-0, led by a very impressive offensive unit. And this game has the potential to see plenty of fireworks because Stillwater is not lacking talent on the offensive side of the ball. They have a very underrated quarterback and multiple weapons at wide receiver. It's been a while since these two teams have met because of the 6A split but this is an underrated non-district clash.

FIVE MORE GAMES TO WATCH

CARL ALBERT AT MIDWEST CITY

After a 13-0 setback in week zero, it's time to bounce back for Midwest City but the Bombers have a very tall task on Friday night as they welcome in defending 5A champion Carl Albert. The Titans have won the last two state championships and 25 consecutive games. For Carl Albert, Friday will be their season opener as they begin their pursuit on a third consecutive state title.

DEL CITY AT BOOKER T WASHINGTON

It's another solid 5A clash in Tulsa on Friday night as Booker T Washington will host Del City and both teams are looking to bounce back following tough week zero losses. The Hornets opened up the Dan Bitson era with a loss to 6A-2 champion Muskogee while Del City was shut out against Edmond Memorial. Both teams are hungry for a win and both teams have talent to watch.

FAYETTEVILLE, AR. AT BROKEN ARROW

Broken Arrow continues their battles against northwest Arkansas as they welcome Fayetteville to town. The Tigers scrimmaged against Bentonville West, opened the season last week against Springdale Har-Ber and will now host a Fayetteville squad that is coming into this year as a reigning state champion. The Tigers looked great in the season opener, specifically on offense.

MEEKER AT PAWHUSKA

An intriguing small school match-up in northern Oklahoma will see Pawhuska hosting Meeker. The Bulldogs have a first year head coach but they also have one of the better athletes at the quarterback position. On the other side of the match-up, you have a Pawhuska team that was dominant in their season opener and they have some high expectations for this season.

STROUD AT CHANDLER

It's the season opener for both teams and both Chandler and Stroud come into this season as top ten teams in their respective classes. Stroud brings back a ton of experience from last year's team and they are hoping that returning experience will give them the edge against the Lions. This is a Chandler team that has had Stroud's number recently, winning the last four in the series.
