It will be a rainy Week Four for us here in Tennessee but that won't stop the action! We have a strong slate of games this week with a nice mix of non-region and regional matchups that will be fun to follow. Below are the top games to watch during Week Four.

Greeneville (2-1) at Alcoa (1-1) - Thursday

- The Week Four slate kicks off big on Thursday evening with a strong Greeneville team traveling down to Alcoa to face a hungry Tornadoes squad. This should be an interesting game to follow as I could see either team winning but I have to say that Greeneville is walking in as the favorite. The Green Devils have been impressive thus far with an explosive offense, starring junior wideout [player_tooltip player_id='1181026' first='Zaydyn' last='Anderson'] while their defense has been one of the best in the state, led by senior backer [player_tooltip player_id='390715' first='Drew' last='Armbrister']. The Tornadoes offense will be tested by Armbrister and his defense, so managing the clock could be Alcoa's best shot at coming out with a win.

Antioch (3-0) at Oakland (3-0)

- The biggest test of the season for Antioch comes this Friday as they travel to Murfreesboro to take on state power, the Oakland Patriots. The road Bears have had a strong start to their 2024 season but they will find out exactly who they are after Week Four. The Patriots present a big challenge for Antioch but the Bears bring a talented passer in [player_tooltip player_id='378901' first='Andre' last='Adams'] and some athletic playmakers that could make a difference. Oakland has a stellar defense, led by senior backer [player_tooltip player_id='402528' first='Caleb' last='Ellison'] that plays a physical brand of football and that's something Antioch hasn't seen yet this year. It will be fun to see how Adams and the Bears perform and if they keep it close or win, Antioch will then be seen as more than legit but a team that can go deep in postseason play.

Jackson Christian (3-0) at USJ (3-0)

- One of the more interesting games from our Week Four slate is this inner-city matchup between the Eagles and Bruins with one of them going home taking their first loss of the season. Both of the teams have run through their opponents up to this point with the top guys playing like stars. The Eagles are led by the senior duo of [player_tooltip player_id='390711' first='Austin' last='Kelley'] and [player_tooltip player_id='219345' first='Jaylen' last='Mosley'] while versatile athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1080185' first='Noah' last='Spencer'] is having a Mr. Football start to his senior year. While both team's have solid defenses, I expect this to be a high scoring affair that isn't settled till the 4th quarter. Whichever defense can slow down the opposition's run game best I think will come out on top.

- - - - -

Ensworth (3-0) at Knox. Catholic (3-0)

- Two of the biggest surprises coming out of the D2-Class AAA ranks are these two teams, who both sit undefeated after picking a few big wins thus far on the season. Ensworth picked up a huge win two weeks over MBA, showing me and the state that they are legit, especially a defense that is loaded with senior talent. Knox. Catholic is playing well right now and maybe a year ahead of schedule. Sophomore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='496084' first='Mack' last='Bartholomew'] has been an outstanding addition that is filling in nicely for an injured senior and performing beyond his underclassmen status. The Tigers slowing down Bartholomew, [player_tooltip player_id='284149' first='Tyreek' last='King'] and the Fighting Irish offense will be the key towards coming home with the road win.

- - - - -

White Station (2-1) at Whitehaven (2-1)

- This could be a physical battle that goes to the wire as this is a big inner-region matchup that might prove to be the difference in making postseason play for the winning team. Athleticism galore will be on display all over the field for both teams but which team will have the edge? Stopping junior back [player_tooltip player_id='1431775' first='Christopher' last='Talley'] is at the top of the list for White Station as this elusive ball carrier has been a tear early this season and should see a lot of carries in this contest. The Spartans have a solid defense that will present some challenges. Turnovers will be the key. Whichever team can minimize the turnovers, will come out on top and whoever does, will get one inch closer to the playoffs.

Maryville (3-0) at Knox. West (2-1)

- It's been a great start to the 2024 season for Maryville but they are facing their toughest competition yet in Knox. West this Friday in what could be a defensive slugfest. The Rebels come to town with a better roster but Knox. West is a winning program with a strong culture, so nothing is given for Maryville going into this game. Where the road Rebels can continue their winning ways is with an increase in their rushing attack with [player_tooltip player_id='361227' first='Price' last='Davis'] along with their defense staying dominant. Keep an eye on [player_tooltip player_id='1137205' first='Matthew' last='Covert'] as he has been playing outstanding ball thus far. Maryville has yet to allow a point but it may be tough to keep Knox. West off the scoreboard. I think this should be an outstanding football game where either team could walk away as the victor.

CPA (3-0) at MBA (2-1)

- The Big Red host their 3rd top game of the year thus far with the undefeated Lions of CPA heading to the neighborhood in what could be a game on the ground, headlined by the team's star running backs. MBA brings in a top ten senior back in [player_tooltip player_id='258658' first='Brooklen' last='Davis'] while CPA counters with junior ball carrier [player_tooltip player_id='1335216' first='Rawls' last='Patterson']. Both of these offensive threats have had good starts to their 2024 season's and both will be needed to produce at a high level to see either of the squad come out with a win. I foresee this being a low scoring, defensive affair with the line of scrimmage being the star. CPA is the favorite but watch out for the Big Red!

- - - - -

Germantown (2-1) at Riverdale (2-1)

- It's rare that you see a regular season matchup like this season but we get it in Week Four with Germantown traveling four hours East to Murfreesboro to take on the Warriors. Both teams are coming off defeats but Riverdale was held scoreless, so I'm sure they are ready to get back on the field and prove themselves worthy. It will be tough as the Red Devils bring a strong defense to town, led by defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='461255' first='Yasir' last='Muhammad'] that could make things difficult for Riverdale. Defensively, I think the Warriors will be fine as they have a solid front seven and a talented secondary but it will be up to their offense if the home team wants to knock off Germantown.

- - - - -

Baylor (3-0) at Lipscomb Academy (1-2)

- Talent galore will be all over in the field in this matchup as Baylor and Lipscomb Academy may have the best two rosters of all high school teams in the state of Tennessee. Don't look at the record of Lipscomb Academy as the Mustangs are loaded, especially in the line of scrimmage where we should see a nice battle between [player_tooltip player_id='219412' first='Chauncey' last='Gooden'] and Red Raiders junior D-lineman Javier Arenas-Michel. The Baylor offense has been clean and steady thus far while the Mustangs defense has been good as well. I think this game will be a challenge for the undefeated Red Raiders as the Lipscomb will be hunting to knock off the top ranked team in the state.

Sequatchie Co. (2-1) at South Pittsburg (2-1)

- After starting the season at 0-1, both Sequatchie and South Pitt have won back to back games and began to look like the teams I and others thought they would be going into the 2024 campaign. Now they must face-off against one another in Week Four with a great opportunity at picking up a big win and moving to 3-1 on the year. The Indians come in with a veteran team while South Pitt is young but talented, so I think the play of senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='279486' first='Sam' last='Evitts'] will be key towards the road team coming out with a win. It will be a challenge because the Pirates have some talented skill players but I like the Indians in this Chattanooga area throwdown.
