Big time players step up in big time games and that's exactly what Cabell did last week in the Lions commanding win over BGA. This #PRZTN Top 20 ranked prospect proved he was the best player on the field among several future college guys. Cabell was unstoppable, using his size and speed to dominate the Wildcats secondary on the way to producing 200 plus yards and three touchdowns. Putting up numbers like this within a prime time game as well as against a secondary with multiple college guys is impressive and only builds his stock further as one of the top overall offensive talents from our in-state junior class.

Newman has been on a tear this year with last Friday possibly being his best performance yet. The Smoky Bears sophomore quarterback was near flawless as he threw only four incompletions while tossing for over 300 yards and seven touchdowns. Newman does a good job of taking what the defense gives him while also making decisive throws down field that are put on time and accurately. I don't know how this East TN signal caller will be able to top this performance but I'm sure he will try!

When you are a defensive tackle and you produce like this, it's hard not to be named defensive player of the week. Holcomb had a monster game last Friday in the Tigers 42-0 win over Liberty Tech where he was a disruptor in the backfield all night long. The Tigers junior was not only a force against the run but also the pass where he picked up two sacks. Holcomb is having a breakout junior year as he has been putting up big numbers week in and week out, so don't be surprised to see him earn this honor again somewhere down the road.

O-line of the Week

Columbia Academy Bulldogs

- Coming off a road loss to Huntingdon, the Bulldogs came back big in Week Five as they took down region foe DCA, 28-7. It was a commanding win for Columbia Academy with their O-line standing out as they paved the road for [player_tooltip player_id='1002753' first='Montae' last='Baldwin'] to run for over 230 yards. The big men up front also did a good job of keeping their quarterback clean and giving [player_tooltip player_id='1192882' first='Stephen' last='Nieves'] enough time to get the ball off. The Bulldogs have a strong group up front, led by senior [player_tooltip player_id='1323060' first='Blake' last='Barker'] and bookended by rising junior star [player_tooltip player_id='1136472' first='Daniel' last='Cepicky'] that kept the Wildcats D-line in-check, especially a 4-star recruit headed to Tennessee. It was an overall good performance from the Bulldog big men that bodes well for the remainder of the season.

Team of the Week

Whitehaven Tigers

- The Tigers are on the rise and a team you may not want to face come postseason play. Just ask the defending 6A champs as Whitehaven went into Houston last Friday and took down the Mustangs, 21-14 in what was one of the best games of the season thus far. It was a collective effort from the Tigers that saw some clutch plays happen on offense while “The Haven” defense did a great job of keeping an explosive Houston offense in-check. This was a statement win for the Tigers, who now sit at 3-0 in their region and a leg up on the competition. A tough schedule remains for Whitehaven but last week's win proves that the Tigers belong.

Positional Players of the Week

QB POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='964976' first='Kannon' last='Burroughs'] - Green Hill ‘26

- Burroughs was a major force behind the Hawks commanding region win over Lebanon last week. This junior quarterback did what he needed to through the air but caused a lot of problems with his legs where he produced four rushing touchdowns on the evening for a grand total of six.

Stats: 10-14 passing for 128 yds & 2 TD's (14 carr. for 190 yds & 4 TD's)

RB POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='933067' first='Terrion' last='Thomas'] - GCA ‘27

- This Knoxville area ball carrier is breaking on the scene in a big way this Fall with last Friday being his best performance yet. It didn't matter what Thomas did on offense, anytime he touched the ball, he pretty much scored. The production of catching the ball is silly but he went ahead and produced a sack on defense while he was at it. Keep an eye on this guy moving forward as a top offensive talent from the #TN2027 class.

Stats: 10 carr. for 130 yds & 2 TD's; 4 rec. for 185 yds & 4 TD's (2 tcks, 1 TFL & 1 sack on Def.)

WR POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='1323462' first='Hudson' last='Curlee'] - Pope Prep ‘26

- Curlee proved to be a key cog last week in the Knights big region win over Goodpasture. Pope Prep won this ball game by one point, so all three touchdown's produced by Curlee proved to be vital. This junior wideout has been coming on this season as a guy to watch due to his athleticism and speed that could flourish in the slot.

Stats: 6 rec. for 139 yds & 3 TD's

- - -

ATH POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='829084' first='Deuce' last='Greenhill'] - Crockett Co.

- The Cavs put a lot on the shoulders of Greenhill and he tends to always deliver, much like last week where he was a dynamic weapon at receiver while remaining steady on defense, producing 10 tackles. His future in college will be in the defensive backfield but his speed and big play abilities on offense are much needed for the Cavaliers this season.

Stats: 5 rec. for 196 yds & 2 TD's (10 tcks on Def.)

DL POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='1210664' first='Jayden' last='Arenas-Michel'] - Baylor ‘26

- The Red Raiders D-lineman could not be blocked in last week's commanding region win over Brentwood Academy. Arenas-Michel had his best showing yet here in Tennessee by producing five sacks on the night, consistently playing in the Eagles backfield. Look for more big games out of this Canadian native moving forward.

Stats: 7 tcks, 5 TFL & 5 sacks

- - -

LB POTW: Sam Cretsinger - Johnson Co.

- Cretsinger has been a key defensive force all season long for his Longhorns team with last Friday being his best performance of the year. Not only did the East TN linebacker produce 14 tackles on the night but performed well in pass coverage too by adding two interceptions and taking one back for a pick six.

Stats: 14 tcks, 3 TFL & 2 Int's w/ 1 pick six

DB POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='1310658' first='Isaiah' last='Roseberry'] - Mt. Juliet

- Roseberry was a key performer in the Golden Bears big region road win over Cookeville last week where he placed himself around the ball on a consistent basis, producing 13 tackles while also playing strong coverage on the back end. He was also a weapon in the return game too while hauling in a touchdown pass on offense as well.

Stats: 13 tcks, 3 PD & 100 ret. yards (29 yd TD rec.)
