As we enter the month of September, the 2024 high school football season is in full swing in the state of Kentucky. With that being said, we just wrapped up another round of rankings updates, finishing with the class of 2027. After covering the top players at each position in the class, I wanted to take some time to focus on some under the radar 2027 prospects who are just outside of the top five at their position. After already covering the offensive side of the ball, here are some under the radar defensive prospects in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200651' first='Leron' last='Jackson'] is a player who has been on my radar for a while now and has continued to impress so far this season. Jackson lines up at outside linebacker where he is very reliable against the run, showing the ability to read the play and flow to the ball carrier in a hurry to make the tackle before they can get going. Through two games, Jackson has 17 tackles and four tackles for loss. He has also caught one pass for 17 yards on offense. Leron doesn't currently hold any offers but he should be a player to keep an eye on as he continues to develop.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200716' first='Brayden' last='Holland'] is another linebacker who has impressed so far this season. Holland lines up at inside linebacker where he does a great job against the run. He reads his keys quickly then gets to the ball carrier in a hurry and is a very reliable tackler once he gets there. Through the first two weeks, Holland leads the team with 24 tackles. Holland doesn't currently hold any offers but he will be a player to watch over the next few seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='514005' first='Jaquise' last='Smith'] is a player who jumped onto my radar last season and has continued to make an impact as a sophomore. Smith lines up at defensive tackle where he is very reliable against the run. He plays with a ton of physicality, showing the ability to stack and shed blocks with ease. Smith also has shown the speed to get to the ball carrier in a hurry to make the tackle in the open field. Jaquise has recorded five tackles and three tackles for loss through two games. He has also shown the ability to rush the passer, recording one sack so far this season. Jaquise doesn't currently hold any offers but he is definitely a player to keep a close eye on.

My final under the radar defensive prospect in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky is [player_tooltip player_id='1200704' first='Noah' last='Partin']. Partin lines up at corner where he is very impressive in pass coverage. He does a great job of reading routes then breaking on the ball with perfect timing to make a play when it is thrown his way. Noah is off to a great start to his sophomore year, coming away with three interceptions in the first two games. Partin doesn't currently hold any offers but he will be an intriguing prospect to watch moving forward.
