<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1604919' first='Chance' last='Aspaas'], Kirtland Central</strong>: Aspass threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns, two to WR Jharrin Tyler, in the Broncos' loss to cross-border opponent Pagosa Springs. Kirtland Central rallied from a large third-quarter deficit to make it a one-score game in the fourth quarter but couldn't get any closer.</p>

<p><strong>Mikey Beck, Farmington</strong>: The 6-foot-3 Beck entered the season as one of the top WRs in the Land of Enchantment and so far he's living up to the hype. Against regional rival Durango (CO), Beck had double digit receptions for 100+ yards and 1 TD, a 30-yarder right before halftime. Beck demands double teams, which opens things up for his teammates. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='853022' first='Peyton' last='Duncan'], Bloomfield</strong>: Caught three TD passes in the first half of Bloomfield's 47-34 victory over Four Corners neighbor Piedra Vista at Hutchinson Stadium. Bloomfield scored 33 points in the first half, 19 in the second quarter, against the Panthers.</p>

<p><strong>Brig Keiser, Piedra Vista</strong>: The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Keiser had 160 yards and 2 TD on a workhorse 35 carries in Piedra Vista's shootout loss to Bloomfield. </p>

<p><strong>Zakkius Negale, Newcomb</strong>: 10 tackles and 1 sack in the 26-8 win over Santa Fe Indian School.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1119659' first='Xavier' last='Nez'], Navajo Prep</strong>: Nez had a big game both throwing and running to lead the Eagles past Wingate, 40-18. Navajo Prep's scheduled season opener against Shiprock was cancelled due to severe weather.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1595671' first='Landon' last='Noble'], Newcomb</strong>: One of the state's top rushers through two weeks resides in the small town of Newcomb. Noble had 170 yards rushing and 2 TD on 33 carries against Santa Fe Indian, mostly between the tackles. Through two games, Noble has 343 yards and 5 TD on a workhorse 68 carries.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1595714' first='Waylon' last='Schake'], Farmington</strong>: The Scorpions traveled to Durango, Co. to square off with their regional rival, the Durango Demons, and held on for a one-point win, 21-20. Schake was a major contributor on both sides of the ball. As the QB, he threw for 2 TD and ran for another, a 28-yard scamper late in the third quarter for the final points of the game. On defense, he had 2 INT. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='615635' first='Blake' last='Spencer'], Bloomfield</strong>: The Class 4A Bobcats proved again they have one of the best high-powered offenses in the state as Spencer threw for 421 yards and 5 TD while rushing for another in a 47-34 victory over 6A Piedra Vista. He completed 19-of-21 passes, so he threw just two incompletions on the night. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1258872' first='Seth' last='Torres'], Miyamura</strong>: Rushed for 2 TD, caught a pass for another score and broke off several long runs as Miyamura beat Aztec, 48-15. Torres has 4.5 speed and has an offer from College of Wooster in Ohio. </p>

<p><strong>NORTHERN</strong></p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1119160' first='Soren' last='Annon'], St. Michael's</strong>: He raced 71 yards for a TD late in the first quarter of the Horsemen's 37-0 rout of crosstown rival Capital and sparked a running game that produced 180 yards. </p>

<p><strong>Jesse James Gonzalez, Robertson</strong>: Gonzalez passed for 204 yards and 3 TD while rushing for 72 yards and 1 TD in Robertson's 49-0 win at Cobre. Two of his TD passes to exciting freshman <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613284' first='George' last='Smith']</strong>, who finished with 4 TD total. </p>

<p><strong>Izaiah Juarez, Santa Fe</strong>: Emerging as the Demons top option at quarterback following a three-way battle through summer and preseason camp, Juarez rallied Santa Fe to a 34-28 victory over Belen. Juarez ran for two TD in the third quarter to tie the score at 21-21 before running for another game-tying score (28-28) early in the fourth. After the Demons defense stopped Belen, Juarez led the Demond on a 63-yard drive for his game-winning 14-yard TD run with 2:17 left. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='837203' first='Victor' last='Parra'], Espanola Valley</strong>: The Sundevils improved to 2-0 with another impressive victory, 42-7 over Cuba. Parra rushed for 129 yards on just 7 carries as Espanola Valley, which has thrown the ball just once in two games, amassed 366 rushing yards against the Rams. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1129687' first='Jonah' last='Villegas'], Pojoaque Valley</strong>: Villegas rushed for 132 yards and 1 TD on 12 carries as Pojoaque Valley made the long trip to Hot Springs and posted a convincing 48-6 victory over the Tigers.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1154948' first='Isaiah' last='Carpenter'], St. Pius X</strong>: The Sartans relied mostly on the run in their Week 1 contest against West Mesa with dynamic sophomore RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1154954' first='Hershul' last='Olloway']</strong> doing most of the damage. In Week 2, they relied more on the pass as Carpenter registered 4 TD passes, three to talented 6-foot-3 sophomore <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1154956' first='Cayl' last='Cox-Liggins']</strong> (8 receptions, 115 yards, 3 TD). </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='615632' first='Uriel' last='Castro'], Bernalillo</strong>: Castro completed 10-of-17 passes for 167 yards and 2 TD, including a clutch 35-yarder to WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1599893' first='Joseph' last='Duran']</strong> midway through the fourth quarter, to pull Bernalillo within a point of Highland. Castro overcame two first half interceptions to propel the Spartans to the hard-fought victory.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1594652' first='Nathan' last='Encinias'], Bernalillo</strong>: Encinias, an underrated RB, rushed for 94 yards and 1 TD on 17 carries in a 20-19 victory over Highland. His most important carry came midway through the fourth quarter when he ran left into the end zone for a successful two-point conversion for the game-winning points.</p>

<p><strong>Tommy Gallegos, Atrisco Heritage</strong>: Gallegos threw for 184 yards and 3 TD on 15-of-27 passing in the Jaguars' loss to Centennial Saturday at Community Stadium. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1257357' first='Mason' last='Gurule'], Volcano Vista</strong>: Gurule rushed for 104 yards on 23 carries and helped spark Volcano Vista's second half comeback against Las Cruces at Community Stadium. Freshman RB <strong>D'Angelo Mitchell</strong> had 2 rushing TD for the Hawks. </p>

<p><strong>Jahleel Lewis, Sandia</strong>: The Matadors struggled in Week 1 against Piedra Vista but put everything together in Week 2 in all three phases. The 6-foot-3 Lewis was 15-of-25 passing for 201 yards and 1 TD in Sandia's 37-7 win over Cibola. Lewis combined with freshman RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613382' first='Gad' last='Harris']</strong> (129 yards rushing; 172 total yards) to give the Matadors a productive offensive attack.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='615426' first='Alex' last='Lopez'], Highland</strong>: The Hornets QB rushed for 69 yards and 1 TD on 17 carries and made a team-high 10 tackles, one for loss, on defense against Bernalillo.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1248667' first='Dominic' last='Lucero'], West Mesa</strong>: Lucero threw for 210 yards, averaging over 23 yards per completion, and 4 TD as West Mesa beat Mayfield, 41-33, at Field of Dreams Saturday afternoon. One of his TD throws went to junior WR <strong>Marcos Ochoa</strong>, who had 4 receptions for 144 yards. Two went to <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='615617' first='Ronnie' last='Gilletti']</strong>.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='615425' first='Amiri' last='Mumba'], Highland</strong>: Despite Highland's hard-fought 1-point loss at Bernalillo, the incredibly strong Mumba was fantastic again with 244 yards rushing on 25 carries, including a 50-yard scamper for the game's first points. Mumba has 535 yards rushing in just two games, putting him more than halfway to the 1,000-yard mark with eight games left in the regular season.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='611120' first='Juan' last='Munoz'], Cleveland</strong>: Munoz, who transferred from Capital before the 2023 season, scored three rushing TD in the first half as the Storm routed Los Lunas, 56-7, at Lightning Bolt Stadium. Munoz combined with <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1600936' first='Samuel' last='Bustillos']</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1595801' first='Isaiah' last='Yannis']</strong> for a powerful rushing attack that saw all three score multiple TDs. Bustillos had a 72-yard TD run in the final seconds of the second quarter soon after his 66-yard scoring run.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='611083' first='Mason' last='Posa'], La Cueva</strong>: In a huge win for both La Cueva and New Mexico HS football, La Cueva traveled to Flagstaff, Az. to face Phoenix (AZ) Pinnacle and won in double OT, 39-32, overcoming a slow start and two weather delays. Posa, a Wisconsin commit, had 13 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack and a rushing TD.</p>

<p><strong>Adam Quesada, Legacy Academy</strong>: Quesada rushed for 102 yards on 17 carries (he split RB duties mainly with [player_tooltip player_id='1595657' first='Noah' last='Sanchez']), caught 2 passes for 28 yards and made 3 tackles (1 TFL) on defense as Legacy edged Hope Christian Saturday at Milne Stadium.</p>

Takahashi, the unsung hero of Rio Rancho's Week 1 win over Atrisco Heritage, rushed for two TD. The Rams defense forced four turnovers.</p>

Varela had 4 receptions for 45 yards and 1 TD on offense, two sacks on defense and a fumble recovery for a TD from a blocked punt on special teams. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1137388' first='Daniel' last='Amaro'], Las Cruces:</strong> Amaro scored two rushing TDs on a pair of 16-yard runs in the first half as the Bulldawgs took a 21-7 halftime lead over Volcano Vista. However, the Hawks stormed back in the second half and the outcome wasn't decided until the final seconds when the Bulldawgs' FGA hit the crossbar.</p>

The Gadsden defense has yet to give up a point in two games.</p>

<p><strong>Jaiden Gonzales, Organ Mountain</strong>: Gonzales accounted for all three Knights TDs in their close loss to Deming in three different ways. He caught a 13-yard TD pass from QB <strong>Xavier Perez</strong>, rushed for a 2-yard TD and threw a 40-yard TD pass to WR <strong>Anthony Gomez</strong>.</p>

Ramirez combined with [player_tooltip player_id='837060' first='Rudy' last='Rios'] (8 carries, 98 yards, 2 TD) for 185 yards rushing and 5 TD. The Hawks face Artesia Saturday at Field of Dreams.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1119255' first='Brock' last='Beaty'], Hobbs</strong>: The Eagles QB threw for 205 yards and 4 TD in their wild 44-40 victory over Artesia. Beaty fired a 38-yard TD pass to Justic French with just over 5 minutes left in the 4Q for the game-winning score in the back-and-forth contest. It was Beaty's second TD pass in just over 1 minute as he threw to <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1266895' first='Gabe' last='Henry']</strong> for a TD that brought the Eagles within 40-38 with 6:14 left. Eight of Beaty's completions went to younger brother <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1600876' first='Braddock' last='Beaty']</strong>, a junior. Braddock had 118 receiving yards and 2 TD.</p>

Through two games, he's completed 68.5 percent of his passes (37-of-54) for 4 TD and zero INT. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1089649' first='Cole' last='Seidenberger'], NMMI</strong>: The Colts unleashed their punishing ground attack in a season-opening 35-0 win over Loving with Seidenberger, the QB, scoring two first-half TDs. He added a rushing TD in the 4<sup>th</sup> quarter for the final points of the game. NMMI outgained Loving, 279-113.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1119319' first='Cohen' last='Tomasits'], NMMI</strong>: In the 3<sup>rd</sup> quarter alone of the Colts win over Loving, Tomasits caught a 22-yard TD pass from Seidenberger, intercepted a pass and recovered a blocked punt at the 2-yard line. In the fourth quarter, he broke up a pass on 4<sup>th</sup> down.</p>
