Last Season (6-4)

Liverpool took a big jump last year after finishing with 2 wins in 2022. Last year was almost the tale of 2 separate seasons - They started off 3-0 with three consecutive blowouts. They followed that up with 3 consecutive losses, 2 of which were not particularly close games. They followed with two close victories, one in the first round of sectionals, until they met eventual champions Christian Brothers Academy. Last season, Liverpool was VERY young, with multiple freshmen and sophomores getting serious playing time at serious positions.

Keegan is one of many major prospects on this squad, and his measurables and athleticism separate him from the field in the 2027 class. The first non-RB ranked, he is a dynamic athlete who got his feet wet on varsity last season and has the potential to become one of the top offensive contributors in New York this season.

At 6'7 ", Keegan is a unicorn in New York, especially considering the way he can separate and move as a route runner—a similar body type to former Newburgh star and current WR at Rutgers Deondre Johnson (6'8", 200 lbs). Keegan right now is a receiving threat first and a blocker second, although he has the body to really fill out, add strength, and become a prospect who can block from the in-line TE position at the next level.

Otis put some really good stuff on tape as a freshman; the 6'5, 225lb edge prospect is one of the bigger defensive linemen in Section III. At his size, he will be able to physically dominate a lot of the offensive linemen he will face - it will be key games against CBA-Syracuse and Cicero-North Syracuse against offensive tackles both committed to Syracuse, where Otis will be tested this year. It will be intriguing to see if he has taken a step forward from his freshman year. He has the measurables, but the rest of his game will need to continue to develop as he continues his HS career.

Sindoni returns as one of the top quarterbacks in Section III and will enter his third year as the starter since starting his freshman season. Last season, Sindoni was responsible for over 1,200 yards and 18 touchdowns, more than doubling his touchdown and yard total as a freshman. He also helped Liverpool triple their number of wins.

Sindoni can take a big jump this year; with playmakers surrounding him on offense, more consistency/efficiency on offense will be key for Sindoni to take another step forward. He shows he can create and extend plays outside the pocket when things break down but completed only 53% of his passes last year, a slight improvement from his 51% as a freshman.

Morris, who got some reps at RB, was primarily an LB for Liverpool as a Freshman. He showed the ability to come down and consistently make plays around the LOS. Morris is a big LB prospect who may grow into a defensive end. He is explosive off the LOS and does a good job blowing up blocks and finishing plays.

Devereaux will slot into the #1 WR spot for Liverpool this fall after being the #2 guy last season and the senior WR prospect.
Reed returns as Liverpool's top offensive and defensive lineman. With solid measurables at 6'4, 310 lbs, Reed has the size to play at the next level. Defensively, Reed was strong at the point of attack and ate blocks well. He can play multiple positions on the DL and flashes some good movement skills and quick feet. His junior tape is all on the DL, but he has some decent padless camp work on his Twitter and projects to be one of the better lineman prospects in Section III.

2024 Outlook

HC: Joe Sindoni

A fairly typical full Section III schedule for Liverpool, who have likely circled matchups against the three teams they dropped games to last season: Baldwinsville, Cicero-North Syracuse, and Christian Brothers Academy. Good news for Liverpool: all three of those teams have to replace their quarterbacks, who all graduated and will play football or lacrosse in college. Liverpool returns experience at the QB position and sports a really talented young group of playmakers. Liverpool has a chance to contend for a Section III championship this season. After two wins in 2022, last season, they were unlikely to make that big of a jump, but the steady progress, in addition to the strength of their 2027 class that holds potentially multiple FBS prospects, puts them in the conversation.

3 Things Going For The Warriors

They return good experience at every offensive position.

Although just a Junior, their Quarterback brings more varsity experience than most Section IIIs QBs

They have some of the top young talent in New York

1 Area To Be Concerns

They lost some offensive pieces at every position—WR1, RB2, RB3, and a couple of linemen.

The Last Word

I think Liverpool, barring some unfortunate seeding, will make it to the Section Championship this season; I think they have so much young talent that all will take significant steps forward and go from intriguing prospects with measurables and solid tape to more dominant high school players. Will they overcome CBA? It will be hard; CBA has one of the best senior classes in New York and returns the biggest and most experienced offensive line in all of Central, Western, and Upstate New York. I think Sindoni takes a jump at quarterback, but last season, both CBA games combined for a score of 115-7. Will their improvement make up a 108-point gap over two games? The answer is probably not, but they certainly have a chance to compete and steal a game from the Brothers, and they could be setting up for a 2024 year that looks wide open in Section III.
