<p>The name of the game in Week 4 across the Midlands might have been defense. We saw several teams hold opponents to small offensive numbers, leading to us to give Game Balls to nine defenders. But the offenses had their share of standouts as well.</p>

<p><strong>AD Basnight</strong> WR and <strong>Montieth Brown</strong> RB, Mid-Carolina</p>

<p>Basnight accounted for three touchdowns and Brown added two scores as the Rebels won their third in a row with a 49-14 victory over Pelion. Basnight had four catches for 119 yards and two scores and added a rushing touchdown. Brown chipped in with 164 yards rushing to go along with his two TDs.</p>

<p>Belk engineered a game-winning 89-yard drive that ended in a 4-yard TD run by <strong>Keon McKinley</strong> with 29 seconds remaining to lift the Highlanders to a 21-14 victory over Cardinal Newman. Heathwood Hall trailed 14-0 but Belt connected with <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1249733' first='Onis' last='Konanbanny']</strong> on two TD passes to give first-year coach Tymere Zimmerman his first career win.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='272713' first='AJ' last='Brand']</strong> QB and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='377560' first='Donovan' last='Murph']</strong> WR, Irmo</p>

<p>This duo has been doing it all season for the undefeated Yellow Jackets. Brand finished 16-of-21 for 236 yards and a touchdown and added 107 yards rushing and two scores in a 38-12 victory over Myrtle Beach. Brand now has 1,288 yards passing and 490 yards rushing and 21 total touchdowns this season. Murph caught 10 passes for 145 yards to run his season total to 42 receptions for 600 yards.</p>

<p>Diggs accounted for five touchdowns and Grier added over 300 yards rushing to help the Griffins to a come from behind 49-42 victory over Newberry. Diggs threw three TD passes and added two rushing scores while Grier accounted for two touchdowns.</p>

<p>Dopson played his first game of the season, and he led the Bearcats to their first win in a 34-27 decision over South Aiken. Dopson threw two touchdown passes and more importantly led Brookland-Cayce move players back to their normal positions as they opened region play with a victory.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1467834' first='Jay' last='Eady']</strong> QB and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1157982' first='Montrelle' last='Keys']</strong> LB, Airport</p>

<p>Eady, the Eagles freshman quarterback, threw for a score, ran for a score and caught a TD pass to give Airport its first win of the season in a 34-16 decision over Aiken. Eady finished with 184 total yards. Keys was instrumental on the defensive side of the ball with two interceptions and a sack to go along with 10 tackles, four tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries. </p>

<p>The Gamecocks scored 49 first half points in rolling to a 56-7 win over Spring Valley. Fortune took over as the lead running back and for 270 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries. Sumter limited the Vikings to 94 yards of total offense with Burson totaling nine tackles, a sack, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup.</p>

<p><strong>Jayden Foulks</strong> DB, Saluda</p>

<p>Foulks returned an interception 27 yards with 7:40 remaining in the third quarter and that turned out to be the deciding points in the Tigers 19-14 win over Southside Christian. Foulks also had another interception and Saluda picked off five passes overall. Foulks also added three tackles and a tackle for loss. The Tigers limited Southside Christian to 200 yards of total offense and just 18 yards rushing on 17 carries.</p>

<p>Gownes made the most of his four rushing attempts in the Raiders 26-20 victory over Orangeburg-Wilkinson. He finished with 112 yards rushing and two touchdowns to help Keenan to improve to 3-2 overall. He added one tackle from his defensive back spot as well. Dixon, a sophomore, finished with 17 tackles and a tackle for loss.</p>

<p>Montgomery had his best game of the season, and the War Eagles snapped a two-game losing skid with a 25-21 win over Midland Valley. Montgomery scored three touchdowns, including the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter in the region opener. He finished with 154 yards on 21 carries and returned a kickoff 73 yards. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1422592' first='Caleb' last='Pinkney']</strong> ATH, River Bluff</p>

<p>Pinkney did a little bit of everything in the Gators 44-0 shutout of Cheraw, but it was his 30-yard interception return in the first quarter that set the tone. River Bluff limited the Braves to 83 yards of total offense, including just six yards passing. Pinkney finished with three tackles and added seven carries for 72 yards.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='346199' first='Landon' last='Sharpe']</strong> QB and <strong>Kae'veon Bennett</strong> DB, White Knoll</p>

<p>Sharpe accounted for three touchdowns in the Timberwolves 49-13 victory over Cane Bay. He senior threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns and added another 74 yards rushing and a score. Bennett recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown. </p>

<p>The Silver Foxes recorded their third shutout in four games in a 51-0 victory over Oceanside Collegiate. Smith (pictured) led the way defensively with six tackles, a sack and a tackle for loss. Williams was disruptive at the line of scrimmage with four tackles, a sack and three tackles for loss. The Landsharks finished with just 92 yards of total offense.</p>

<p>In what might have been the best half of the season, Turner threw for 301 yards and touchdowns to four different receivers and added a rushing touchdown to help the Skyhawks jump to a 55-0 lead at the half that ended in a 55-21 victory over Hilton Head Christian.</p>

<p>Defense was at a premium in the Redhawks 7-0 win over Blythewood and Washington and Jones led the way. Washington intercepted a pass in the end zone with 1:20 remaining to seal the victory. Jones provided a consistent pass rush with two sacks that helped keep the Bengals offense off the scoreboard.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1267286' first='Amadre' last='Wooden']</strong> RB and <strong>Tanner Watkins </strong>QB, Batesburg-Leesville</p>

<p>The duo combined to be involved in six of the Panthers touchdowns in a 60-0 rout of Calhoun County. Wooden carried it 13 times for 198 yards and touchdown runs of 68, 11 and four yards in a game where Batesburg-Leesville didn't punt. Watkins was 4-of-5 through the air for 93 yards and three touchdown passes. He connected with <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1592414' first='KD' last='Whitt']</strong> on scores of 64 and 5 yards and connected with <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1574124' first='Jamerius' last='Clark']</strong> on a 15-yard scoring pass. </p>
