Mid Season Cherokee County Power Rankings

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We have reached the start of the 2nd half of the 2024 season and I have ranked the Cherokee County schools through Week 7. A lot of parity at the Top with a coin flip for the top 3 spots. Below are my rankings,1 thru 6, with players to watch from each team. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>#1 Sequoyah Chiefs</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Chiefs are 1-1 in Region play after being upset by Sprayberry but they do have big wins over Cherokee and Kell to sit at 4-1. He leads the team in TT , with 33, and TFL with an eye popping 10.5. On the offensive side of the ball he has scored 3 TDs on just 6 carries. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Solid built guy that puts in the work in weight room with a 295 PC max. Good vision that gets downhill fast and is a violent tackler. Good vision and patience at the line of scrimmage with the quickness to weave his way through traffic for positive yards. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Has good hands out of the backfield and leads the team in receptions with 17 out of the backfield with 3 receiving TDs. He is averaging over 6 yards per carry with 9 rushing TDs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rajecki has garnered a lot of P4 attention lately with gameday visits to Georgia State, Georgia Tech and UGA recently. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong># 2 Cherokee Warriors </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Warriors are off to an impressive 2-0 start in Region 5-6A. They are off to a 4-2 overall start with their only 2 losses coming to Lambert and Sequoyah with a win over River Ridge under their belt. He has completed 100 of 155 pass attempts with 1689 yards and 17 TDs to just 3 INTs. Savasir has added 300 yards on the ground and is averaging over 8.5 yards per carry with 4 rushing TDs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Good passer on the move and has the arm strength to put some zip on the short balls with ability to throw the ball deep down field. Powerful runner with the ball in his hands that has the leg strength to carry defenders on this back for additional yardage. Good blocker in the run game that likes to mix it up. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tash is averaging over 20 yards per catch in '24 with 447 total yards with 4 TDs. With his size, toughness, and pass catching ability he deserves more eval at the next level. He was on campus at Carson Newman recently and we believe as more schools take note of his production his recruiting will pick up. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#3 River Ridge Knights</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On paper the Knights could arguably be the #1 team on this list. They are 4-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 6-5A play. Their only loss on the season was to the above Cherokee Warriors (21-7). Shows quick feet with good escape ability in the pocket, real good passer on the run. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 3 year starter has thrown for over 1600 yards in each of his 1st two seasons at River Ridge. He was selected QB MVP earlier this Summer at the Reinhardt Camp and has the skill set to play at the next level. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#4 Woodstock Wolverines</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We give the Wolverines the nod here since their upset 28-21 win over Creekview on Saturday. The Wolverines have had one of the best turnaround seasons State wide starting out 5-1 after going 2-8 in 2023. Has very good vision and reads plays quickly. Gets downhill fast and is a solid tackler. Has the athleticism to drop back in pass coverage and speed to make plays sideline to sideline. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Great D3 or high academic school prospect. Carries a 4.0 GPA and a 33 ACT. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#5 Creekview Grizzlies</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 4-2 Grizzlies would have been a little higher on the list if not for their upset loss v Woodstock on Saturday. A workout warrior with a 300 PC max that has the strength to shed defenders and get to the point of contact in a hurry.
