The Lowcountry has no shortage of Week 4 highlights that should be leading some individual reels at the conclusion of the 2024 season.

We had quarterbacks with huge arms showing off their running ability. We had a tailback go ham over and over right on into the end zone. And we had some defensive guys make all sorts of noise.

Did we mention a there's a former 8-man football player showing he could be Johnny on the Spot at a Class 4A program?

Week 4 was a fun one to break down film.

[player_tooltip player_id='605521' first='Gray' last='Dangerfield'] K/P, James Island

Dangerfield isn't the best kicker in the state by accident. It's because he consistently does things like he did during Friday's 31-0 win over St. James. Dangerfield put all six of his kickoffs into the end zone. He also was four-of-four on PATs and hit a 43-yard field goal to give him 153 career points scored. And with him handling punts this year - something he admits isn't his strong suit - the 63-yard bomb he launched just felt like he was showing off.

[player_tooltip player_id='1012859' first='Karmello' last='Jones'] RB, Cross

Jones (pictured) put in this week's monster fantasy football performance when he scored six touchdowns in the 56-0 win over Military Magnet. While he hadn't reached the end zone on offense wince Week 0 (he did have a defensive touchdown and a special teams touchdown in Week 1), Jones broke out against Military Magnet. Six times. That pumped his total to 27 total touchdowns in his last 17 games.

[player_tooltip player_id='1394988' first='Aedan' last='McCarthy'] QB, Bluffton

We've known McCarthy could move around a good bit, but he showed us Friday in a 31-17 victory at home against Lucy Beckham how dangerous he can be with his legs. In addition to 146 passing yards and two touchdowns, the junior also had seven carries for 119 yards and another score. That latter total was boosted heavily by a 74-yard run. As you can see here, Bluffton's oft-used five-wide approach opens up his potential for taking advantage of plenty of space.

Zadien Holmes LB, and [player_tooltip player_id='1346277' first='Lorenzo' last='Kitching'] DB, North Charleston

In a dogfight of a game with Class 5A Stall, Holmes and Kitching both came up big on the defensive side of the ball. Holmes finished with nine tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack and a safety. Kitching's two interceptions were huge, and he added another seven tackles. It pushed the Cougars to 4-1, which is their best start since 2015, when North Charleston started 5-0 before losing its' final five games of the year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1639877' first='Everett' last='Scandlen'] DL, Beaufort

Scandlen entered Friday's game against Battery Creek with eight tackles to his 2024 ledger. In that win alone, he nearly doubled it. The junior defensive end had six tackles to go along with two tackles for loss, a sack and a pair of quarterback pressures. If you hadn't heard of Scandlen before, we get it. He transferred to Beaufort from nearby Holy Trinity Classical, which plays eight-man ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1603740' first='Thaddeus' last='Czarnecki'] [player_tooltip player_id='1578797' first='Tristen' last='Simmons'] and Caleb Spangler Hilton Head

The Seahawks' defense has been one of the biggest surprises out of the Lowcountry so far, and in holding Class 2A state title contender Hampton County to 14 points, they showed it again. Czarnecki had 12 tackles. Simmons finished with eight stop and a pass break-up. And Spangler (three tackles) forced a fumble, had two tackles for loss and a sack.

[player_tooltip player_id='502413' first='Tavien' last='Orellana'] QB, and [player_tooltip player_id='1271262' first='Alex' last='Tchoryk'] DL, Philip Simmons

After a stressful Week 3 that included a loss to Bishop England in a fanless stadium, Orellana and Tchoryk got the Iron Horses back in the win column against Whale Branch. The senior quarterback was 14-of-19 passing for 260 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for another two scores. Tchoryk, a sophomore defensive end, finished the night with 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack and a forced fumble.
