<p><strong>Kash Ewen, Hope Christian</strong>: Ewen, listed as a QB and DE on Hope Christian's 2024 roster, was spectacular in the Huskies season-opening win over Del Norte as he collected five sacks and scooped up a fumble and returned it for a touchdown. Great size at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613409' first='Mason' last='Fikany'], Ruidoso</strong>: Like the rest of his teammates, Fikany is dealing with the aftermath of the massive wildfires and flooding that devastated his hometown. But he's playing outstanding football early in the season, averaging 10.2 yards per rush (5 for 51 yards) and 13.0 yards per reception. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613703' first='Aiden' last='Gonzales'], Volcano Vista</strong>: Gonzales has earned the title ‘Best 2028 Prospect in New Mexico' with his solid play on the field. He started in the Hawks secondary as an 8<sup>th</sup>-grader last season (41 tackles, 1 INT, 3 Passes defended) and has continued to excel in 2024. In two games, he has a team-high 12 tackles (9 solo). </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613382' first='Gad' last='Harris'], Sandia</strong>: In addition to being one of the top young basketball players in the Albuquerque Metro Region, Harris has proven to be a very good football player as well. He has become the Matadors' ‘go to' RB with 19 carries for 140 yards and 1 TD in the first two games. He has also caught 7 passes (2<sup>nd</sup> most on the team) for 54 yards, giving him nearly 200 total yards in two weeks. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613370' first='Romeo' last='Jones'], Organ Mountain</strong>: He rushed for 66 yards on 10 carries in Organ Mountain's close loss to Eldorado in Week 1.</p>

<p><strong>D'Angelo Mitchell, Volcano Vista</strong>: In the Hawks' Week 2 come-from behind victory over Las Cruces, Mitchell ran six times for 41 yards and two touchdowns to spark the rally.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613476' first='Christian' last='Morales'], St. Pius X</strong>: The Sartans' offensive skill position groups are filled with talented young players and Morales has quickly fit in with 8 receptions in the first two games. He is averaging 10 yards on his two rushing attempts. Morales had 15 receptions and 1 TD as an 8<sup>th</sup>-grader in 2023. </p>

<p><strong>Ryden Nelson, Newcomb</strong>: Nelson is emerging as one of the top young defenders and special teams performers in the Four Corners. The Skyhawks are 2-0 with Nelson contributing 6 tackles, 2.0 TFL and 4 passes defended on defense and an 85-yard kickoff return for a TD. Nelson and fellow Newcomb freshman <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613769' first='Ezekiel' last='Bennet']</strong> (2 INT, 2 Passes defended) are the future of the Skyhawks secondary. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613448' first='Christian' last='Perez'], Legacy Academy</strong>: Perez has played a role in the Silverbacks encouraging 2-0 start by contributing in all three phases. He's carried the ball three times and caught 4 passes for 38 yards. Defensively, he's made 8 tackles with 1 pass defended. Finally, he's returned four kickoffs and four punts, including one for 33 yards.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613284' first='George' last='Smith'], Robertson</strong>: Smith has become Robertson's top running back after two weeks, totaling 174 yards and 4 TD on 16 carries. Only Cardinals QB Jesse James Gonzalez has more rushing yards than Smith. Smith had 132 yards and 2 TD against Socorro in Week 1. Smith also has 140 yards on 6 receptions. He has 314 yards on 22 touches, an average of 14.3 yards every time he has the ball in his hands. One interception on defense, too. </p>
