[player_tooltip player_id='1615329' first='Deacon' last='Caspers'] has been dominating to start the year, already having amassed over 800 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in 4 games. In week 4, despite losing against Mason City, Caspers had another brilliant game, rushing for 191 yards on 32 carries and 2 touchdowns. His spin move may be one of the most deadliest against defenders that I've seen on film, and on Friday night, he did a great job bouncing off of contact and churning for extra yardage. Caspers' name should surge greatly onto the RB rankings by the end of this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1238514' first='Kasen' last='Thomas'] is the #2 LB in Iowa for the class of 2026, but he has also made a particular impact to his team on the ground. In a shutout win on Friday against Sioux City West, Thomas ran for 126 yards on 15 carries and 3 touchdowns in the win. His speed and aggressiveness on the defense translates well in the backfield, and against Sioux City West, he was a slippery runner who was hard to get a wrap on. With 11 rushing touchdowns through 4 games, Thomas should remain to be a scoring machine for the Crusaders this season, and he's proving to suit well as a two-way threat.

A lot of praise for the Nevada Cubs on Friday night went to their QB [player_tooltip player_id='1406631' first='Connor' last='King'], but senior Anthony Eaton also deserves his praise for bringing his A-game on the ground. Eaton finished the night with 171 yards on 24 carries and a touchdown. Eaton was a reliable runner, not having any explosive runs or shifty agility, but he churned out solid gains every time that he touched the ball. Eaton is bound to finish his senior season with big numbers that should boost his stock at the end of his high-school football career.

Center Point-Urbana dominated the ground on Friday night, and leading the way in the group was senior Brecken Andersen. Against South Tama, Andersen finished with 135 yards on 19 carries and 2 touchdowns. Andersen had a strong night on the ground; his smaller size allowed him to run through tight gaps and break off big runs up the middle. After having limited success over the first 3 weeks, Andersen is looking to turn things around and continue garnering momentum heading into the second half of the season.

Clear Lake lost in a close shootout with Waverly-Shell Rock in week 4, but [player_tooltip player_id='1361107' first='Titan' last='Schmitt'] delivered with another strong performance in the backfield to start off his senior campaign. Schmitt finished with 122 yards on 20 carries, and he added 2 receptions for 93 yards, including a 67 yard touchdown reception. Schmitt has looked excellent as a multi-purpose threat on the offense, as a shifty runner, a dangerous pass-catcher out of the backfield, and as a solid contributor in run-blocking. Schmitt will look to end to finish his senior season with a second-straight 1000 yard rushing season, and with 587 rushing yards through 4 games, he should break that mark easily.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton has stunned Class 3A this season by claiming their first 4-0 start since 2017, and a big reason for that has been thanks to a very deep backfield that's dominated the ground game, including all-purpose threat Bo Koedam. Koedam has been an excellent Safety, but he ran all over Harlan Community's defense on Friday night, with a whopping 183 yards on just 13 carries and a touchdown. Koedam was effective on reverse plays, proving to be fast and explosive carrying outside of the box. Koedam has averaged a team high 9.5 yards per carry on 28 carries, and his usage could increase as the season goes on for how much he brings into every play.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton boasts 4 players right now with 200+ rushing yards, and leading the way is senior [player_tooltip player_id='1529022' first='Zayvion' last='Ellington']. Ellington made the most of his carries in week 4, finishing with 129 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown in the win. Ellington has a great lower base with solid balance, but he changes direction very quickly, and against Harlan, he juked and bounced around the defense effortlessly. Ellington has over 400 rushing yards on just 48 carries to start the season, and Ellington will be a prominent figure of the Warriors' deep backfield to look out for in 2024.

West Delaware amassed 324 rushing yards in a blowout win over Webster City on Friday night, and while QB Brent Yonkovic accounted for a large chunk of those yards, [player_tooltip player_id='1242282' first='Macoy' last='Roling'] was just as effective in maneuvering through the Lynx defense. Roling finished with 106 yards on 16 carries and 2 touchdowns while adding a 26 yard reception. Roling has great size with broad shoulders, but he also has solid agility to make quick cuts outside to get extra yardage. Roling enjoyed his best performance of the season, and if he continues to see more reps, he should serve as a perfect complement in the backfield to Yonkovic.
