Making a huge impression down the stretch was [player_tooltip player_id='219420' first='Clayton' last='Merrill'], a wide receiver at Brentwood High School. Merrill caught my attention with his outstanding breakaway speed, showcasing his ability to instantly break free from the defense and get wide open for the deep pass. I also liked Merrill's ability to lock in on third down, hauling in several impressive deep passes throughout the contest.

Making his presence known on the ground was [player_tooltip player_id='814799' first='Gavyn' last='Nelson'], a running back at Brentwood High School. Nelson impressed me with his unpredictability on the offensive end, proving he could both blast past the Bobcats' defense on the ground and haul in the touchdown pass. Another facet of Nelson's playstyle that caught my attention was his physicality and ability to absorb contact on his way into the endzone.

I was additionally impressed with [player_tooltip player_id='424660' first='Hank' last='DeGennaro'], an athlete at Brentwood High School. DeGennaro was unstoppable in the endzone, hauling in two touchdowns on the evening. On top of excellent execution off the snap, what made DeGennaro so explosive was his height and wingspan, proving he could elevate off the ground to haul in the touchdown pass.

Catching my attention in the second half was [player_tooltip player_id='402537' first='Elias' last='Childers'], a quarterback at Overton High School. Childers stood out with his unpredictability under center, proving he could connect with his receivers on the short pass and pick up yards on the ground himself. Childers made his presence known when he juked out the entire defense and took it to the house for the score in the third quarter.

Another offensive playmaker that stood out was JC White, a quarterback at Brentwood High School. White impressed me at the helm of the Bruins' offense with his ability to run the ball, punching through the defense in the third quarter to put another touchdown on the board. In addition to great size and execution off the snap, White impressed me with his ability to absorb defensive contact and shake defenders en route to the endzone.

Also making his presence known on the offensive end was Canon Kinder, a quarterback at Brentwood High School. Kinder caught my attention with his ability to do it all at the helm of the offense, showcasing pin-point accuracy in the air and the ability to juke out the defense on his feet. Kinder threw multiple impressive touchdown passes on the night, showing off his arm strength and ability to hit his receivers in stride from anywhere on the field.

Game Recap

Brentwood was unstoppable both offensively and defensively through four quarters as the Bruins' offense quickly found the endzone in opening minutes to go up 7-0 over the Bobcats. After several great stops from the Bruins' defense, Brentwood's offense was back in the redzone as [player_tooltip player_id='814799' first='Gavyn' last='Nelson'] hauled in an impressive touchdown pass from along the edge to put the Bruins up 14-0 on the Bobcats. Brentwood's offense was back within striking distance before long as freshman [player_tooltip player_id='424660' first='Hank' last='DeGennaro'] would haul in a clutch touchdown to put the Bruins ahead 21-0 with a few minutes remaining before the end of the first half. In the last few minutes of the second quarter, Overton's offense was unable to find the endzone as Brentwood's defense would pick off the offense and punch into the house for the pick-six. With just under a minute left in the first half, Brentwood's offense would continue to showcase their talent as Canon Kinder connected with DeGennaro for another outstanding touchdown pass. At the half, the Bruins led the Bobcats 35-0. The Bobcats' offense would find their way into the endzone in the second half as [player_tooltip player_id='402537' first='Elias' last='Childers'] showcased his quickness on the ground, blasting through Brentwood's defense to put six points on the scoreboard for Overton. The Bruins' offense closed things out in the fourth quarter as junior quarterback JC White marched his way into the endzone for the touchdown. Brentwood would go on to defeat Overton 42-6.
