PRZVA Team Preview: James Madison Warhawks

Since taking over in 2017 Warhawks Head Coach Justin Counts has seen his team reach the playoffs with two Region titles and two State title game appearances. While Madison has yet to claim the championship gold, you cant argue with the format that Coach Counts has brought consistent success to the Warhawks community. It appears that Madison is in a bit a rebuild this fall, with several key starters graduating from a year ago. Their leading rusher the past two seasons committed to the Chanticleers back in June, chosing them over 10 division 1 schools, he certainly had his suitors. Knicely is a game changing back who can also catch the ball very well out of the backfield. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I would look to see how Coach Counts using him in different aspects this fall, with defenses likely keying on him. Watching him play in person, you can see the command and poise Yates displays with the offense, he never gets rattled and remains even keeled. While he is also a big time baseball prospect for Madison, Yates would love nothing more than to go out a winner in his senior campaign. A force on the defensive line at different positions Green is a 6'3 and 240 lbs.. I see why Madison moves him around the line he has a relentless motor and always seems to be pressuring the quarterback. Running a 4.79 40 and amongst the district leaders in sacks, I can see why many FCS schools are sniffing around the talented lineman. Recently committing to the highly prestigious Claremont Mckenna College, Lewis will once again be clearing the running lanes for [player_tooltip player_id='1228836' first='Dominic' last='Knicely']. Love to watch him get to backers at the next level on his blocks, he moves really well for his size. Having little to no problem reaching linebackers and safeties, Rosenberg is one of the best centers in the state. Tallying 62 tackles in 8 games as a junior Maiden can play both corner and safety, earning honorable mention all district honors last fall.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While he seems destined to play lacrosse at the college level, I would not be so sure he cant play football the division 3 route also. Good size at 6'0 and 185 lbs. Backman hits you in the mouth and keeps going, very physical young man. He also is very good in coverage including having a pick 6 against powerhouse Stone Bridge last season. Top 20 athlete in Virginia Lewis is 6'2 and 185 lbs. really impressed how he runs his routes already. He could be the perfect compliment to Knicely and I would expect Yates to look his way early and often.
