The Nebraska 2026 rankings received a long-overdue update earlier this week as we extended our rankings and watchlist to 400 players from across the state.

As part of our coverage of the new rankings, I will break down each position with a deeper look at some players who raised their stock this offseason and a few names we think you should keep an eye on this season.

The next positional breakdown on deck is the receivers!

Seward's [player_tooltip player_id='1114623' first='Jack' last='Vyhnalek'] is a player who I think is a big junior season away from making major waves in his recruitment. Jack returns as the team's leading receiver from last season, where he hauled in 35 catches for 590 yards and three receiving touchdowns. When watching his tape, Jack stands out as a strong, reliable possession receiver who excels at making those tough contested catches in traffic. His size allows him to brush off attempts to jam him at the line of scrimmage, and he has the strength to "out physical" defenders at the catch point. Vyhnalek's strong hands at the catch point make him a lock to come down even when fighting through contact. Overlooked speed and burst off the line— can threaten defenses vertically. Will play both ways for the Bluejays with upside at linebacker as well, but with two more seasons, it's scary to think how good Jack will be as a receiver. Vyhnalek has already earned his first offer with an early bid from Peru State and has received attention from programs like North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Iowa State, UNK, and Wayne State.

Junior receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1114433' first='Maurice' last='Purify II'] is a player we have been hyping up to have a big season all offseason. Purify joins Westside from Lincoln North Star and steps into a wide receiver room that will be looking for its young players to step up this season. Maurice is a tall, lengthy, athletic outside receiver who can elevate over defenders to make high-point catches and can fight off press coverage. Very good route runner who can create separation against defenders and knows how to slip into empty pockets to get open. Runs a solid route tree. Strong hands and great concentration through the catch process. Stock is rising quickly for the new Westside wideout!

Central City's [player_tooltip player_id='1114855' first='Wyatt' last='Dent'] is a player who has greatly benefitted from an active spring/summer cycle. He was already on our radar, but after a stellar camp performance, it was clear Dent was due for a bump up in the rankings. Wyatt had a great junior season in which he hauled in 33 receptions for 796 yards and scored ten touchdowns. Wyatt proved to be one of the top deep ball threats last season with his ability to explode off the line, build speed to get behind defenses, and excellent ball-tracking. When watching his tape, I was also impressed with his ability to adjust his speed and body to ensure he's in a good position to snag the ball. Strong hands and great concentration.

Class A defenses better prepare for the Thunderbirds to unleash their speedster, junior [player_tooltip player_id='612402' first='Jermaine' last='Green']. Since entering the high school ranks, Jermaine has been among the fastest players in the state (10.8 100m & 22.04 200m) and will now be able to show off his blazing speed with a bigger role on the Thunderbirds offense. In a deep WR room, Green still managed to take advantage of his reps last season with 20 receptions for 225 yards and two receiving touchdowns. Green is a player who can stretch defenses vertically as a deep threat or can get the ball with space on screens, sweeps, etc., before torching them for long gains. Green is also a solid perimeter blocker who can clear outside defenders in the run game. Programs like Northern Iowa, Montana, North Dakota State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Mizzou have expressed interest. Very excited to see the different ways Bellevue West gets Jermaine the ball this season!

[player_tooltip player_id='1114627' first='Canon' last='Allen'], 5'9" 155 lbs - Aurora (Twitter)

Easily one of the best route runners in the state, regardless of class, Aurora junior [player_tooltip player_id='1114627' first='Canon' last='Allen'] is back to terrorize defenses. Despite breaking out for a monster 815 receiving yards and ten touchdowns last year, Canon is still surprisingly flying under the radar. As I mentioned, Canon has some of the best route running and footwork you'll see anywhere in the state. What makes Allen so tough to cover is how sharp he is through his change of direction and his ability to sink his hips before exploding out of his break. He is very shifty with his route-running and has shown that he can consistently create separation from defenders. His hands are automatic, and he will haul in anything thrown his way (this goes for when he's on defense) with the strength to hold on through contact or when making tough body adjustments. Canon is one of those players you can move around on offense and find creative ways to use his skills, as shown by his three rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns on the season. The Scheierman-to-Allen connection is going to be DEADLY this season!

[player_tooltip player_id='1115020' first='Ben' last='Trompke'], 6'2" 170 lbs - Loomis (Twitter)

[player_tooltip player_id='1115020' first='Ben' last='Trompke'] is a player the Wolves are excited about returning after a highly productive sophomore campaign. The junior WR/LB averaged a solid 17.24 yards per reception last season as he hauled in 25 catches for 431 yards and nine receiving touchdowns. Ben has a bigger frame (6'2", 170 lbs) and plays with the physicality that allows him to get a clean release off the line when facing press coverage and helps him win contested balls. One underrated aspect of Ben's game is his speed and how well he can use it to get behind defenses for big gains. He can track the ball well on deep passes and has the hops to go up and high-point the ball. You can also line Ben up at tight end, where he does a great job blocking in the run game. Under the radar 8-man player who should receive more looks with a big junior season.
