NY Recruiting Report Pt. XXV

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Check out last week's recruiting report <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/08/ny-recruiting-report-pt-xxiv/">HERE</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another week of primarily DIII offers to some NY prospects, while we did get a DIII commitment before the season starts this Thursday (excluding prep schools)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's a smaller report, but that doesn't come as a surprise as most teams are starting to gear up for the season and are waiting to get a lot of these prospects on gameday visits for either their first time on campus or to visit again and check out the team play. Sands was the runner-up for the Collata Award (Best Suffolk County LB) last season and was a crucial part in Sayville's defensive success, holding 7 of their 11 opponents to 14 points or less. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Sands is a little undersized for the LB position as a college prospect, but he ranked amongst the top DIII prospects in the state and has the body to add some weight and strength to his game through college. On tape, Sands plays with a relentless motor. You see it in his pursuit, physical hands at the point of attack, and willingness to play through the whistle consistently. Sands gets by blockers with his quickness, he shows good movement in short areas and has the burst in those short areas to close quick on the ball. Sands is also a consistent tackler on tape; he wraps up in space and shows discipline in his pursuit. The only knock tape-wise is that you don't see many coverage reps, but some reps and skillsets would translate to him being used as a QB Spy.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
