Familiar faces in new places to know | Offense

The countdown to the official kickoff of Louisiana's 2024 high school football season is down to less than 10 days.   And as Prep Redzone Louisiana continues its preview series leading up to the Week 1 action, there are several key, impact players and prospects in new uniforms all over the state this season for fans — and college coaches — to keep track of.   Some transfer movement began occurring even during last school year, but will see players officially take the field for their new teams next week. Other news is still trickling out this month as the new school year and season ramp up.   Enough players have moved that this list had to be split into <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/08/familiar-faces-in-new-places-to-know-defense-2024/">primarily defense </a>and primarily offense, although some guys will of course play both ways.   (If there are additional players who should be added, <a href="https://twitter.com/JeritRoser">contact @JeritRoser</a>)     [player_tooltip player_id='960002' first='Jordell' last='Baise'] — 6-3, 245 OL/DL — North Iberville (2026)   The talented two-way lineman, also a a track standout, announced this past week that he had transferred to North Iberville, which reopened in 2022 after more than 10 years.   Quincy Boone — 6-2, 160 WR — Parkway (2025)   The long, lean vertical threat will finish his high school career with the Panthers after transferring this offseason from Huntington.   [player_tooltip player_id='144904' first='Cortland' last='Brownfield'] — 5-11, 175 QB — Miami Edison (2025)   The now-former Woodlawn (Baton Rouge) quarterback moved to south Florida this summer where he will finished his high school career with the Red Raiders.   [player_tooltip player_id='283985' first='Montrell' last='Conner Jr.'] — 5-10, 150 ATH — Ouachita Parish (2026)   The athletic and versatile St. Frederick standout, one of Prep Redzone Louisiana's top-ranked 2026 prospects the past two years, transferred this summer to his father's alma mater where he appears poised to play quarterback in the state's highest classification and one of its top districts with powerhouse rivals Ruston, Neville and West Monroe joining the Lions as the northern contingent of District 2-5A.   [player_tooltip player_id='465348' first='Devyn' last='Downs'] — WR/DB — Bastrop (2027)   and [player_tooltip player_id='1221240' first='Dylan' last='Downs'] — QB — Bastrop (2025)   In one of the biggest transfer storyline of an active summer in that regard in northeast Louisiana, the Downs brothers transferred to their home-school zone where they hope to play major roles in not only what looks to be a potentially explosive Rams offense, but also a push to bring the former powerhouse program back to prominence. Dylan will have the opportunity to showcase his talent as a passer after leading a run-heavy Panthers offense last season, while the young two-way and two-sport Devyn will be one of the top targets in a promising receiving corps.   [player_tooltip player_id='401751' first='DeMarkus' last='Evans'] — 5-8, 150 ATH — Evangel Christian (2026)   The speedy, versatile former Parkway standout is among the many new faces on the Eagles' roster, a highly ranked 2026 prospect on the Prep Redzone Louisiana list already with a strong chemistry with his new quarterback (more below).   [player_tooltip player_id='1237761' first='Travis' last='Gallien'] — 6-3, 210 ATH — Lafayette Renaissance (2026)   The promising two-way and two-sport standout confirmed this week that he had started his junior year at Lafayette Renaissance after previously competing at nearby Teurlings Catholic. Gallien possesses a combination of solid build and smooth athleticism with which he excelled as versatile linebacker making big plays in pass rush and pass coverage alike and as a pass-catching hybrid TE/WR pass-catcher.   [player_tooltip player_id='710968' first='Nathan' last='Green'] — 6-0, 180 ATH — Evangel Christian (2026)   Another of Louisiana's most versatile 2026 prospects, the speedy Green transferred to Evangel during last school year from Booker T. Washington and is one of the top talents to watch for the resurgent Eagles program surrounded by anticipation as it returns to Class 5A. Green could excel — and even project at the next level — in a half-dozen roles, including almost anywhere on defense, and stood out this offseason in wide receiver reps on the college camp circuit.   [player_tooltip player_id='710075' first='Devin' last='Harper'] — 6-5, 295 OL — Calvary Baptist (2025)   Another notable Shreveport transfer during last school year, the LSU-committed offensive lineman will make his highly anticipated official debut next week for the defending Division-III Select champion Cavaliers. Calvary Baptist has a long-standing track record of producing college talent, including several other college-bound 2025 prospects. But Harper marks the most highly touted offensive line prospect to come through the program.   Jerome Harris — 5-8, 180 RB — Dunham (2026)   The quick, speedy running back scored two touchdowns in Caesars Superdome this past December to help Southern Lab win its Division-IV Select state championship and will join a Tigers backfield across town headlined by one of the nation's top young quarterback prospects in [player_tooltip player_id='642719' first='Elijah' last='Haven'] (2027).   [player_tooltip player_id='1250887' first='Peyton' last='Houston'] — 6-0, 185 QB — Evangel Christian (2027)   The highest-profile and potentially most impactful transfer from last year to this, "Pop" moved from Calvary Baptist last September to Evangel and will finally make his highly anticipated debut as a varsity starter for the Eagles program which, as mentioned above, enters the season with notable intrigue surrounding its influx of talent and return to Class 5A.   [player_tooltip player_id='401981' first='Sage' last='Ingram'] — 6-0, 190 RB — University Lab (2026)   The promising young running back transferred between top programs within District 6-3A from Madison Prep, which won the league as recently as 2022, to the perennial power Cubs, who won last season and reached the Division-III Select semifinals before falling by a field goal in an overtime heartbreaker.   Malachi Johnson — 5-5, 160 RB — Huntington (2025)   The productive running back for C.E. Byrd this past year with nearly 900 yards and 15 touchdowns on an average of nearly 10 yards per carry transferred this offseason to Huntington.   [player_tooltip player_id='915068' first='Andrew' last='King'] — 6-0, 160 WR/DB/ATH — West Monroe (2025)   A bit more under the radar on a statewide level than Harper, Houston, the Downs brothers or others, the move of the speedy and versatile King from Richwood could prove another highly notable transfer for the Rebels, one of the state's highest-profile programs working to build its way back to championship contention after first- and second-round losses in 2023 and 2022, respectively.   [player_tooltip player_id='710772' first='Antron' last='Mason II'] — 6-0, 165 WR — Bastrop (2025)   Another talented multisport standout on the move this summer, "Trae" joins the Downses in the potentially explosive Rams offense as one of the top weapons for Dylan on the outside.   [player_tooltip player_id='920701' first='Cameron' last='Munford'] — 6-0, 240 TE — Edna Karr (2026)   The big now-former Belle Chasse tight end was with the Cougars this offseason working during summer 7-on-7 opportunities on acclimating to team and its passing attack as Edna Karr prepares for another strong, title-hopeful season in 2024.   [player_tooltip player_id='912254' first='Carlos' last='O'Brien'] Jr. — 6-1, 175 WR — Comeaux (2025)   The talented receiver prospect has had an eventful summer on a variety of fronts as he worked back from an injury suffered in Lafayette Christian's state runner-up appearance this past December, transferred to Comeaux and worked to catch up to speed as a much more versatile piece of his new team's offense, including reps at quarterback.   Brennan Obey — 5-10, 175 RB — Fontainebleau (2025)   The two-way all-district standout as a junior for Archbishop Hannan, including a highly productive performance at running back, moves up to Class 5A competition for his senior season.   [player_tooltip player_id='426962' first='Nehemiah' last='Phillip'] — 6-1, 190 WR — Riverside Academy (2025)   "Nemo" moved last school year from St. Augustine in the city out to Riverside Academy in Reserve where he'll join a talented, but young receiving corps for the 2023 Division-IV Select runner-up Rebels and add a tall, athletic target to the mix.   Jakeem Reitzell — 5-8, 175 ATH — Wossman (2026)   As Neville moves from District 2-4A up to District 2-5A, the quick, versatile offensive weapon will remain in the league with his transfer to Wossman where the resurgent Wildcats from 2023 will replace a graduated senior running back.   [player_tooltip player_id='489183' first='Parker' last='Robinson'] — 6-2, 180 QB — Neville (2027)   The versatile young multisport athlete arrived from nearby St. Frederick this offseason along with his father, Andy Robinson, who joins the Tigers' staff as a co-offensive coordinator. Parker has battled senior Brock Jordan for starting reps this offseason and could have the chance to lead a talented offense on Forsythe Avenue this season as a sophomore.   [player_tooltip player_id='1757537' first='Jackson' last='Speer'] — 6-6, 300 OL — Evangel Christian (2026)   The big offensive lineman transferred to the Eagles from Minden and figures to be one of the most notable players to watch in the trenches protecting and paving the way for Houston and company.   [player_tooltip player_id='144900' first='Kaleb' last='Tucker'] — 6-2, 185 WR/ATH — Calvary Baptist (2025)   The tall, athletic and versatile Tucker returned to the Cavaliers and many of his former middle-school teammates before spending the past three years at Huntington. The Texas Southern commit has primarily stood out thus far in his high school career as a wide receiver, but is also expected to potentially play some defense this season.   Jarvis Walker — 5-10, 160 QB — St. Frederick (2027)   The Warriors lost their two talented young quarterbacks listed above, but have added another as Walker arrived from Ouachita.   [player_tooltip player_id='710974' first='Jarvis' last='Washington'] — 6-4, 180 WR — Dunham (2026)   Another notable loss for Madison Prep — on both the football field and basketball court — and another notable addition for the Tigers, the long, lean Washington provides an athletic target for the aforementioned Haven in the Dunham offense heading into his senior year.   [player_tooltip player_id='1336716' first='Daylen' last='Wilson'] — 5-10, 150 WR/ATH — Calvary Baptist (2025)   The talented pass-catcher and all-around athlete joined the Cavaliers this offseason when his family moved back home to Shreveport from Duncanville, Texas. Coming from out of state, Wilson hasn't garnered as much attention this offseason as some of the other players on this list, but he should have the opportunity to be a notable difference-maker on the once-again title-hopeful Calvary Baptist squad.
