Change is inevitable with each update, but this one in particular was a bit more unique. In addition to the routine changes made amongst current ranked players; nearly 100 prospects cracked the rankings this time around.

Many of the newcomers will be introduced throughout the week as our staff rolls out the coverage for the update. In this report though, we'll be breaking down some of the debuts that came from the Kansas City area and surrounding counties.

This first prospect was teased in the recent team preview for Basehor-Linwood, and now here's his introduction to the Prep Redzone Kansas community. [player_tooltip player_id='1394714' first='Caden' last='Gedney'] comes in with the highest debut from this group, as he checked in at No. 419 and is the 63rd ranked defensive linemen in the class. Gedney is an underrated defensive tackle that heads into the ‘24 season with lots of varsity experience. He'll be a key defender for the Bobcats in his third year starting.

[player_tooltip player_id='1398321' first='Layton' last='Lawson'] - De Soto, 6'3”, 180, DB

Following closely behind Gedney is another prospect from the United Kansas Conference. [player_tooltip player_id='1398321' first='Layton' last='Lawson'] of De Soto debuted as the 45th ranked defensive back in the class and the 422nd ranked player overall. Lawson is a DB that recruiters should take a liking to this season. He's a solid zone corner that uses his 6-foot-3 frame to his advantage by knocking away passes and contesting 50/50 balls. Lawson was also a member of De Soto's 5A State Champion 4x1 team this past spring.

[player_tooltip player_id='1398082' first='Simba' last='Mundava'] - Olathe West, 6'2”, 170, DB

Rounding off this trio is a prospect that has the most unique name in our rankings. [player_tooltip player_id='1398082' first='Simba' last='Mundava'] of Olathe West entered in behind Lawson at No. 423 and is the 46th ranked defensive back in the class. The 6-foot-2 corner played well during his junior year, as he secured 30 total tackles and led the Owls with two interceptions. Mundava is capable of guarding wideouts on the perimeter and he can line up at nickel to defend the slot. He's a prospect flying under the radar that could turn heads this season.
