Ross was a new addition to the 2027 rankings watchlist after a busy offseason that included picking up his first three D-I offers from San Diego St., Arizona St., and Colorado St. The Helix sophomore is a high-upside athlete at 6'3"/190 that should be on the radar as a breakout candidate this fall. Depending on how Helix decides to ulitize his talents, Ross could develop into a major playmaker at WR, TE, or DE this season. He possesses great length, is a fluid mover, and shows great body control in 1v1s. Ross should find himself in the official 2027 rankings with a strong sophomore campaign.

Cromartie established himself as one of San Diego's top 2027 WRs to watch with the raw talent and athleticism he showed this offseason. The son of former first-rounder and NFL All-Pro, Antonio Cromartie, Julian is a lengthy 6'3"/180 wideout with elite speed, ball skills, and body control at this early stage of his development. Superior physical traits should present matchup problems for perimeter CBs facing this skilled playmaker. Cromartie- who transferred over to Mater Dei Catholic ahead of his sophomore season- picked up offers from San Diego St. and UNLV this offseason.

Faalave-Johnson has continued to establish himself as one of the premier athletes in California's 2027 class, now sitting at #5 in Prep Redzone's overall rankings. The 6'/180 ATH (RB/DB) added nine D-I offers this offseason including Texas A&M, Oregon, and Utah. He's a dynamic athlete with elite upside in his speed, versatility, and playmaking ability on both sides of the ball. His explosive measurables have stood out to coaches on the offseason circuit and it translates to high-end production on the field (800+ all-purpose yards and 12 total TDs last season). Faalave-Johnson transferred to Cathedral Catholic ahead of his sophomore season.

Tavizon rose to #34-overall and the #5-DL in PRZ CA's latest update to the 2027 rankings after a busy offseason that included picking up his first eight D-I offers. He's a disruptive defender from his DE spot with major upside in his physical skillset and projectable frame at 6'3"/230. He possesses the strength to set the edge, shows good lateral range, and is extremely violent at the POA. Tavizon looks primed for a breakout sophomore campaign and should be a national recruit in the near future.

Thompson picked up his first offer from Toledo in June after producing a breakout freshman season with Escondido last fall (1,800 passing yards, 19 TDs). The 6'/180 pocket-passer showed promising arm talent and feel from the pocket last season. He operates with clean footwork, has a working internal clock, and looks comfortable avoiding pressure and going through his progressions. Thompson should continue to generate D-I interest as one of the top passers in San Diego's 2027 class.
