2024 Pre-Season Team Preview: Pingree School

<p>Pingree still has some gas left, and looks to bounce back after coming just short of a championship last season. The 2024 Pingree Team will be led by Head Coach Pat Downey. Coach Downey is incredibly excited to lead Pingree's Highlanders Football Program to continued success. He came to Pingree with an extensive football-playing and coaching background. Coach Downey is a Graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where he was a 4-year starter, Team Captain of the Wildcats, and two-time All-Conference, All-East, and All-New England athlete. Coach Downey went on to sign as an Undrafted Free Agent with the San Diego Chargers in the NFL and played 6 seasons in the Pro's spending time with the Washington Commanders, Atlanta Falcons and in Training Camp with the New England Patriots. Coach Downey also played professionally in NFL Europe for the Frankfurt Galaxy and in the Arena Football League for the Nashville Kats and the Colorado Crush. Coach Downey has coached at all three levels, including as an Assistant Coach at Swampscott High School, Malden Catholic, and at his Alma Mater, Bishop Fenwick, where he was recently inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. In addition to his high school coaching experience, Coach Downey also served as an Assistant Coach at Curry College for Head Coach Skip Bandini. Coach Downey has also coached at the professional level in the Arena Football League, serving as the Associate Head Coach of Jon Bon Jovi's Philadelphia Soul and with the Columbus Destroyers. Coach Downey and his Wife Andrea, and their three children, Jackson, Peyton, and Colton, reside in Marblehead, Massachusetts. He is an experienced Sales Director in the Medical Device Industry. <br></p>   <p>We got some information from Coach Downey about the 2024 Pingree Football team. "We will be a very young and new team this year. We have 7 sophomore starters and two junior starters on offense this season, and 4 sophomores on our offensive line. Our Starting QB, [player_tooltip player_id='1417917' first='Jack' last='Spear'], is a Re-Class Sophomore Transfer out of Swampscott High School and threw for almost 1,400 yards last season. We have moved returning All-NEPSAC Center [player_tooltip player_id='732816' first='Joey' last='Lussier'], 6'1” 235, to Fullback and TE. On Defense, our strength will be our Linebacking Corp led by Junior Swampscott HS Transfer Sam Brodsky and Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1420593' first='Brady' last='Daniels'], [player_tooltip player_id='732816' first='Joey' last='Lussier'] and Marco Mottola."</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1420554' first='Cole' last='Piaseczynski'] - Head Coach says he is a Senior Team Captain WR/RB and returning All-NEPSAC and All-Evergreen League player. A dynamic athlete who can play both Wide Receiver and Running Back for the Highlanders. An explosive and powerful athlete who is dangerous in space and will make the big plays. Tough, physical and tenacious Linebacker who plays with reckless abandon and like to plays downhill and stop the run. Also, good RB who is straight line runner and will help the Highlanders in the run game. He looks to make his presence felt this fall. He has speed, great field vision, and quick hips. He can cover to the boundary and will be an impact player this fall. His Head Coach says he is a big, long, physical, and athletic cover corner who plays into the boundary for us. Smooth, has good hips, and does a nice job of tracking the ball. He has a quick release and enough arm to drive the ball downfield. He is accurate with the ball and can make tough throws if needed. His head coach says he is an athletic dual-style quarterback who can throw deep balls and likes to attack defenses. Athletic and smart. Plays with great poise. Jon will be the leader of the Offensive Line and is a big, strong, and powerful player who is a mauler in the run game and can also move well in space and get out to the second level effectively. Long and has good feet in pass pro. A tough, physical mauler in the run game from Lawrence, Mass. Plays with an edge. On Defense, he plays the Nose and can get pushed up the middle.</p>   <p>2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1339343' first='Ryan' last='Castillo'] - OL 5'10” 255 lbs Offensive Guard/NT</p>   <p>2027 - [player_tooltip player_id='944006' first='Colt' last='Downey'] - Colt is 5'10” 178 lbs. Colt is a 2027 and will play a key part in Pingree's offense this year at WR. He is the younger brother of Jackson Downey, who was 2-Time All-NEPSAC and First Team All-Evergreen and was a key member of the Pingree NEPSAC Championship Team in 2022.</p>   <p>2025 - [player_tooltip player_id='732816' first='Joey' last='Lussier'] - Joey has a good first step and plays with a low pad level. He leads the way this fall.</p>   <p>2027 - [player_tooltip player_id='1420553' first='Jake' last='Medieros'] - 6'2” 275 lbs. OL/DL is a (Re-Class 2027) out of Andover High School. Medieros started every game for Andover HS. last season as a true Sophomore. A big, physical, and nasty player who will bring an edge to the Offensive Line. Very technically sound player who plays with good knee bend and low pad level. Currently being recruited by several Division 1 FCS schools including Merrimack. 3. [player_tooltip player_id='1420554' first='Cole' last='Piaseczynski'] - Senior Team Captain WR/RB and returning All-NEPSAC and All-Evergreen League player. A dynamic athlete who can play both Wide Receiver and Running Back. An explosive and powerful athlete who is dangerous in space and will make the big plays. Currently being recruited by Bentley, St. Anselm, Wesleyan, Middlebury, and Bates.</p>   <p>2027 - [player_tooltip player_id='1420576' first='Rex' last='Braillard'] - WR 6'3” 187 lbs Sophomore. (2027). Big, long athletic Wide Receiver who uses his size effectively and can go up and get it. Played some last season as a Freshman. He had a very good off-season getting bigger and stronger. Braillard will be big on the outside and in the Red Zone.</p>
