2024 Preview: Georgetown Bulldogs

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The answer was collective between the four Georgetown players when asked about their expectations for the upcoming 2024 season, and Bulldogs' linebacker Jamie Branton (pictured above) summed it up.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“Just win and keep getting better. And look forward to the future,” Branton said.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Bulldogs have not won a game since the 2020 season. They are hitting the reset button with new head coach Tommy Adams to work towards getting the program on stable footing. And Adams knows it won't be an overnight turnaround.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“We're just trying to lay the foundation right now. The program has been down for awhile and we're trying to build the foundation to have some consistency. That's the biggest thing, from top to bottom,” Adams said.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Bulldogs will return four starters on offense, which includes <strong>Tevies Burroughs</strong> on the offensive line. On the defensive side, the Bulldogs return six starters including <strong>Ja'Marion Dickerson</strong> at cornerback, <strong>J'Ari Ford</strong> will start at defensive end.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Georgetown opens the 2024 season on the road against Kingstree next Friday, August 23.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>STARS SET TO SHINE</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Zach Krause</strong> QB, 2025 – Krause will be a second year starter, but this will be his first year at quarterback. He played wide receiver last year and walked away with MVP honors for his play last year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Improvements heading into 2024: “Just getting my focus better. I feel like I wasn't as focused last year. Just dialing in and having a great season coming up.”</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Daneia Kelly</strong> LB, 2025 – Kelly will be the starting Sam linebacker, who battled shoulder issues during the 2023 season. He'll be back healthy and he'll also take snaps at left guard.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Jamie Branton</strong> LB, 2025 – Branton will be the starting mike linebacker and left tackle on offense. If there was a pick to be the captain, Adams says he would be the guy.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Improvements heading into 2024: “Paying more attention to details, strength and (being) faster.”</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Tyrez Greene</strong> LB, 2025 – Adams is expecting a lot out of the senior linebacker. He's physical and knowledgeable and is the quarterback of the defense.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>FILM REVIEW</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1734397' first='Trenton' last='Parker'] </strong>RB, 2026 – Parker played wide receiver in 2023, but will be shifting his role to the backfield in 2024. He can come up against the run and make solid tackles as he takes great angles to the ball and understands what the offense is trying to do.
