2024 Preview: Chesterfield Rams

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Chesterfield is ready to hit the reset button after finishing 2-8 in 2023.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Matt Quinn takes over as the new head coach of the Golden Rams after stops at Westwood and North Augusta, and there is a renewed sense of energy heading into 2024.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“The kids and the community have been awesome. They've accepted me and the kids have bought into what we want to do as a program,” Quinn said.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The transition has gone well, according to quarterback <strong>Bryce Adams</strong>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“Whenever it was first announced, I was expecting it to be a little rough patch in the very beginning (with) the new coaches and everything but that didn't happen. The process was really easy for us (that) we transitioned with. They're great. We love them – we're happy to be with him,” Adams said.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A few returners for the Golden Rams include <strong>Sincere Hubbard </strong>at linebacker, who Quinn says is a smart player who will come and fill the A gap up, along with <strong>Terrell Robinson </strong>at wide receiver.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Adams has been pleased with what he's seen from the team so far, and now it's a matter of seeing it translate to the field.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“We've been working harder than ever. We have a new coaching staff. We're really excited about it. I feel like we're going to have a great season this year,” Adams said.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Golden Rams open the 2024 season at home against Lake View on August 23.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>STARS SET TO SHINE</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>JaQuavis Clark</strong>, WR 2025 – Clark (pictured above) returns for his senior season and will be one of the leaders in a new offense. The Rams will benefit from his playmaking ability in that he is able to go up and make the contested catches. He can also make plays on reverses. He has an offer from St. Andrews University. Quinn said he is one of the most explosive receivers he's been around. He'll play defensive back as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Improvements heading into 2024: “Running all the routes hard throughout the whole four quarters.”</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Tage Diggs</strong> OL 2025 – Diggs will be the leader of the offensive line at center in that he is the only returning starter. He has made great progress in his game at camps this summer as he currently has offers from St. Andrews, UNC Pembroke and Birmingham Prep (AL). Quinn added that he's probably better on the defensive line.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Improvements heading into 2024: “I need to work on my footwork a lot more, but these camps have been getting me right and my footwork is better.”</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Bryce Adams,</strong> QB 2026 – Adams will be a junior signal caller in 2024 and he'll be looking to take the next step in a new offense. He can make solid throws and knows how to find the open receiver.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Improvements heading into 2024: “I've been working on my confidence recently. Just trusting my guys, knowing that they're going to do the right thing and trusting that I'm going to do my job.”</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>FILM REVIEW</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1639753' first='Aiden' last='Short'] </strong>WR/DB – Short will play slot receiver and defensive back. From what we saw on film, he can line up at running back and make a difference.
