2024 Pre-Season Team Preview: Xaverian Brothers High School

School Preview: Xaverian Brothers is coming off a Division 1 State Championship season. Xaverian competes in the Catholic Conference, one of the most competitive conferences in Massachusetts. Xaverian is one of the most historically strong football programs in the Commonwealth, claiming 11 state championships and 29 league championships. I expect Xaverian, once again, to have a successful 2024 Fall campaign.   Head Coach: Al Fornaro   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Class of 2025 Notable Players</h2>    I first got my eyes on Micah at the 2024 PRZ New England Showcase. From the get go it was obvious that Micah was a special talent. His combination of size and athleticism are Power 4 caliber. Micah is explosive off the LOS and shows a powerful lower body. I expect the Boston College commit to be a very special player on the Xaverian defense this season.      William is a hybrid TE/FB prospect. William shows successful run-blocking and pass-catching ability when playing on the LOS. Benting has excellent strength and plays with a good pad level at the point of attack when blocking. Once engaged with the defender, Benting wins. His toughness and physicality are two of the qualities that stick out to me the most when watching William play football.      Vincent is listed as an Athlete and hybrid LB/Safety. His speed and athleticism allow him to line up and play multiple positions. He shows a high football IQ and good instincts on the defensive side of the ball. Vincent is a strong tackler and plays with high-level game speed. He played a ton of snaps on the defending Division 1 State Champion football team.     <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Class of 2026 Notable Players</h2>    Dominic is a huge addition to the Xaverian defense for the upcoming season. Dominic is a edge player that has all the tools to be elite. Funke rushes the passer as good any one in the Class of 2026. He has an impressive long arm and first step acceleration that gets him into the backfield. His athleticism off the edge allows him to play the run and move laterally. Dominic is a power 4 prospect.      David is a high-energy safety who plays the game with relentless effort.  Chiavegato also earned snaps on the offensive side of the ball at WR. He looks to have good feet and positions himself well in coverage. Possesses good hip mobility and instincts when playing the ball in man coverage.  I am impressed with his ball skills and natural movement capabilities in space. David is a reliable tackler and is a prospect I expect to continue to rise in his positional rankings because of his ceiling potential.      Marty is a stock riser in the PRZ New England rankings for good reason. He has impressed our staff in the off-season at different events. Marty is consistently a stand-out worker in the drills he participates in. He has the size and measurables of a Division 1 prospect. He shows a high level of athleticism and does an excellent job of keeping a strong base of support when blocking. I expect Marty to be a huge part of the Xaverian OL in the Fall.      Gino is a stout interior lineman. Gino shows strength and power when coming off the LOS. He does a good job of staying engaged with the defender and plays with good leverage. Gino is athletic enough to pull and get to the second level. He has an above-average skill set as an OL. Gino is also a heavyweight wrestler.      Christian was a 3 way player on the Division 1 Championship team. He plays CB, WR, and on special teams. At CB, he shows the ability to play man and zone coverage into the boundary and to the field. Christian does a good job of tracking the ball in the air. On offense, he plays outside WR. Christian shows off his top end speed by creating explosive plays after the catch. He has reliable hands and can win down the field. Christian will be a high rep player this Fall.     <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Class of 2027 Notable Players</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='408630' first='William' last='Wood'] is a rising star in the QB class of 2027. Throughout the offseason, he has put in a ton of work and attended many events throughout New England. Will has an elite combination of arm strength and quick release. I was very impressed with how polished his throwing technique and footwork is for a class of 2027. Will's toolbox is not filled with just his arm talent but also his speed and mobility. He can add a dimension to his game with his legs when needed.
