2024 Pre-Season Team Preview: St. John's Prep

<p><strong>School Preview:</strong> St. John's Prep is coming off another strong season, compiling an 11-2 record. Led by head coach Brian St. Pierre, the Eagles have a strong tradition of winning. St. John's is only 2 years removed from winning a state championship and should once again be legitimate contenders in the Fall of 2024.</p>   <p><strong>Head Coach:</strong> Brian St. Pierre</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Class of 2025 Notable Players</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Merrick is a 3 star prospect who has committed to Navy. Voted a team captain for the upcoming 2024 Fall season. Merrick plays TE is a mismatch against opposing DB's. He is 6'5 and with a 35” vertical jump. Runs smooth, clean routes, and shows good speed with the ball in his possession. Natural hands catcher of the football. Impressive ability to track the ball and win the contested balls. In addition to his athletic qualities, Barlow is a high academic prospect. Merrick should be a huge weapon for the Eagles this year.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Edwin is ranked as an athlete for PRZ because of the versatility he offers. Edwin can play both ways at WR and DB. He shows good movement ability at DB with smooth hips and quickness out of his breaks. Edwin keeps his body in balance and control which allows him to break on balls and get into position when in coverage. Edwin is an important part of the SJP defense.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Graham is a returning Boston Herald All-Scholastic for SJP. He was selected as a team captain for the upcoming Fall 2024 season. Graham is a dominating OL that is a high-level run and pass blocker. He has a violent punch and fast hands that control the defender. Graham plays with great leverage and a strong base of support. He shows athleticism when getting to the second level. Graham will be leading the way up front for the Eagles.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Quigley is listed as an athlete. Offensively, he lines up in the backfield at RB. Jeffrey is a dynamic player who can break open a big play anytime he touches the ball. He shows good vision through the LOS. He will be a player that will get many touches for the Eagles offenses this season.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Gael is arguably one of the top FB in Massachusetts. He is named on the Boston Herald EMASS preseason All-Star team. Garcia is a football player who plays with toughness and physicality. He imposes his will on defenders in the run game. Gael also can come out of the backfield to be a player in the pass game or win in the red zone in the run game.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Deacon is returning as the starting QB and voted as a team captain for the Fall 2024 season. He is coming off a strong junior season leading his team to an 11-2 record. Deacon is an accurate passer of the football. He makes good decisions reflected by his strong TD/INT ratio. Deacon has a lot of experience under his belt already which should lead him to have a strong senior season for the Eagles.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Tucker is a tackling machine at linebacker. He plays the game fast and will pull the trigger to make the play. I like his football instincts. He does a good job of reading the offensive line which allows him to play with gap integrity and to position himself well. He may be a bit undersized but he makes up for size with his toughness and physicality. Jackson is a captain and leader on the defensive end for a top Massachusetts high football team in the Fall of 2024.</p>     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Class of 2026 Notable Players</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Radke has high-level acceleration and top-end speed that translates nicely into game speed. Aaron was voted as part of the team leadership group by his teammates. He has strong pursuit angles and is a reliable tackler of the football. Aaron shows efficient deceleration and acceleration coming out of breaks. He also has above-average length at the safety position, which matches him up well in pass coverage. Aaron has all the skills necessary to have a breakout season.</p>     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Class of 2027 Notable Players</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">The first thing you notice when watching Dayvian is his speed. Dayvian has smooth and efficient movement abilities. At WR, he creates separation and can beat you vertically. He has good size and will benefit by adding some weight to his frame. He has reliable hands and can make the contested catch, Dayvian will surely be a top WR in the Class of 2027.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Class of 2028 Notable Players</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Christopher is a special talent at the QB position. He already has verbal offers from Power 4 programs like Penn State and Syracuse. Vargas has shown his arm talent at many national events throughout the off-season. His ability to anchor, throw the ball into tight windows with velocity is elite.
