The Prep RedZone South Carolina staff looked at the nearly 10,000 varsity players in the state and picked out our top 75. These are the guys we think will make huge impacts this season and help their respective teams in many different ways.

Here's a look at the running backs, offensive linemen, and athletes selected, and why we're expecting big things from them this season.

RUNNING BACK

[player_tooltip player_id='272702' first='Jevon' last='Edwards'] South Aiken

Edwards (pictured) has been incredibly prolific in his career at South Aiken, setting school records for yards and touchdowns in three seasons. Last year, he surpassed 440 yards in a game and scored six TDs in a win over rival Aiken. With standout dual threat QB Terrance Smith gone, Edwards could be counted on to do even more out of the backfield. And if that's not enough, he's also a fantastic receiver.

[player_tooltip player_id='346196' first='Jamarion' last='Fling'] Dillon

Fling is the latest in a tradition of monster RBs for Dillon. He rushed for nearly 1,600 yards and scored 34 TDs a year ago, and did most of it with a bruising, physical style of play. Fling seems to enjoy contact, usually seeking it out, and he runs over and through defenders regularly.

[player_tooltip player_id='605525' first='Marquise' last='Henderson'] Belton-Honea Path

Henderson is our No. 1 recruit in the 2025 Class, and it's easy to see why. He's the cornerstone of the Bears offense, rushing for more than 2,300 yards and 37 TDs last season. Henderson has a dynamic burst, great vision, and runs really well after contact, to the point that it's usually pretty useless to do anything but attempt to gang-tackle him. Expectations for the Bears are sky-high after a great season and with a number of returners, and Henderson is a big part of the reason why.

[player_tooltip player_id='473001' first='Jaylen' last='McGill'] Mountain View Prep

The transfer from Broome made MVP really good, really fast. McGill is a guy who's on everyone's radar, and is our top-ranked player in the 2026 Class. He's a fast, physical back who topped 1,600 yards in the same backfield with a QB who had 1,000. At MVP, he'll be in line for the bulk of the carries. McGill runs angry, gives you virtually nothing to tackle, and has plenty of top-end speed.

[player_tooltip player_id='473027' first='Meliq' last='McGowan'] Goose Creek

The Region VI-5A Player of the Year as a sophomore, McGowan had nearly 2,000 yards and 16 TDs. He's got a quick burst, only needs a silver of daylight to turn a short gain into a touchdown, and always seems to just keep his legs churning, chewing up yardage and making him extremely tough to tackle.

[player_tooltip player_id='1157743' first='Kedarrion' last='Patterson'] TL Hanna

By its nature, Hanna's rushing attack doesn't lend itself to creating superstars, as the hot hand in any particular game tends to get a bunch of carries. Not so for Patterson. He was able to separate himself from the pack thanks to a ton of speed and elusiveness, paired with the ability to just run through guys. There might not be a RB in the state in a better situation than Patterson, as he should continue to thrive in Hanna's wing-based attack.

[player_tooltip player_id='1012627' first='Landon' last='Stone'] Clover

Stone is a big, physical back with breakaway speed who produced 2,400 yards and 24 TDs last year despite not playing deep into many fourth quarters. With the Blue Eagles depending on a new QB and new WRs, he'll be counted on to contribute heavily. Stone is a tough, hard-nosed runner with a nose for the end zone, particularly as a red zone threat. And he's as good in space as he is between the tackles.

OFFENSIVE LINE

[player_tooltip player_id='1165753' first='Tre' last='Aiken'] Clinton

Aiken is an enormous individual at 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds, but he's lean and his frame looks to be able to handle a bunch more good weight, so his upside is off the charts. He had a phenomenal offseason, starting at the Joanne Langfit Challenge. Aiken is a guy who excels in Clinton's spread-option scheme, blocking downfield and often neutralizing multiple defenders on the same play.

[player_tooltip player_id='272706' first='Garris' last='Chambers'] Silver Bluff

Chambers won't overwhelm anybody with his size, but he's the closest thing to a position-less offensive lineman on this list. He can play center, guard, or tackle, and can do it all very well. Chambers is a veteran player who plays with a nasty streak and who specializes in knockdown blocks, generally taking defenders entirely out of plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='346200' first='Rocky' last='Herd'] Daniel

Herd is the latest in a (long) line of top-tier OL from Daniel, and he looks right at home shouldering the weight of all those expectations. What you notice first about Herd is his power. He just tends to blow opponents off the ball, and finishes blocks with the best of them. If you need to find Herd on the field, it generally helps to find the defensive lineman who's on his back.

[player_tooltip player_id='1157815' first='Kevin' last='Peay'] Lancaster

How did the Bruins go on the road and beat two top seeds late last season? Well, a lot of it was by running the ball right behind Peay. He's a good all-around OL, but his long arms and knack for using leverage help make him a run-block specialist. He's got good feet, too, and is great when he can get out and pull.

[player_tooltip player_id='473011' first='Desmond' last='Green'] Timberland

Green can move. Not "move for his size", but move, move. He's got phenomenal technique, unbelievable feet, long arms, and plenty of strength. He's so good that the blind side of Timberland's QB often looks like the safest spot on the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='402516' first='Zyon' last='Guiles'] Carvers Bay

Guiles is a guy who's going to draw a ton of attention based not only ability, but potential. He's just headed into his junior season, so he'll get much bigger and stronger, but his film is already a long string of him finishing guys off way downfield or a yard into the sideline. He's absolutely got a chance to be special.

[player_tooltip player_id='797158' first='Shedrick' last='Sarratt'] Gaffney

In a loaded senior session at the Spartanburg site of the Carolina Coaches Classic, Sarratt was the standout, winning MVP honors. At 6-foot-5 and 290 pounds, he's still developing as a lineman and shows every indication of getting even better as a senior. He's got all the physical tools, and improved tremendously during the off-season.

[player_tooltip player_id='762756' first='Kendall' last='Walton'] Lamar

At 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, Walton definitely has the size to excel. He's also fast, and those quick-twitch abilities make it possible for him to blow opponents off the ball. He's a pancake machine, and his time across the ball on the defensive line seems to have given him a physical edge that suits him well.

ATHLETE

[player_tooltip player_id='1157754' first='JJ' last='Fludd'] Porter-Gaud (RB/DB)

Fludd ran for nearly 2,300 yards and 37 TDs in 2023, and true to his place on a small private school roster, he brings just as much talent to his spot at DB. He's good between the tackles, he's good running wide, and he's a one-cut-and-go kind of guy in space.

[player_tooltip player_id='378969' first='Jaiden' last='Kelly-Murray'] Summerville (DB/WR/RB)

One of the state's best freshmen, Kelly-Murray is ranked No. 1 in our 2027 class. He made a name for himself with 110 tackles and four interceptions as a freshman, and while he'll be a lynchpin of the Green Wave's defense, he'll also likely stand out as their top WR target this season. He's also capable of notching some time in the backfield.

[player_tooltip player_id='605527' first='Jaquel' last='Holman'] Blackville Hilda (RB/LB)

Holman is a complete player on both sides of the ball. He exploded with more than 1,600 yards and 26 TD's last season, averaging more than 10 yards per carry. On defense, he had 76 tackles, nine tackles for loss, a sack, and an interception. Holman's both a guy who has to be accounted for and a guy who it's almost impossible to account for. His speed and power on offense and his love of sticking his helmet in and rattling your pads on defense make him a matchup nightmare.

[player_tooltip player_id='473021' first='Caden' last='Ramsey'] Cross (DB/WR)

If you're a Trojans opponent and you're analyzing Ramsey, it's not so much THAT he's going to hurt you, it's HOW he's going to hurt you. And how you might hope to stop him. And honestly, there aren't a lot of great answers to those questions. Speed, length, athleticism...Ramsey's got plenty of all of that. He's a big-play receiver, an absolute ball-hawk at safety, and a guy who's capable of playing every down somewhere on the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='272705' first='Armoni' last='Weaver'] Westside (WR/DB)

Weaver transfers over from Byrnes, where he was one of the Rebels top receivers - and one of the Rebels' top defensive backs. He's the kind of guy who makes even big-school coaches approach him with a small-school mentality. He's so good that you've just got to get him on the field, wherever and whenever. He's got fantastic speed, great hands, can find the ball, and is an absolute killer in the return game. Weaver showcases a little bit of everything.

Webb put up insane numbers last season, grabbing 80 catches for more than 1,100 yards and 15 TDs. He's a great route-runner with plenty of speed who can go and get it, skills which undoubtedly help him on the other side of the ball. There, he picked off three balls and knocked down six others, adding 16 tackles for the Bulldogs.
