10 Senior QBs Off to Hot Start in 2024

College programs across all levels should pitch a tent in Georgia and just wait for a talented QB to fall in their lap. This 2025 class in Georgia is the deepest I have seen. There are dozens of QBs that have generated some D1 buzz, so naturally, some have fallen under the radar. Here are 10 senior QBs off to a hot start in 2024.    As is typical with [player_tooltip player_id='411240' first='Austin' last='Guest'], he has led Creekview's rushing attack in the early part of the season. The Grizzlies are 2-0 with wins against Calhoun and North Forsyth. Guest is plenty capable as a passer, but his legs are where he continues to differentiate himself. He is one of the most explosive athletes in the state, and pairs that with breakaway speed, making him a TD threat when he pulls to run. Guest has some small-school offers and is on D1 radars. I believe he can stick at QB, but I wouldn't be shocked to see some D1 programs intrigued by his promise as an ATH.     Through two weeks, [player_tooltip player_id='1566583' first='Ben' last='Brown'] is the state leader in passing yards with 639 yards. He has added 9 TDs and 1 INT on top of those yards. Here is my write-up following his productive week 1:   "Brown was one of the most productive passers in the state last year, and he is off to an awesome start to his senior year, passing for 385 yards and adding 6 TDs against Commerce. Brown is athletic enough to make subtle movements in the pocket to evade pressure, but he is vastly a pocket passer. He doesn't put overwhelming velocity on the ball and has a longer developing delivery, but his ball placement was put fully on display against Commerce. dropping the ball on a dime over safeties and mixing up touch and trajectories to float the ball into hard-to-reach areas. Brown plays with tremendous touch and anticipation. I expect him to be one of the most productive passers in the state yet again this fall."     Since popping on my radar this summer, Brock Szakacs has quickly become one of my favorite GA QBs in the 2025 class. He has been surgical through three games, completing passes at a high clip while accumulating 700+ yards through the air. There is plenty to like about his traits. He is mobile enough to extend plays and has enough zip on the ball to attack between the hashes and in the flats. He can mix up touch and plays with good timing. What really impresses me is his pocket presence. He is calm in the face of pressure and makes subtle moves to evade pressure and climb the pocket. I have a D1 grade on Szakacs, making him a potential steal.     [player_tooltip player_id='1571795' first='Julian' last='Shanks'] is a new name to me, but he has been really good to start the season and deserves some recognition. He is an excellent athlete, doubling as a basketball player. He has flashed his athleticism on tape, side-stepping across the face of defenders in space and showcasing enough burst to take advantage of openings. He has a longer developing delivery, but he is not lacking in the arm strength department. The ball comes out hot and with some spin. He can also dial it back a little and deliver the ball with some touch underneath when needed. Shanks has plenty of desirable physical traits and should have some college attention.     [player_tooltip player_id='1555652' first='Ethan' last='Long'] is an experienced QB who looks to be tying everything together during his senior season. He is among the state leaders in passing yards and will stay toward the top of the list at this rate. Long is on the smaller side at 5'11 170, but possesses adequate arm strength for his size. His legs open up plenty of opportunities in the ground game and also allow him to escape pressure and keep plays alive. Whatever he lacks in terms of top-end arm strength or athleticism, he makes up for with his instincts. His ball placement has been impressive to start the year, throwing with good touch and timing and allowing only his receivers to make a play on the ball.     [player_tooltip player_id='1566602' first='Tripp' last='Underwood'] is another experienced QB starting to tie everything together. He showed some flashes during his junior year, but he has already looked way more efficient to start his senior season. Underwood is a big-bodied, durable QB at 6'2 215. He can bomb the ball behind safeties, but he has excelled attacking underneath thus far. By the looks of it, he is attacking each segment of the field while handling RPO-type plays, and is doing it efficiently while completing 70% of his passes. He has shown some toughness as well, hanging back in the pocket an extra second and taking on contact to allow his receiver to get last-second separation. Thus far, Underwood is proving what he is capable of.     Weston Taylor is a senior sleeper saving his best season for his last. He comes in at 6'3 170 with some juice in his arm, and more velocity can be added with more physical growth. He cuts through the ball and frequently attacks the middle of the field. He can hang on his back foot or get on the move and it doesn't matter, he can still sling the ball. He is an underrated athlete and has shown solid escapability to start the year. Weston Taylor already has access to every throw on the field and he is a good athlete. Not to mention, there is some real D1 upside here. Taylor will be battle-tested against good competition coming out of his senior year.     Camden Hodge is a notable baseball prospect as a catcher, but he isn't shabby on the gridiron and has actually played solid to start the season. Hodge is a built, explosive athlete. When given a crease to run, he can quickly drive-through lanes and threaten defenses as a runner. He isn't easy to bring down once he gets going. Hodge spins the ball well and has solid mechanics, his footwork is clean and there is little to no wasted movement in his delivery. Hodge is a dangerous runner and can attack several spots on the field. Even if his future is in baseball, his playmaking ability at QB shouldn't be overlooked.     Thomas Stallworth is entering his second year as the starter for Hebron Christian. So far, he is off to a hot start and looks far more efficient as a passer. He is listed at a long, thin 5'11 185. He has some natural arm talent, which we often see from players with a baseball background. He cuts through the ball and can mix up trajectories. He can also make subtle arm angle tweaks to bend the ball around safeties. He gets the ball out quickly and plays on time. He frequently attacks the flats and the numbers in timing concepts, but he has some moxy as the play breaks down, scrambling with his eyes glued downfield. Stallworth looks like he's taken a big jump from his junior season.     Forrest Ross is off to a hot start to his senior season. Ross is a big-bodied QB with a game centered around being a physical runner. He is explosive enough to take the yards available and isn't afraid to throw a stiff arm or drop his shoulder at the end of runs to find extra yards. He has adequate arm strength, cutting through the ball and showing the ability to mix some trajectories. Ross doesn't have much buzz, but he is getting it done on Friday nights with his arm and his legs.
