WEST COLUMBIA | For Bamberg-Ehrhardt quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='464885' first='Chanston' last='Crosby'], Saturday's Shrine Bowl Combine at Airport High School offered an opportunity to “check off” a goal on his senior list of accomplishments.

He was among the 135 invited players who spent 2 ½ hours in the early sun putting on their best efforts before the coaches of two All-Star games. They hoped to be among the 44 players selected for the Shrine Bowl Game Dec. 21 at Wofford College.

Manning head coach Reggie Kennedy will lead the Sandlappers.

Another group of players hoped to catch the eye of coaches involved with the Dec. 14 Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl in Myrtle Beach. Several coaches from both the North and South teams were in attendance to both observe and run the individual and 7-on-7 drills.

Crosby, who also worked out with special teams as a kick holder and long snapper Saturday, was in the South (White) quarterback group that included [player_tooltip player_id='367350' first='Jaden' last='Cummings'] of Summerville, Jarae Mitchell of Manning, and [player_tooltip player_id='346199' first='Landon' last='Sharpe'] of White Knoll.

Wearing a baseball cap instead of a helmet, Sharpe was on target with most of his pass attempts. He threw a well-timed bomb to North Augusta's [player_tooltip player_id='1013040' first='Connor' last='Brown'] that he snagged just in front of a swiping defensive back for a touchdown.

Manning's Mitchell also showed a good touch on short passes during the 7-on-7 drills.

The North (Blue) quarterback group in attendance also had its share of All-State selections. Like Crosby, Irmo's Aaron Brand also hopes to conclude his career with an All-Star appearance.

“I think I did good,” he said. “There were a couple of reads I could have made, but overall, I think I had a good day. I think I competed, so hopefully, I can get a spot in one of these games.”

Other North quarterbacks in attendance included [player_tooltip player_id='272698' first='Will' last='Wilson'] of Richland Northeast, Finely Polk of Northwestern, Lincoln Husky of Boiling Springs, and [player_tooltip player_id='457973' first='Trooper' last='Floyd'] of Chester.

While All-State and Clemson commit [player_tooltip player_id='809742' first='Amare' last='Adams'] of South Florence was not in attendance, there was no shortage of size and talent among the linemen. [player_tooltip player_id='1253897' first='Christian' last='Huynh'] (pronounced Win) of Carolina Forest, [player_tooltip player_id='790770' first='Christian' last='Smith'] of Lugoff-Elgin, [player_tooltip player_id='1157815' first='Kevin' last='Peay'] of Lancaster, and [player_tooltip player_id='1054250' first='Victor' last='Goree'] of South Pointe all stood 6-foot-2 and above and caught the approving eyes of the coaches.

“It was very important to step up my game,” Goree said. “Just show what I can do and what my coaches taught me.”

Those defensive linemen who stood out during the individual drills were [player_tooltip player_id='272709' first='Malachi' last='Jefferson'] of James Island, [player_tooltip player_id='1157942' first='Cleve' last='Tellery'] of Ridge View (pictured right), [player_tooltip player_id='1012579' first='Sterling' last='Sanders'] of Blythewood, and Malcolm Salters of Kingstree.
