Spring Hill, Eudora, and Washburn Rural participated in the event supervised by Emporia State University staff coaches.

Here is a look at four skill players who impressed me during the event.

[player_tooltip player_id='1115511' first='Beau' last='Gardner'], LB, 6'3”, 285, Spring Hill, ‘25

Gardner was an impressive linebacker who caught my eye. He is a tall middle linebacker who can easily see into the backfield. He has nice closing speed and flowed well to the football. He was a tackling machine for Eudora last season recording 103 total tackles in 10 games as a junior.

[player_tooltip player_id='585907' first='John' last='Hoytal'], QB, 6'2”, 185, Washburn Rural, ‘26

Hoytal is currently ranked No. 51 overall in the class of 2026. He was taking snaps behind center for Rural and is slated to be the starting quarterback. He has a quick release and plays on a roster deep with threats at the receiver position. Look for Washburn Rural to throw the ball a ton this fall, which will give Hoytal ample opportunities to show off his arm.

[player_tooltip player_id='780479' first='TJ' last='Minikwu'], RB, 6'0”, 215, Washburn Rural, ‘26

Minikwu was the most impressive running back during the scrimmage. He is currently ranked No. 73 overall by Prep Redzone. He is an explosive back coming off an injury-shortened sophomore season. He has legs like tree trunks and can hit an extra gear once he is through a hole.

[player_tooltip player_id='1114730' first='Nash' last='Morrison'], WR, 6'3”, 145, Basehor-Linwood, ‘26

Morrison is currently ranked No. 86 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. Like the majority of the Bobcat receiving corps, he suffered a season-ending injury last fall. He has an explosive first step off the line and ran crisp routes during the scrimmage. He is also a long target which could make him a solid redzone option for the Bobcats.
