I had a chance this past week to tag along with the guys from NwGaFootball and TeamFynSports as they traveled the NW Georgia Area and tested players in 3 basic drills. A group of Valley Head Tigers made the trip up to Dade Co to be tested in the laser 40 yard dash, 5-10-5 agility drill and the broad jump. Below are a few names that stood out in the metrics.

[player_tooltip player_id='1408977' first='Tytan' last='Blevins'] - 2027 QB- Valley Head

The 6'0 160 3-sport athlete had a good season on the field last season. The freshman QB accounted for 1800 yards on the ground on 236 carries. He averaged 7.7 yards per carry and scored 19 TDs, leading the Tigers to a 8-4 record and the 2nd Round of the playoffs. He had a game high 331 yards on just 24 carries, scoring 4 TDs, in a 44-20 win over Cedar Bluff.

Of the 125 players tested this week he ranked out in the top 15% in the laser 40. He showed great change of direction in the 5-10-5 shuttle, putting up a top 5 overall time of 4.5. Blevins should have another big season for Valley Head this Fall.

Nate Bain - 2025 RB/FS - Valley Head

Bain is a solid built 5'8 running back with jets. He was 2nd on the Tigers last season in carries with 157 and totaled close to 1200 yards with 16 TDs, including a 57 yards TD reception. Old school 2-way player that added 2 interceptions on the defensive side of the ball. He possesses good vision in traffic and the speed to accelerate through the running lanes. He had a season high 200 yards on 10 carries in a win over Ider last Fall.

Officially with his two tries at the laser 40 he ran a 4.86, which was the 3rd best time on the day. After some coaching from TeamFyn on his technique, he recorded a 4.59. He put up a decent broad jump of 8'4. A true competitor with good talent who should easily eclipse the 1000 yard mark again this year.

Cayson McElrath - 2026 ATH- Valley Head

5'9 145 ATH looks a lot bigger in person. Has long limbs and tons of energy. He had limited touches last season for the Tigers, 26, but was efficient scoring 4 TDs. He added 3 TFL and an INT on the defensive side of the ball. McElrath had a game high 66 yards on 6 carries v Ider, scoring 2 TDs.

Cayson was the 2nd fastest Tiger on the day, running a 4.89 laser 40 and he recorded the team longest broad jump at 8'7. Athletic young guy and we look for his contributions on the field to increase this year as he moves into his Junior season.
